    Farm, Adventure, and Customize

PuffPals: Island Skies is indeed fluffy and puffy! This farming simulation game is all about living your best life on magical floating islands. Like Garden Paws, your neighbours are talking animals that you can’t help but get to know better. Interacting with them is definitely an option, but you’ll also be able do quests and play mini-games with them.

You can create and design your own farm and plant various flowers, trees, and crops. When some of your crops are ready to harvest, they come to life and follow you around like in Ooblets! Not only can you customize the exterior layout of your land, but you can also decorate inside your home. When customizing your own character, there are many choices of skin color, outfits, accessories, hair styles, and other traits that aren’t even human!

You’ll live in a main hub town but you’ll get the chance to do a lot of exploring and foraging at several unique connecting biomes. It will be every collector’s dream to discover new items and to even uncover artifacts.

    Kickstarter Campaign Available Now

Backers for PuffPals: Island Skies will have Alpha access to the game for PC fairly soon. There’s still time now to contribute to the Kickstarter Campaign here! Although they have already surpassed their main goals, there are stretch goals that include a Nintendo Switch version and even mobile! The developers behind the game, FluffNest, are also selling adorable plush toys of their characters here. *UPDATE: New trailer and info. Coming to PC, Switch, iOS, and Android in 2025*

Tis the season to get cozy and cuddle up with video games by the fireplace (or whatever nook/cranny you choose)!

Luckily, with the holiday season usually comes a little time off from the daily grind, and some excess time to spend with the friends and family. Unfortunately, this season more-so than others. However, it is important that we all still spend time with the ones we can, in any safe way we can.

What better way to do that than to boot up a console and delve into an amazing adventure that you may enjoy with everyone, and all from the comfort of your own home. Or even if you just feel like spending some quality time with numero uno, video games give us a chance to explore infinite worlds right at our fingertips. Here are some of my favorite cozy games that are perfect for this time of year.

    Animal Crossing

Obviously, when it comes to the holiday season, not many games take it to the level that Animal Crossing does. Get the full experience from weather and environmental changes, to special items and events, the Animal Crossing franchise has it all. It really doesn’t matter which game you choose, as they are all adorable and delightful and full wonderful holiday themed goodies! If you can’t afford a new game right now, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is free to play on mobile devices. If you are looking for the ultimate Animal Crossing experience, you’ll want to pick up Animal Crossing New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch.

    Ooblets

Another super adorable game that doesn’t shy away from the winter month’s is Ooblets. Ooblets is a cute creature collection game with some pretty epic dance battles. Just recently, the developers updated their game to help players enjoy the immersion that is experiencing the holidays in real life, and in game. The update (of course) brought a snowy environment as well as’ “We put in a load of work on this update to bring you a whole new region with its own storyline, characters, ooblets, crops, and craftables.” – via devlog.

    Overcooked 2

Nothing beats the frantic action with friends that a good party game can stir up. Overcooked 2 is fast paced action with food that gets super crazy super fast, and is always a hilarious good time. And, with the Winter Wonderland DLC, you can take the game to a whole new holiday level (literally speaking). “Moreover, with these 5 new festive kitchens, you can cook s’mores by the campfire, feed the Horde which are now holiday cookies and candy canes, and use those awesome new cannons from the carnival levels!”

    Portal Knights

If you love exploring wintery worlds and crafting darn anything your mind can come up with, Portal Knights is perfect for you and friends. Rebuild the festive portal and head over to the Winter Wonderland, where you’ll be greeted with new quests, holiday themed enemies, and cool festive items! There’s even an adorable reindeer pet waiting for you! Players need to have visited the first island of the second cluster (Landlubber’s Leap) in order for the event to trigger.

    Slime Rancher

The developers have announced that the new 1.4.1 update helps prepare Slime Rancher for Wiggly Wonderland. It is currently available on PC and consoles. The developers promise “There will be plenty of fun surprises happening both on the Far, Far Range and outside of the game.” Every day of the event, the Twinkle Slime will appear in-game somewhere on the Far, Far Range. Follow the music to find the twinkle slime and receive a collection of musical chimes!

    Slime Rancher

    Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is still held as one of the greatest indie games ever made. And considering that fact that it is a true blue life sim, you can most certainly expect to see some harsh times during the winter months. The entire gets covered in a nice blanket of snow, the trees change colors, and most of your crops will no longer grow. So, all that’s left to do is enjoy the coziest weather in one of the coziest games currently available.

    Stardew Valley Expanded

    Garden Paws

Garden Paws is an adorable life-sim game just full of the cutest creatures, and is still planned for a release on Nintendo Switch. Don’t take my word for it, though, here is a review from Steam “Cutest game EVER! So adorable! Mix of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon! hours of fun! they’ve updated and added so much since the last i played it! <3”. The game also got its very own winter update. Of the many wintery things brought to the game, included are 21 new and unique winter themed items including a Candy Cane Fence, Ice Table, Ice Shelves, a Sleigh and a Winter Tree.

    Did I miss any?

These are just some of the cute games I love that include a winter update. If there are any games that you think belong on this list, let me know in the comments, please!

The day has finally come for the official release of the adorable RPG Here Comes Niko.

Here Comes Niko is a light, breezy, and charming platforming and adventuring indie game currently in development. The studio behind this game is called Frog Vibes, which is made up of two team members; Stijn is the creator and music composer, and Lisa is the lead artist.

Together they have come up with a bright and colorful world full of animal islanders (a theme that I personally never tire of) that need your help to complete tasks. It is a lighthearted and joyous adventure that I think should be a part of every gamers library.

Well, the time has come for all adorable RPG lovers to get their hands on Here Comes Niko. The game is currently available on Steam for just $24.99. There you can also find all the info that you need to make an informed purchase.

The players who have already tried Here Comes Niko have had nothing but wonderful things to say, mostly siting how adorable and relaxing this little indie truly is. But you don’t have to take our words for it, here is the games most recent trailer to check out before you decide to try the game yourself.

Here are some of my favorite farming games currently available, or coming soon, for the different consoles.

It seems that these days new farming games are coming out left and right. And because most single-person or small-team indie groups tend to build their games on PC, we get a lot of these awesome farming games on PC first. Compared to ten years ago, Steam is overflowing with farming games! Sometimes they come to console later, but some will remain exclusive forever.

But there is good news for everyone who has a preference for console gaming, or who doesn’t have a game-worthy PC right now. We’ve put together a satisfyingly large list of farming games that are either already available on console, or are confirmed to be coming to console at a later time.

Here are some console games that contain farming, growing or gardening mechanics, and they are all available on at least one dedicated gaming machine that is currently still in production. But they are not all in the same genre, and the emphasis placed on farming is different in each game, so these lists represent a variety.

I hope you’ll spot some of your favorites here, and maybe even have a few more to tell me about, so we can continue to make this list longer and longer.

The small development team behind the game states that inspiration was taken from games such as “Pokemon, Harvest Moon, Runescape, and Chrono Trigger.” Serin Fate offers a wide variety of tasks that remind me a lot of Fantasy Life that also offers a wide variety of things to do. In this game however, you can freely choose where you’d like to dedicate your focus and time towards to. Feel like crafting some new armor to protect yourself on your next adventure? or maybe instead build some furniture to restore your hut? The choice is always yours. (more info)

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time

For those unfamiliar with Little Witch Academia, entries to the series take place at Luna Nova Academy, a school for witches in training. The protagonist of the franchise is Akko, an optimistic and energetic (albeit slightly impulsive) Japanese girl who comes from a non-magical background. In my opinion, this is similar to the various Harry Potter characters that come from a Muggle family. Chamber of Time offers players the ability to uncover the various mysteries of Luna Nova Academy. The game features the lovable protagonist Akko, as well as a variety of her friends. Players can explore dungeons, cast spells and use various magic to discover the seven wonders, as well as to resolve the mysterious time-shit that has occurred. (more info)
