My list of 9 games for cat lovers wasn’t complete without Cattails, based on popular request I have taken another close look at Cattails a feline-themed simulation RPG game available on Steam and Nintendo Switch.

Developed and published by Falcon Entertainment for PC, Mac and Linux on December 1st of 2017, the game has garnered very ‘paws-itive’ feedback since its release. Through the eyes of a cat, Cattails allows players to hunt for food, interact with other cats, gather herbs and explore an expansive world.

Kotaku have said that “Cattails looks like Stardew Valley, except cats.” and IGN have said that Cattails is “an adorably silly game, but one that’s also a lot of fun.” Stardew Valley is arguably one of the most popular and beloved indie games among fans of the genre. Mixing the lovely farming game with the cuteness of cats just sounds like a lot of fun to me!

Cat Activities and Open World Exploration

    Cattails

In Cattails you will join one of three unique cat colonies and become friends or frenemies with its residents. Of course there are also cat like activities such as hunting mice and squirrels that will take you on a journey through the large open world.

While adventuring you can also find love in another cat… and get married…. to another cat. If that doesn’t sound like the perfect cat-tastic mix between Stardew Valley and a traditional Harvest Moon game – then I don’t know!

    Seasons and Weather Changes

    Cattails

The open world is full of treasures and things to do. While out exploring you can gather herbs and berries that you can give to your friends. They say small gifts keep a friendship alive! You will also stumble across all different areas like the woodlands, swamps and even beaches.

Seasons and weather can also change at all times, making for an even more engaging and atmospheric experience. Each seasons like you may have guessed, feature festivals that you can participate in if you wish.

Cattails is now out on Steam and Nintendo Switch and since I booted up the game again I have only ever put it down to share my experience with you. Cattails is a wonderful game for any cat lover or anyone who enjoys cute, relaxed gaming!

The developer of Snacko has released a short video showcasing what winter will be like in the game.

So many different games do their darnedest to make sure that this time of year is a special one, no matter how you choose to celebrate. Especially if your idea of celebration is booting up your favorite cute game to check out what’s in store for the holiday season. Well, the developers of Snacko have given us a sneak peak at what to expect from the cold times in their game, and just how cute a kitty farming in winter can really be.

    About Snacko

In Snacko, you play as a cat named Momo, who alongside another cat character named Miman, are based on the indie devs own cats. With a variety of features including farming, fishing, decorating, and exploring, the aim of the game is to recruit animal friends and rebuild an abandoned island where cats (naturally) rule the world! It is a super cute indie game that has been in development for some time now, but that intends to release on Steam when it’s ready.

Time to frolic with our fuzzy feline friends with this list of the best cute games for cat lovers!

As if kitties weren’t already cute enough, getting to interact with them in the digital world always seems to be just too cute for words. Whether they are just doing their usual dismissive thang with all that sass, or guiding you with the deep wisdoms of an unhindered stoic, cats always make for either a great addition to a game, or even the centerpiece of a grand adventure.

Here are some games that I have found that fall into that category, but also bring some extra cuteness to the table.

    Calico

This project started with a love for magical girls, cats, and a want to create a game that’s light, pink, cute, fluffy, and feminine. It also incorporates everything that’s enjoyable from a simulation game like Animal Crossing (furniture, decorations) but the animals will not leave/die, the shop will never close and the crops will not rot. The objective of the game is to make the town’s cat café active and full of cuddly creatures again such as cats, deer, raccoons, dogs, turtles, red pandas, foxes and more! For more Calico info head over here.

You may have noticed a rusted communicator part in your recycling bin and wondered if it is just junk. However, rusted communicator parts can be used in the game. Here’s some info on the purpose of and how to acquire rusted communicator parts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

    What Are They Used For?

Rusted communicator parts are essential materials in order to craft the Robot Hero Nook Miles recipe. If you have the Robot Hero recipe, and 30 rusted parts as well as:

    • 90 Iron Nuggets
    • 10 Gold Nuggets
    • 1 Gold Armor
    • 1 Rocket

The Robot Hero item is yours!

    How Can They Be Obtained?

Gulliver often can be found unconscious on your beach. Upon waking him, he needs to contact his crew with his ‘handy dandy’ device and be rescued. (Even though he’s a seagull?). However, it turns out his device is not as handy or dandy as he thought. He will request your help in searching for five (non-rusted) communicator parts on your island’s beaches. They resemble manila clams, spout a small amount of water and can be retrieved by digging them up with a shovel. The days Gulliver wash up are random, but the day after, there will always be a rusted communicator part in the recycling box.

The reason I told you about helping Gulliver? Well time for a not so wholesome method of gaining those rusted communicator parts more quickly. If you agree to help Gulliver, and dig up the five communicator parts he needs to be rescued, but don’t give them to him, eventually, they will turn into rusted communicator parts also.

If the crafting materials for the Robot Hero item still seem a little extreme, but you’d really like one, why not check out sites like Nookazon. Here, you may be able to facilitate a trade with somebody for one. 🙂

How To Stop That Menace Of a Seagull From Washing Up On My Beaches?

Sorry, we can’t answer that one. Fill your beaches with rusted communicator parts? Oh the ‘iron’-y.

    I’ll let myself out.

Snacko is an adorable upcoming farming simulation adventure game. The game is currently in development by indie studio bluecurse, which consists of husband and wife, Jordan and Erisa. Snacko has a tentative release date of 2021 for PC via Steam and itch.io, and will hopefully make its way to other consoles shortly after.

The cat-tastic indie game’s devs recently posted an update on Snacko in the form of Devlog 18. New features of the game include an in-game camera to take picture purr-fect photos, the ability to place food as decorations (a fitting feature given the game’s title), and the ability to undertake quests.

    Taking Photos

Players will now be able to take photos when playing Snacko. The game’s camera sits in your equipment slots and can be used like any other equipment to enter photo mode. The camera has a handy viewfinder which allows you to study the world around you. If you find something or someone new, it will show up as ??? Once you’ve snapped a photo, you can save it to your photo album which is accessible through the journal.

    Placing Food As Decorations

If you already follow Snacko on Twitter, then the chances are you may have already guessed this. Players will now be able to place food as decorations in the game. The devs have begun adding 3D models to Snacko for all the different foods available. This feature will allow you to make your home more cozy, or “you can just place random loaves of bread around town”.

    Quests

The game’s indie developers have begun to implement quests and the bulletin board to Snacko. Quests are a great way to learn the ropes of farming with the added bonus of simultaneously getting some awards. You may even be able to use the game’s camera feature to snap some pics that meet certain requirements and share them with fellow townsfolk.

    New Building Zones

Previously, the areas where you could build in Snacko were limited to specific places on the game’s map. Now, however, building areas have opened up to the majority of your farm and the town where there’s flat terrain. This will allow you to do things like line dirt paths with fences and place things along the side of the map.

Alongside these new features, a few comparison photos were shared showing how the game has developed graphics-wise since last year. To see these pictures and read more about the game’s progress, you can check out the devlog here.

Snacko is currently in development and is scheduled to release on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021, it’s a little bit to go but perfection can’t be rushed, right?

A Street Cats Tale is a game about lost little kitten trying to find its home.

In my humble opinion, there could never be enough games that revolve around cats. From the super cuteness of Calico to the fast paced action of Cat Quest II, adorable felines just make for the best protagonist. Well, A Street Cats Tale is coming to Switch, and brings with a charming little kitten on a quest to find home.

Originally released on mobile and late on Steam, A Street Cats Tale is a slightly darker RPG that puts you in the role of a lost young cat. You must travel around the city, and meet all kinds of different individuals, in an effort to stay fed and find sanctuary.

A Street Cats Tale will be available for Switch on March 12th, and will cost just $7.99. For more information on the game, you can check it out on Steam.

Mineko’s Night Market is an upcoming cat-themed crafting adventure game that celebrates Japanese culture and is essentially about friendship, choices, and of course, cats. The indie game is being developed by Meowza Games, and being published by Humble Bundle, who will also publish upcoming games Forager and Ikenfell.

The exact date for the games release is yet to be determined, though the creator mentioned that it may possibly be early this year.   I thought I’d provide everyone with a detailed article on everything we know about this cute cat-filled creation!

    What is the game about?

Playing as Mineko, a girl who has moved to a superstitious fishing town inundated with cats, you will uncover secrets whilst assiting Mineko in becoming a successful young entrepreneur. This can be done by completing tasks, undertaking quests and gathering resources in preparation for the weekly night market.

Players can craft a variety of odd items, toys, and trinkets, which can then be sold to townsfolk (who are now your customers) at Mineko’s night market stall. After you’ve finished selling your items, you can explore the Night Market yourself, where you can play mini-games, eat unusual foods, and purchase collectibles.

The game allows you to explore distant lands by unlocking different types of transport (which include buses, bullet trains and cat carts). Each land offers new people to meet and unique things to do, dependent on the time of day and season.

There are 16 uniquely themed markets every year which all feature a stage event that you can partake in. Examples of events include Taiko drumming, karaoke competitions, sumo suit wrestling, and more!

The better you perform at the market, the bigger and better the market will become, which may well attract new townsfolk and even celebrity guests!

What sort of stuff can I do in the game?

Some features of the game include:

    • Explore the village and surrounding areas to find rare resources and make new friends
    • Craft peculiar items with the resources you find around the world
    • Barter with townsfolk at the weekly Night Market to sell your creations
    • Explore the night Market to discover unusual culinary dlights and collectibles
    • Play and compete in a variety of Night Market games like cat racing,
      pachinko, and whack-a-tako
    • Uncover the mysteries of the Sun-Cat Abe and Mount Fugu Island!

    How much will it cost?

The price of the game is still TBA.

What platforms will it be released on?

    • PC
    • Mac
    • Nintendo Switch

    When will it be released?

The Nintendo website claims that the game is ‘coming early 2019’ to the Switch console. As the PC and Mac versions were in the works first.  However it was delayed until 2020 with no concrete release date, however let’s hope we can all play the game this year!

Is there any game merchandise available to buy?

Yes! The following items can be purchased whilst you (im)patiently await the game’s release:

I sat down with Brent, developer behind the game for an exclusive interview last year. For some more sneaky details on Mineko’s Night Market, make sure you check out the interview here

After much enthusiasm of late, it seems necessary to take a stand to see more Magicians Quest in the West.

    Magicians Quest

After such a huge response from the community, it seems that now is the time for action. Having only gotten to play Magicians Quest: Mysterious Times on the Nintendo DS, and none of the sequels, we must stand together to see that our magical adventures continue right here, in our home hemisphere. With enough support, it is possible that we may just get to see Magicians Quest on the new cool platform on the block, the Nintendo Switch. It is never too late!

What is Magicians Quest: Mysterious Times?

Described as a cross between Harry Potter and Animal Crossing, Magicians Quest: Mysterious Times originally released in Japan on Nov 12th of 2008, and finally made its way west on May 11th, 2009. The game was released on the Nintendo DS, as were its sequels, although the sequels were only ever released in Japan.

    Magicians Quest

Pretty much the only real criticism that the game received was that the game could be a bit confusing at times. Also, some people thought that it bore too close a semblance to Animal Crossing, and was a near blatant ripoff. Although, it seems to me that it is just its own beautiful game, with a few features that Animal Crossing has never had.

However, mislabeling as a ripoff did not stop the popularity of the game. As previously mentioned, the game spawned three more titles that never saw their way west. It seems a real shame that ought to be corrected.

    Magicians Quest Preview

The gameplay in Magicians Quest is pretty expansive, from character customization to being in relationships, this game has it all. You can even start a band with the other villagers, if you so choose. There is never a shortage of relaxing and fun things to do in Mysterious Times.

For those that never tried Mysterious Times.

Remember, this game came to the west over ten years ago and was released on a platform that is no longer in production. However, there are still ways to get your hands on this title today, as well as the Nintendo DS console. You can easily purchase the game online through GameStop (pre-owned $19.99), Amazon (pre-owned $87.95) or Ebay (pre-owned $70.00). As for the Nintendo DS, you can still find refurbished versions of the console on Amazon as well.

Help bring more Magicians Quest to the west.

The ultimate goal would be to band together to get Konami to make an all new Magicians Quest and have it release on the Nintendo Switch here in the west. However, I really wouldn’t mind just seeing the game ported to Switch, and have English versions of the sequels come to Nintendo Switch as well. With enough support from the community, we can at least start the conversation and plant the seed.

The first steps have already been taken by you! The clamor of the fans inspired the creation of this petition. You can now be a part of this change and sign the petition to have more Magicians Quest games available in the Western Hemisphere. If we all join together, we can convince Konami to do what is right. Get them to listen to the fans. Whether a new game, translated/ported sequels, or just planting the idea, we can just a step further to do our part to make this change in the world.

Go even further by clicking here to sign the petition!
