It’s been 5 years since we’ve had any entries into the Super Monkey Ball series, and 7 since we’ve had any on a console. Fans of the series won’t have to wait much longer to catch up with Aiai and the gang, though. SEGA has officially announced an HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz!

The HD remaster has a release date of October 29, 2019. Needless to say, October just keeps looking better and better for the MyPotatoGames fam!

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz was originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2006. It introduced a new villain, Captain Crabuchin, and had a total of 8 boss battles.

So far, we know that Banana Blitz HD will have 100 main levels and 10 multiplayer minigames. New graphics are, obviously, included and controls will be optimized for each platform. Also, for the first time ever in the series, there will be online leaderboards.

The best news is that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will be released on all current major consoles. That means you’ll be able to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam! Although pages aren’t yet up for all the consoles, you can already pre-order on Amazon.

    Watch the announcement trailer:

Super Monkey Ball is far from the only nostalgic series getting a remake. Check out our pieces on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town remakes!

We had previously mentioned this breathtakingly beautiful adventure simulation game was coming to Windows, Mac, Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019. However, the developers, studio Chibig, have just announced today that they will be self-publishing which will take a lot more work and time! During the winter months the team will be working on localization, platform ports (the Nintendo Switch version is already functional), and testing. Meaning, the release date has been delayed to February 2020. Don’t worry though, we believe it will be well worth the wait! See below for what we can look forward to and check out their Kickstarter page here for more information.

Summer in Mara is centered around the main island Qälis, a small town with different Qüidos, humans, cat-children, and a few Elit. In this city, you can see the mixture of cultures scattered all through Mara. In Qälis, you will meet people, trade with them, and discover lots of secrets about Mara’s exotic and ancient structures. You’ll be able to befriend all of these villagers but you’ll also be able to craft, grow livestock, and plant trees and crops!

About Some of the Local Shops and Villagers

The Market: Three twins run this place, but be careful with them, since they can be really tricky.

Qälis Temple: Meet Blu, a strange individual that doesn’t talk much. But when Blu talks… nobody knows what he meant.

Taka’s Restaurant: He’s a famous and great chef, but very traditionalist. Brram, his nephew, wants to be like his uncle but also wants to explore the galaxy.

The Forge: Akaji is the blacksmith in Qälis. In her forge, you can see her latest work. Like, well, can you see what emerge from the ground?

The Adventurer: Onzo is a cat-child, but also the adventurer like you! He keeps all kind of stories in his diary!

Awan’s Tavern: It’s a great place to enjoy a different meal. But a lot of Qüidos don’t like this kind of “cuisine”.

The Other Villagers: Taima is a pirate that doesn’t know what pirates are, Fink is an Elit engineer, and Mayo is the worst waitress in Mara.

Studio Chibig plans on keeping us all updated on the progress of the game more often and will be letting all of their backers know more about the physical rewards which will still be releasing on schedule. In the meantime, check out our articles Ahoy Potatoes! These have been some of our most anticipated games as of late and we’ve noticed that our Potato Family is also eager for the release of these games! We’ve put together some links for you below to wishlist along with the most recent updates to tie us all over until we get the chance to play! If you’ve only just heard of these incredibly adorable games now, or if you’ve missed our other articles on them, we’ve also added those links for you!

    Snacko

Snacko, the game where you play as a cat, is an adorable farming simulation with unique puzzles. Below is the announcement from June that we are most excited about but if you want to read their entire devlog you can do so here. Snacko still has a tentative release date of 2021 for PC and the Nintendo Switch. If you missed our last month’s updates on this game, you can read our article here.

An entirely new building system is in the works which includes their new camera rotation! Now you can see all your wonderful decors from all angles and rotate your items to place however you want! Take a look at the video below to see how it will work. We’ve also listed everything else for that pertains to your furniture and decor items.

    New Features:

    • world-aligned grid snapping – this means no matter where you are on the map, you can always make a perfectly straight line, even if the building area is offset from the others.
    • rotate freely – rotate on 45 degree angle increments by holding CTRL and sliding your mouse…just like in the Sims! Part of October’s update will also be adding additional support for controllers, although it won’t be fully polished
    • free build mode – my personal favourite: you can go off the grid and rotate at any degree you want! Although the default is set to snapping since we feel like most players would prefer that, you can toggle on free build mode to place things wherever you’d like
    • placing multiple things on surfaces – as long as there’s enough room, you can stuff as many things on top of a surface, such as a table or counter, as you’d like. No more messy snapping algorithms that limit how you can decorate your kitchen counters when you can just use free build mode!
    • dyes – certain objects, indoors or outdoors, can be dyed with items and their patterns changed. Dyes can be crafted or purchased, and items with different patterns can be purchased from certain NPCs. For example, you can keep the style of your bed frame but swap out the blanket pattern by purchasing a new blanket…you can dye it afterwards, too!

    Alchemy Story

Alchemy Story is a magical farming simulation game where you’ll have to turn the poor townsfolk from animals to humans again! We’ve played an early version of the game on itch.io which you can purchase here, or you can read about here in our review. You can also wishlist the game on Steam here so you’re notified of the Early Access release which is expected this August 2019. If you purchased it earlier on itch.io, you’ll get the Steam code for free when it releases.

Last month’s update Penelope Fineyarn and mines where added, now we get to take a look at newly added Madeline Fineyarn in this new devlog! Once you help her out, this cute tailor will open her boutique in Rosehill and you’ll be able to shop for new outfits! Another new area added is the Market. You can now unlock eight market stalls in the town center and place your ingredients for sale. You can add fish to the list of things to sell (five different kinds) as you can now go fishing anywhere with a body of water. Finally, a map and a “guide me” feature has been added so you can follow along to where you’d like to go!

    Ooblets

What can we say about this wonderfully unique simulation and adventure game? Ooblets is about growing and training these adorable creatures on you farm to then follow you in exploring strange lands and doing dance-battles with other trainers and wild Ooblets. There is still no release date as of yet but you can wishlist it on Steam here and expect the game to also release on Xbox One simultaneously. You can catch up with our last article here or read on for the latest devlog (which you can also do here).

Now there’s a rare weather event to catch Gleamies, the rarest variation of each Ooblet type. This sparkly rain brings out a higher chance of running into local Gleamies for you to challenge and looks beautiful too. Below you’ll also see the newly added Ooblet, Spuddle!

    Button City

This game about a fox and his friends trying to save their local arcade is still in early development so we do not have a release date or confirmed platforms but what we do know is that it’s darn cute. A couple of months ago we introduced to you the characters along with their gaming rivalry here but now we have a little more information from their new Patreon page here about how to travel around this beautiful pastel-colored world. They also recently announced that they are hiring 3D artists if you happen to be one and are reading this now.

Use the Zoomie to get to other places in the world super quick. When you play the game you’ll be able to press a button or use a finger gesture to zoom out of the level, enter the level selection stack, and pop into a new place. What you see below are the actual floating islands to which you’ll be navigating so this new form of fast-travel, the Zoomie, is a way to interact with this type of design choice.

We have a sneak peak of the concept art for a new character, Peppermint Pepperbottom, who’s the one behind the wicked scheme to shut down the arcade. You also get to see some lovely art of the downtown street that’s going to have tons of little shops. As of now there’s a market, pizzeria, book store, and a music shop!

Stay tuned with us here at myPotatoGames for the latest and greatest on wholesome games!

The Good Life is a debt repayment daily-life RPG co-developed by SWERY and Yukio Futatsugi, along with their teams at White Owls and G-rounding. Languages will be in both Japanese and English with the possibility of others as subtitles. You can still help fund them on their Kickstarter campaign here as they are very close to their big stretch goal; bringing to game to the Switch. The Good Life will release this Fall 2019 on Xbox One (as well as Xbox Game Pass), PS4, and PC. Look forward to snapping tons of photographs to earn yourself some money, and to discover this strange town’s secret as well as uncovering a mysterious murder!

    About the Good Life

Play as Naomi, a journalist from New York who moves to a backwoods British town called Rainy Woods in order to pay off her massive debt. The only way for her to escape from debt hell is to take pictures of happenings in the town and report on them. Of course, ‘the happiest town in the world’ is not your average town…

The inhabitants of the happiest town in the world are some of the most bizarre people you’ll ever come across. You’ll live alongside them as you solve mysteries and experience a hearty helping of craziness. We’re sure that you’ll eventually come to love all the mystery, horror, and good old charm that this town has to offer.

The townspeople are also hiding a big secret…

In the moonlight, all the townspeople suddenly transform… And suddenly, the town is filled with cats and dogs! Once a month, everyone who lives there transforms into either a cat or a dog. Naturally, Naomi and the player will also turn into a cat or a dog. What happens in the town depends entirely on you! How the townspeople behave, how their lives play out, and how the story ends… It’ll all change based on your decisions.

You’ll be able to select whether you want to transform into a cat or a dog at the very beginning. But if you get far enough in the story, you may reach a point where you can freely switch between them…? Turn into a cat and climb up to high places, scratch walls, and steal fish and chips from kitchens… Or turn into a dog and dig holes, follow scents, and swim in rivers and lakes… It only happens once a month, so make sure you enjoy it to your heart’s content!

    More Information

Note that the gameplay video above has some crude language dialog and is not geared toward younger children. However, the game is very relaxing and mostly centers on open-world exploration and taking pictures. You can take photos of anyone, anything, anywhere, and even see in-game what’s trending to earn yourself more money. Interact with every object that you see and place them wherever you want to take your own unique photos. Some photos will be requested from villagers to complete quests and push the story forward. You might even have to get crafty as some townsfolk will stop what they are doing if they can see you. Furthermore, upgrade your camera to take better quality pictures!

If snapping shots is what interests you, you can check out our other article on Pupperazzi here. If crime-solving is your thing, we’ve got a list of our Top Ten Crime-Solving & Mystery Games here.

Scratch is back and nuttier then ever in Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure for PC and console.

There have been many different games made that revolve around or include characters from the Ice Age movie series, one of the more popular being Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. In this new installment, we will get to play as Scrat, that lovable little prehistoric squirrel thing with an addiction to nuts. His erratic behavior made him a fan favorite in the series, so it is fitting that he is the main character in this soon to be released game.

    About Scrat’s Nutty Adventure

Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure is a 3D action adventure game that takes place in a prehistoric environment, obviously. The primary focus is avoiding all obstacles that one might encounter in said environment, such as blasting geysers and flowing lava. You do this all in an effort to find four special Crystal Nuts, and uncover the secrets of the Scratazon Temple. And no matter the baddies that he encounters, Scrat’s worst enemy will always be his horrible luck, which certainly comes into play in this whimsical Disney title.

For more details on Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure, hop on over to Outright Games official website by clicking here. For more Disney and/or Pixar fun, be sure to check out our coverage of the new Toy Story DLC for Minecraft. Scrat’s Nutty Adventure releases in October this year, and will be available for Nintendo Switch, PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Dragons have been becoming so popular these days and so are their reptilian cousins, the dinosaurs. We here at myPotatoGames have found a couple games you can play right now, as well as one new one in early development that we will be keeping a close eye on. Some dinos may be ferocious but others can also be cute and lovable, and we want to take care of them forever! Well that dream is now a possibility, see how below.

    Parkasaurus

The game is created by indie developer WashBear Studio, based in Canada. It is available on Steam Early Access here and continues to receive regular updates and added features. The most recent additions to Parkasaurus is the Workshop, where you can change dino skins (rainbow-colored woohoo), add new dinosaurs, add buildings and decorations, and the DinoBook, a guide to mini objectives, and a little insight into the Parkasaurus lore. Most importantly, yes those dinos in the trailer were wearing hats. We here at myPotatoGames are especially fond of that cheese hat. This is just the perfect game to play while we wait for Planet Zoo to release in November.

    About Parkasaurus

Parkasaurus challenges the player to plan, design, and construct exhibits that maximize both their Dinos happiness and the park guests’ willingness to spend money! Starting with only a dream and an abandoned park the player will discover new technologies, new attractions, and a special bond with all their Dinos. It’s all captured in stunningly beautiful modernized 3D flat design graphics. In Parkasaurus, fortune is a real possibility and money management is an absolute necessity.

    Key Features

    • Exhibit Design: Each dinosaur requires a unique biosphere – the shape of exhibit, materials used, ecology, plants, elevation and humidity all make a difference
    • Park Creation and Management: Wisely spend resources to build the ultimate Dino Park and turn a profit to ensure future stability
    • Guest Monetization: By reading reviews and observing your guests, fine tune your parks flow and arrangement to maximize happiness
    • Employee Management: Level up rookie hires or bring on established veterans to help run your park smoothly
    • Time Travel for Dino Eggs: Go back in time to retrieve the hottest (and oldest) Dino Eggs
    • Chaotic Dino Escapes: Handle with care your Dino rampages by switching into first person view
    • Year Round Challenges: Manage unexpected weather disasters and the expected demands of each season

    Unnamed Dino Game

This game has officially just received the green-light to move toward the development phase and therefore we have little to no information other than the dinos will be cute and tamable. Right now we have to make do with the occasional Twitter posts such as: “Here’s an important lesson for any dino rancher! Do you have the skills to tame and earn the trust of wild dinos.” You should also check out the adorable GIFs of dinos below and give them all the support they need!

About This Game by Italic Pig

It’s a casual prehistoric-themed farm/social simulation game where you can catch, collect & ride dinos on your ranch. Build dinosaur pens, keep them happy, and upgrade your farmhouse. Each dino will have different decor needs and preferences for their pens. There will also be a range of colors available for the dinos. Each species will have a specific pool of colors that you can find naturally in the wild.

    Adorable Twitter Posts

Fossil Hunters is a casual action-adventure game about digging for fossils and building your own dinosaurs. You are an adventuring Fossil Hunter who has traveled to a remote, mysterious dig site to discover the most incredible fossils the world has ever seen! Harry and Gary designers from Playtonic Games showed us some gameplay of Yooka-Laylee on Nintendo Treehouse today and we couldn’t BEE more excited! Capital B is up to no good again and has taken over the kingdom of the bees, Royal Stingdom, using a mind-control device called the Hive Mind. Queen Phoebee asks for your help to take him down and save the day. For more information about this game you can check out our earlier article right here. See below for some new information regarding this 2D and 3D platformer.

This time around Capital B has and Impossible Lair, which is named as such because of its extreme level of difficulty. His Lair is filled with swarms of enemies and hazards, and there are no checkpoints. Playtonic says if you are extremely skilled you can just go straight to this Lair and beat the game. We smell a challenge here. The easier way to get inside and defeat Capital B is to free every bee that has been imprisoned at the end of every level in the game. These bees are Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion Guard and will join you in the Lair once freed. Meaning, for every bee you free (total of 48), they will take one hit for you (including falls) to get through to the end.

    3D Overworld

    Noteworthy Mentions

See below for a few points Playtonic revealed that we find most interesting. Want to view the entire Nintendo Treehouse live-stream of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair yourself? Just click on the video provided.

    • Pagies return but this time they offer you an extra brief challenge to win which will unlock more areas.
    • There are new enemies such as spiders from a forest world.
    • Trowzer, a serpent salesman, has returned with deals players literally can’t refuse.
    • If you take a hit and you do not recover Laylee on time, you have to finish the level without her. Meaning, you will not have Laylee’s abilities, at least until you’ve reached a checkpoint (bell).
    • Quills are used as currency to open locked cages and buy items at shops.
