ConcernedApe is always very humble when it comes to teasing upcoming updates as he always makes sure to set expectations right. He recently announced that fish ponds will finally be coming to the life and farming simulation game. In his latest interview with US Gamer he went into more detail about update 1.4.

Eric, the sole developer on Stardew Valley recently spoke to Us Gamer where he talked about the upcoming update.

once players experience them, I think they’ll wonder how they ever managed to play the game before! From a big picture, I see 1.4 as bringing a whole new level of polish to Stardew Valley, as well as adding in lots of rich and rewarding content to the game.

Polishing a game and deep diving into the code means that almost every aspect of Stardew Valley will see some enhancements. He went ahead and gave a few examples.

There are some really simple things that were missing from the game that really improve the experience, like being able to press TAB on PC to switch from one row of your inventory to the next, or to be able to hover over an item and get an indication as to whether it’s required for any of the community center bundles or not.

Stardew Valley is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch eShop charts even years after its original release date on the PC. The game also features a co-op multiplayer where players can team up with a friend and farm, build and play together. The multiplayer update is now finally also available on PlayStation 4 in addition to Nintendo Switch and PC. The free update will also be heading to Xbox One soon.

ConcernedApe is hard at work enhancing Stardew Valley by adding more features to the game. Today Eric (also known as ConcernedApe), developer behind Stardew Valley teased fans with a sneak peak at the next major Update.

According to a recent tweet by ConcernedApe, we will be getting fish ponds in the next major Stardew Valley patch! The new farm building that you can add to your ever growing farm will allow you to raise fish and collect eggs and other products from it.

The much anticipated 1.4 update will be released sometime this year with not much detail about the content of the patch. Eric however mentioned earlier this year that he has many ideas that he would like to add to the game. We are excited to see what is coming to Stardew Valley next! Take a looksie at the cute new fish ponds below.

ConcernedApe, creator of Stardew Valley has revealed that the long awaited multiplayer mode is finally coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This news comes after the mode has been available for Nintendo Switch and PC players for quite some time now.

Nintendo Switch and PC owners of the game have been enjoying the Co-Op mode for a few months now. In the Stardew Valley multiplayer mode, players can invite friends to their game and even provide them with their own little cabin. The Co-Op mode quickly became a fans favorite way to enjoy the much popular farming-sim.

ConcernedApe has updated us on the status of the multiplayer mode for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. He says that “the update was put back into certification late last week after failing certain MP-specific platform requirements, like needing a way to access player profiles from in-game. I am praying that it passes this time which could mean a release later this week.”

Unfortunately some more work and fixes need to be completed before it can finally be approved. However, once an update reaches the certification state, it is only a matter of time when it will be available for everyone to enjoy. Erik (ConcernedApe) mentioned ” I’ll keep you updated as soon as I know anything further. Thanks for your patience everyone.”

It is likely that the Stardew Valley Console Multiplayer Mode will be released sometime this week after the changes request by Sony and Microsoft have been implemented.

The developer also teased its fans with a future update coming to Stardew Valley. The 1.4 Update will include new content for both single player and multiplayer. Erik promised to share more details about the upcoming content update once the Co-Op mode for the remaining consoles has been released.

If you want to play Stardew Valley with friends you can already do so on PC and Nintendo Switch. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are to follow in the very near future!

If you have been a long time Stardew Valley fan and seeking a new adventure, the Stardew Valley Expanded mod promises to make the game feel like new again!

Eric also known as ConcernedApe is the main developer of Stardew Valley. He recently announced that beginning Dec. 14th, he would once again take on Stardew Valley by himself, including publishing the game, which prior to today was handled by Chucklefish.

In his most recent blog post he announced that he would return to developing new game content for Stardew Valley. Erik stated “I am going to keep making new content for Stardew Valley” something he said he would  not do anymore, but explained that “I keep getting new ideas for ways to improve and expand upon the game”.

Fans can now expect more new features hitting Stardew Valley in the future. Erik also said that he would start to form a team so he can be faster with more updates and bug fixes.

The developer has also mentioned that he is working on an entirely new game, set inside the Stardew Valley universe. However, he mentioned that it has been put on the back burner for now in favor of more Stardew Valley content production. The new game remains to be a secret, and Erik has not shared any details about it yet. Chucklefish Stardew Valleys previous publishers, is working on Witchbrook, a game that is expected to capture fans of Stardew Valley.

You can check out his entire update right here. Below is a summary of what fans can expect next.

    • My top priority is to see the 1.3 multiplayer update come to Xbox One & Playstation 4, and for issues with the Switch patch to be addressed.
    • I am working on a new game, but I’ve put it on hold in order to create a new Stardew Valley update (1.4).
    • French, Korean, Italian, and Turkish translations are in the works, though they may not come out until early next year.
    • I plan on forming a team to help me work on new Stardew Valley content (beyond 1.4)
    • Once the team is in place, I’ll divide my time between Stardew Valley and my new game.
    • I am now self-publishing on all platforms except Nintendo Switch and mobile.

Stardew Valley Switch has been a top seller on the Nintendo eShop since it’s launch. A recent update has added the long awaited Multiplayer mode to Stardew Valley on Nintendo Switch, you can get caught up here. The game is currently available on PC/Max, Xbox One, Playstation 4, PS Vita, iOS and Nintendo Switch.

    Post Image

Lonesome Village is a relaxing puzzle-solving life sim where you play as the adorable Wes, a coyote. Wes is looking to solve the mystery of this empty village and the tower that popped up. You’ll enter that tower to complete a number of different puzzles in order to free the villagers trapped on each level. As you do that, the story of what happened will unfold, and it’ll be up to you to stop the evil that threatens it all.

    The Pros

There is no doubt that Lonesome Village is uber adorable. The art is wildly cute, and each character you save is some variety of animal. Each has a great individual design. Even the main character, who’s a little coyote character dressed like Link. Even the overworld designs of each area you can explore are cute. Overall, this game is visually great.

The puzzle tower is a fun concept. You’re tasked with rescuing the villagers of the world, and to do that you need to complete a puzzle on each floor. Completing the puzzle releases villagers from the statues they’ve been encased in. Sometimes it’s just one character, sometimes it’s a whole family of characters. The puzzles aren’t super hard, which is perfect for having a relaxing game play experience. Some of them make you think harder than others, but none of them had me stumped for too long. I enjoyed the variety of puzzles, too. It wasn’t repetitive rehashing of the same ones over and over.

The day/night cycle doesn’t affect things like sleep, either. I found that to be a nice touch. It adds ambiance and life to the world, but doesn’t lock you into a specific way to play. There’s no running to bed to beat the inevitable 2am pass out, like some other life sims!

    Coronya and Quests

I’m afraid that despite mostly liking Lonesome Village, my cons list is longer than the pros. True to early Legend of Zelda vibes, you’re equipped with a mirror item that allows you to talk to your fairy companion, Coronya. This is a great way to have a reminder of what you were doing as far as the story goes, as there is no quest log. However, she likes to pop up from time to time at the shrine levels of the tower. These levels require you to find the item the shrine requests and place it there in order to open the door to the next floor of the tower.

Coronya likes to pop up on these levels to talk to you about what the item is and how to get it. That’s cool, and often useful. However, she then returns to wherever she comes from, and must discuss EXACTLY what she just said, word-for-word, via the mirror. She’s also adamant about telling you that you must save everyone in the tower, so don’t forget to do that! It’s all so unnecessary. The point of the game is to release people from the tower. And I certainly don’t need an exact repeat of what was just said, right after it’s said. I would have preferred a quest log.

Which brings me to the fetch quests you get from villagers. Lonesome Village’s newly released inhabitants will have quests for you to complete. It’s how you’ll earn hearts to continue through the tower. Talk to a villager and they immediately launch into their quest, then it immediately opens your inventory so you can complete the quest, even if it’s your first time hearing about the quest. Just be sure to write down what it is you’re looking for if you go accept multiple quests. Again, there’s no quest log to keep up with what needs to be done. It made for a frustrating time when I’d pick the game back up and had to go around talking to people to figure out where I was in my fetch quest endeavors.

There is No Autosave and Storage is Lacking

I repeat, there is no auto save. Maybe I’m spoiled by modern games, but I expect autosave to be the standard in games these days. Having the ability to also save at will is great too, but autosave has saved me so much trouble over the years. Lonesome Village doesn’t even have the sleep to save mechanics like Stardew Valley. Instead, you have to visit one of the statues scattered across the map to save. I don’t have words for the frustration I felt when I thought I’d saved, but hadn’t and closed the game. I was set back several floors of the towers, and several villager quests.

Backpack size is woefully tiny. Access to the storage chest isn’t super convenient. There’s a chest in your house, your tent, and in the tower elevator. Sifting through storage is fiddly, at best. Everything shows up in a line that you have to scroll through to find what you need. The backpack is the same way when turning in quest items. Plus, there is one hotkey slot, so you have to go into your backpack, choose the item you want to hotkey, then use the item. It makes switching tools cumbersome and slow.

    Final Thoughts

I’d still recommend this game overall. It’s cute and chill. There’s no rush to complete things, so you can play at your own pace. Plus, there’s no stamina drain or health to lose, adding another layer for a stress-free experience.

    I’d rate Lonesome Village:

You can find Lonesome Village on Steam, Epic Games, GOG, Switch, and Xbox now!
