Ailuri is an adorable 2D side scroller that promotes awareness of endangered species.

Games that feature cute and cuddly animals are basically our bread and butter here at myPotatoGames. From the big hits like Animal Crossing: New Horizons down to the epic Indies like Snacko, we just can’t get enough of games that contain charming critters. Not only does Ailuri have one of the cutest pandas that you have ever seen, the game also has the wholesomeness of delivering a powerful and meaningful message. Having a protagonist in a video game that is a part of an endangered species is a wonderful and ingenious way to spread to awareness.

Ailuri is currently in production and being completely hand drawn, to help add to the alluring aesthetic. The current planned release of this charming title is late this year. The initial release will be on Steam for $14.99USD, but it may come to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. With such a beautiful message, and what appears to be some pretty delightful artwork, we will certainly be keeping an eye on Ailuri, and will have more information when it becomes available. For up-to-date information about Ailuri, you can follow the artist on Twitter by clicking here. For more 2D side scrolling action, check out the adorable Ayo by clicking here!

Thanks to a new product line from Honson, it appears Switch Mini is possibly still in production.

Not too long ago, we covered the rumor that a Nintendo Switch Mini is possibly in the works. There was a report from Nikkei that Nintendo was producing a tiny version to the Switch that would be more portable as well as more affordable. Until now, nothing else has really surfaced that points in the direction of this rumor. It looks like we might actually get one before the release of some of the major titles covered at this years E3, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Maker 2.

But, if you head over to the official Honson website, you will see that their top category for their accessories is currently “Nintendo Switch Mini”. Currently for sale you will find screen protectors and clear protection cases for the console itself. Also for sale is an array of carrying cases for the console in question.

It appears that Nintendo has released the measurements of the new device to accessory makers ahead of the release of the console itself. The mock-up in the images is just that, but may indicate at least to some extent what the new console will actually look like.

This years Nintendo Treehouse had a lot of awesome gameplay, including Super Mario Maker 2.

The Nintendo Treehouse this year was full of gameplay of all the upcoming games that we are super excited about, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Zelda: Link’s Awakening. One special title that stood out (aside from AC:NH) was Super Mario Maker 2. With all the buzz recently surrounding this epic game, we were sure stoked to actually get to see a little gameplay ahead of its release on June 28th this year.

    A bit about SMM!

In case you are new to this series, Super Mario Maker is a creation/platform game where you get to create very own Mario levels, and play them with friends. The original title was released in September of 2015, and received overwhelming positive reviews. The gameplay footage of Super Mario Maker 2 from this years E3 shows just how much the series has evolved from the original title.

    What’s new?

Many new features have been added to Super Mario Maker 2 to help streamline the level creation process. One such feature is the introduction of an items wheel. This gives ease of access to all the items one needs for all the different interactive pieces in the game.

Now you can quickly choose whether you want a fire blasting flower to heat things up, or one of those awesome feathers and take to sky! With so may amazing options to explore, we certainly can’t wait to get our hands on SMM2. If you want to see many more of the new features coming to Super Maker Maker 2, check out the footage from the Nintendo Treehouse below. If you would like to pre-order your very own copy of Super Mario Maker 2, you can do so right now by clicking here.

Stairway Games has announced the upcoming 1.1 update to their lovely farming sim, Coral Island! I, like many other gamers, have been eagerly waiting for the next update as the game is rather unfinished. However, the 1.1 update will add what many players have been impatiently waiting for: Merfolk relationships and romances! This update is essentially the ocean update and adds more than just relationships, though.

    What to Look Forward To

Coral Island is expanding its horizons with the 1.1 update by adding four new members to the Merfolk Kingdom. Get to know the ocean dwellers by building relationships with them through interacting and gifts. Learning their likes and dislikes will lead to them opening up to you about their story, but some of them might even fall in love with you! There’s even a new wedding location to discover for those of you who enjoy hunting down all of the options.

Of course, the name of this game is farming, and Coral Island certainly hasn’t left out the ocean for that. 1.1 will introduce a new plot of land for you to decorate and farm on. This time, it’s located under the water! There are new ocean crops for you to plant, as well as critters to raise. Take care of the aquatic creatures inspired by real life animals like the shellcluck, mermoo, inkhog, carapoultry, and seashroud. Each one produces new and useful products. And of course there is new ocean decor to decorate your underwater farm with.

The ocean and Merfolk aren’t the only ones being added to this update. According to the roadmap for Coral Island, 1.1 includes some other fun stuff. Players will finally get access to the Savannah, as well as new storylines and content. You’ll get to raise ostriches and buffalos on your farm, as well. Plus, there’s a new town rank to achieve, attractions, a tourist system, more outfits and decor, improvements to the dialogue system, and improvements to hats!

    Release Date

Coral Island’s 1.1 update is expected to release for Beta Access on May 20th! There will likely be more info about the full roll out for all platforms at a later date. You can find the game on Steam.

It’s December! And you know what that means, right? Christmas is almost here! My favorite holiday is Halloween, but Christmas is a close second. It’s the perfect time of year to get comfy and cozy with a good blanket, cup of hot chocolate, and a lovely video game. I’ve gone hunting for some great Christmas-themed games to share with you all this season, too!

    Snowman-Building Fun

Everybody Wham Wham is one such Christmas-themed game I’ve come across. This one comes from developers Bonte Avond, who also made the funny Once Upon a Jester, and also has those fun storybook looking visuals. This time, it’s a whimsical story-driven adventure where you compete to build the best snowman!

You’ll go head-to-head with two other competitors to compete for the winning spot. Just make sure you pay attention to the criteria and build within the time limit. Everybody Wham Wham will have you hand-rolling your snowman, as well as decorating it. Choose from 60 different decorations to impress the judges. And if you do it right, you might just score a perfect 10! Then, hang out with a cast of quirky characters while you attend karaoke night, drink a hot cup of cocoa, or listen to a fun campfire song with them. Not everything is quite as it seems, either. Talk with Wham Wham the snowman to see if you can’t unravel the reason why the festival is held and what it is he’s hiding from contestants!

    Release Date

Everybody Wham Wham is currently available on Steam and Itch.io for you to enjoy whenever!

Speaking of Christmas, do you need some ACNH inspiration?
