During the Tokyo Game Show 2019 with Bitsummit’s 2019 live-stream on Twitch, we got to see a new trailer and some gameplay of Bug Fables. Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling is an action/adventure RPG developed by Moonsprout Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment and they have confirmed that it will be releasing on Steam here on November 21st, 2019, with console versions to be announced at a later date.

You might be thinking: “Ew bugs, they’re gross.” However, once you see some gameplay, you’ll instantly recognize the familiar cheeky tone, turn-based battles with companions, and the 2D paper art style reminiscent of classic Paper Mario games! Play as Vi, Kabbu, and Leif as they search Bugaria’s kingdoms, swamps, forests and deserts for The Everlasting Sapling, a treasure said to grant immortality! On the Indie Stage, we saw the Vi, a lazy bee, capable of using her Beemarang to grab items at a distance. We also saw her first companion, Kabbu, a mysterious warrior able to use his horn to cut things with force.

If you’re still feeling nostalgic over classic Paper Mario games, check out our article here: Scrap Story – Paper Mario Inspired RPG. For more indie game trailers at the Tokyo Game Show 2019, go here: Snacko’s New Tokyo Game Show 2019 Trailer.

Alchemy Story is coming to Steam Early Access this August 22nd and you’ll be able to transmute six villagers and complete the first part of the storyline. Meaning, there will be some adorable animals walking around town that were former humans but have been cursed by the Witch. They need your help to remember who they are! You’ll also get to farm, fish, garden, forage, chop some trees, mine, and brew potions. See below for Éloïse Laroche’s, the sole creator of the game, newest update which includes one last spellbound character and some other amazing new additions.

    Devlog – July 2019

After helping this mysterious cat complete his transmutation, all spellbound villagers will be liberated from the Witch’s curse! While the village will be restored, this doesn’t mean the end of your quest. On the contrary, a new chapter will begin once you meet the Witch…

Luckily, a few villagers weren’t spellbound and this fisherman, Aiden Luckywave, is one of them! You’ll be able to chat with him to get your first fishing pole, learn some fishing tips and complete deliveries to earn some gold.

Research and brew six new potions, such as the Forester Potion which will increase your luck when cutting down trees, or the Golden Brew to gain a random amount of gold when you drink it!

Unlock different outfits and hairstyles in the villager’s shops! Once an outfit is purchased, it’s placed in your dresser and you can change clothes from home. The plan is to add more clothes you can unlock from quests and secret areas around the village later on.

If you missed the last update for Alchemy Story, you can read our article here: Snacko, Alchemy Story, Ooblets, & Button City Indie Updates. You can also view some of our gameplay footage of an earlier demo of the game here: Alchemy Story – Demo Version Summary. Something that was mentioned in our demo was how adorable the chicks are with their little red bows so naturally we here at myPotatoGames will be all over that new in-game T-shirt.

Rolling Hills is a sushi simulation game where you own a restaurant, meet new characters, and form friendships. The game is created by indie developer Catch & Release who have done a complete overhaul of the previously mentioned “mini-game” players had to complete to make their sushi. Although many things have been changed or added, as explained in detail in their June Devlog, there has also been some work done on the conveyor belt we here at myPotatoGames where excited to learn more about.

“What felt like a big change a month ago now seems like small potatoes! When I talk to people about Rolling Hills, they normally say what excites them most is the prospect of being creative with their sushi making.”

    Matthew Taylor

    Conveyor Belt Sushi

Instead of someone coming in and telling you exactly what sushi roll they’d like to order, you’ll get to be more creative and find out what kind of ingredients they either love or hate. If you make a dish with that in mind and place it on your conveyor belt, customers will consider all dishes as they pass them by. Therefore, not all customers will be terribly picky unless they make a specific special request which you can either accept or refuse.

    New Cooking and Crafting Gameplay

The old way of making your sushi was to play a timed mini-game and then place the dish in your menu. As long as the dish was in your menu, you didn’t have to replay the mini-game. This was to give you the feeling of physically making your sushi by chopping/rolling. However, the developers say it lacked creativity that the fans ultimately wanted.

Now, as you are crafting your sushi and you add or take away ingredients, you can actually see the results of that change in your dish. You can even add condiments that change the dish in a variety of fun ways. This is definitely what was more exciting about Little Dragons Café in our opinion; changing the ingredients around.

If you mess up adding a dish to the menu, you can recall it from your conveyor belt! Phew, it won’t go to waste!

    Customer I.D. Cards

Customers no longer shout out their order so now there’s an I.D. card that displays when you interact with them. It shows their name, some stats that are still subject to change, and their ingredient preferences. The blacked out ones are ingredients they haven’t been served yet. It’s up to you to experiment and see what they like!

Rolling Hills is still in early development and does not yet have a release date but will be coming to Steam and the PlayStation Store. If you’re wondering what else is happening with other amazing indie games on our radar, check out Snacko, Alchemy Story, Ooblets, & Button City Indie Updates.

Ailuri is an adorable 2D side scroller that promotes awareness of endangered species.

Games that feature cute and cuddly animals are basically our bread and butter here at myPotatoGames. From the big hits like Animal Crossing: New Horizons down to the epic Indies like Snacko, we just can’t get enough of games that contain charming critters. Not only does Ailuri have one of the cutest pandas that you have ever seen, the game also has the wholesomeness of delivering a powerful and meaningful message. Having a protagonist in a video game that is a part of an endangered species is a wonderful and ingenious way to spread to awareness.

Ailuri is currently in production and being completely hand drawn, to help add to the alluring aesthetic. The current planned release of this charming title is late this year. The initial release will be on Steam for $14.99USD, but it may come to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. With such a beautiful message, and what appears to be some pretty delightful artwork, we will certainly be keeping an eye on Ailuri, and will have more information when it becomes available. For up-to-date information about Ailuri, you can follow the artist on Twitter by clicking here. For more 2D side scrolling action, check out the adorable Ayo by clicking here!

Indie games are more often than not the hidden gems of gaming and Lil Tribals makes no exception. This indie title is all about making friends, building a community and creating your own village.

Lil Tribals is created by a tiny indie studio which consists of three passionate developers, Jesse Toyota, Jenny Luu and Shirley Tong. The indie title follows Bumi and Jamu who were left by themselves after a disaster struck that destroyed the surrounding villages. The two friends then decided to start building a whole new village to welcome all the people affected by the event.

This is where the story starts off and the player will have to create a whole new village for other characters to find a new home. You will need to gather resources and play a new village, that will hopefully become the new sanctuary for many new villagers to be recruited along the way.

The indie game already features many activities such as collecting resources, building, and even painting you very own tribal mask, a feature that reminds us of the clothing creation/painting tool in Animal Crossing: New Leaf – something we can pour hours into!

Lil Tribals is currently in Alpha, which is an early stage in the games development cycle. Many new features will be added going forward, and bugs can still be expected to be part of the game at this point. The developers have already made an early version available which you can start playing for free on PC today. The game also supports (and recommends) the use of a controller. Check out the cutesie gameplay trailer below and make sure to follow the developers on Twitter to stay up to date on Lil Tribals!

    About Lil Tribals

After disaster struck the surrounding villages, the tribes were left without homes and searching for shelter. While searching for a new home, Bumi and Jamu discover a deserted campsite. Instead of leaving, they decide to start a new village, welcoming all the villagers without homes. It will take a lot of work, but maybe one day their little village will become something great.

A 3rd person village management game with city building, survival, and social elements. The game is currently in alpha, but provides the player with the core concepts:

    • Paint your mask!
    • Layout and build your village!
    • Recruit a variety of unique villagers and assign them roles!
    • Watch your villagers form relationships and engage in special events!

We’re not even halfway through the year and the games keep on coming! There have been quite a few announcements from us of indie projects in the making or with set release dates that you may have forgotten. We at myPotatoGames have compiled a list of our favorite games and most recent news with their dates and platforms so you can mark them on your calendars!

If you haven’t the time to play all of these wonderful titles, we’ve narrowed them done by categories so you can decide what you like the most in your games. Most games will fit in multiple categories but we’ve let you know where the main focus seems to lie.

    Games for Cat Lovers

We wanted to emphasize that there will be games where you can either be a cat or pet and play with cats. Most games below are about farming and exploring but cats will always get a special mention from us!

Games that are Remakes or Switch Ports

Many games are either being remade/remastered or simply being ported to the Nintendo Switch which is definitely still exciting. Rune Factory 4 Special for example was originally on the Nintendo 3DS and will be getting the new addition of the Newlywed Mode. Click on the links in the titles for more.

    Games for Zelda Fans

The Legend of Zelda may not be getting a new core game anytime soon but there are still great things in store with the series! Link’s Awakening, a remaster from the original Game Boy game, looks quite charming, and the Cadence of Hyrule spin-off is an interesting choice for a mash-up. Tunic, has a cute lovable fox that looks like Link and was heavily inspired by the series.

    Games with Monster/Creature Pets

If your favorite part about farming games are raising the animals or you like to be able to capture or befriend monsters/creatures, then these games are for you! In Ooblets, you get to actually “grow” said creatures in your garden.

    Games for Animal Crossing Fans

What makes an Animal Crossing game so great is all of its features combined with customization, decorating, and performing daily activities. However, what really stands out is its socializing aspect. In these games you will be able to interact with all of the townsfolk and make new friends!

    • Littlewood – May 2019 – PC and Nintendo Switch
    • Sunvale – TBD 2020 – PC, Linux, Mac, and potential for consoles
    • Hokko Life – TBD – PC and potential for Switch and mobile

    Games with Crafting/Building & Exploration

You might enjoy being able to build or create objects with items you have found by foraging and traversing wondrous landscapes. If so, check out the games below.

Games with a Large Focus on Farming

These games offer many things to do on your farmstead with crops and animals to care for. These are games similar to the ones we all love; Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons. However, Atomicrops has added the use of guns and fighting off mutants in your gardens so click below for details.

    Games with Platforming or Puzzles

Platform games have a lot of precisely-timed jumps and puzzles to solve to progress further in the levels. From Etherborn’s anti-gravity mechanic, to Super Mario Maker 2’s ability to create your own courses, these games all offer more than your average games in the genre.

    Games with Unique Twists

It’s a little harder to describe these games as they have combined elements and genres together to form quite a unique gaming experience. Untitled Goose Game is one such game where you play as an annoying goose, and sneak up and play mean tricks on villagers.

Hopefully you have found this guide helpful and don’t forget to click on the links provided for more information on every game. Stay tuned as we announce more new and exciting games coming our way!

Untitled Goose game is one of the most bizarre and interesting video game ideas in recent years. While there is little known about the game, the few things we do know just keep putting smiles on our faces here at myPotatoGames.

Untitled Goose Game first received its attention back in the end of 2017 when the developers sought out to their community for help to name the game. Now more than one year later the game still has no release date other than sometime in 2019, but we have a bunch of memes that we can enjoy until the game comes out.

It’s a Lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible goose.

    Untitled Goos Game

This is the introduction House House, the developing studio behind Untitled Goose Game has provided. A rather crass introduction to an extremely rude and sneaky goose. The game puts the player in the role of a… horrible goose, set inside a lovely town full of friendly, completely unaware people minding their own business.

Amongst fans of the game, Untitled Goose Game qualifies as a stealth game in which the goose will have to sneak up to the villagers and fulfill certain quests. These quests, you may have expected it at this point are basically little mean tricks to get the villagers to do certain things.

    Untitled Goose Game

Snapping the hat right off the poor guys head while gardening, might be a quest a player will see. We can only imagine how fun it would be to sneak around the bushes, snap the hat and run away on our tiny splish-splash goose legs.

Unfortunately Untitled Goose Game has no release date other than a vague sometime in 2019. However, we do know the game will be coming to PC and Nintendo Switch sometime this year and we can’t wait to start goosing around. For now you can enjoy the launch trailer and watch the mean, but oh so adorable goose in action.
