Two Point Hospital, the cheeky hospital management simulation game by Two Point Studios and SEGA, finally has a release date for consoles; February 25th, 2020! Not only will you be able to pre-purchase it digitally right now on the Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store today, with the Nintendo eShop listing coming soon, but there will also be physical copies too!

I enjoyed playing Two Point Hospital on Steam so much that I did a deep dive on how to perfect the game and get all of the stars with some advanced tips and tricks here. Not because the game is overly hard, but that I wanted to pour as many hours into it as possible and enjoy the flood of strange looking patients getting even stranger treatments. For those of you already playing this game, don’t forget you can purchase the Yogscast Jingle Jam Bundle over at Humble Bundle for charity and for some festive goodies.

So many unique genre mash-ups for indie games were announced during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, like Boyfriend Dungeon and The Survivalist, including Sports Story! Sports Story is not only a game with various sports, but also a dungeon-crawler full of mini-games and other activities! This adventure RPG, developed by Sidebar Games, is a sequel to Golf Story, and an exclusive to the Nintendo Switch releasing in Mid-2020. The game is also listed as a multiplayer game of up to 4 players, although it remains to be seen if that’s only for certain aspects of the game or for the whole campaign.

Here are some of the things you can do in the game:

    • Embark on a golfing adventure in both ordinary and fantastical places.
    • Undertake full-time study at a renowned tennis academy.
    • Make friends and enemies in your quest for sporting excellence.
    • Dungeons, espionage, mini-games, buried treasure and you get to meet the queen.
    • Make your coach proud by competing in Decasportathon.

If it’s anything like Golf Story (the colors, the whimsy, the silliness), a winner of awards and a game that truly stood out to me, than I expect really great thing from this title! The developers mention that it is a sequel because of some familiar characters and the story is set sometime after, although it is definitely its own game with a lot more features!

A particular dating sim/dungeon-crawler has caught the attention of gamers everywhere for its unique and questionable premise. Although, if you’re a fan of Anime, you’re probably not fazed in the slightest. During Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase yesterday (December 10th, 2019), the very same indie game by Kitfox Games (Mondo Museum) was announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020! Behold, a game where you can literally fall in love with your weapons; Boyfriend Dungeon!

If you haven’t heard, Boyfriend Dungeon is all about choosing weapons to fight monsters with and then taking them out on dates to level up. Don’t worry, each weapon (total of 7) can transform into humanoids, and there’s one cat in case this wasn’t delightfully weird enough, all with various genders. Think Dream Daddy but the romantic partners aren’t daddies, they’re ‘stabbies’.

Your character is tasked with clearing the creatures in “the dunj” as their summer job and, during your down-time, why not take your weapons out for a stroll on the beach for a job well done and to get to know them better. As the developers like to put it: “A couple that slays together, stays together”. Below are the choices of heart-throbs, or rather heart-piercing, candidates!

Now hopefully we can all still look at our inanimate objects the same way again. Wonder if anyone thinks potatoes are cute? For more information on this “shack-and-slash” and to Wishlist it on Steam, go here!

Thanks to Nintendo’s live-stream today of Indie World Showcase, we got to see some pretty exciting indie games coming in 2020. My favorite announcement was a new survival game set in the Escapists Universe: The Survivalists, created by Team17. You can play alone or in co-op with up to three friends and explore, build, and craft together! Survive the island, a procedurally generated sandbox world, on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam in 2020.

The best part about The Survivalists is that you can tame monkeys and have them help you with building or fighting off enemies! Managing these adorable monkey employees working for bananas properly will make all the difference in braving the wilderness! Also, look at the little monkeys with their little spears and coconuts. Look at ’em!

    About The Survivalists

The island is alive! Your newfound home will change with day/night cycles as you explore and uncover its secrets. Hunt (or be hunted by!) animals for food and meet the local inhabitants, who aren’t necessarily pleased to see you. Get quests from a Mysterious Stranger or find them washed up on the shore. Prepare to trek into a procedurally generated wilderness, with a variety of biomes, for an adventure that’s unique to every player.

    Build Together, Survive Together

Finding the perils of island life too much or just looking to share your building expertise with friends? The Survivalists has you covered! Complete joint adventures, gain loot, trade and ultimately survive together and as you and up to three fellow castaways explore an island paradise.

    Monkey See, Monkey Do

If you’re in need of a builder, a lumberjack or even a soldier, the monkeys on the island can be tamed and trained to help you with everyday tasks or back you up on raids to a fanatic camp! The Mimic System means a wide variety of functions can be performed by your banana loving friends, with monkey management becoming key to surviving the island’s challenges.

    Get Crafty

The secret to survival is to make the most of the resources around you. Whether that’s piecing together a primitive axe to chop wood or mixing up a refreshing fruit smoothie to keep the hunger at bay, you can discover recipes and expand your options across food, item or structure crafting trees.

    Run the Gauntlet

Looking for an epic sword to hang on your hut wall or want to lay waste to encroaching hostiles? What you seek could be in one of the many temples scattered around the island. However, getting your hands on the loot won’t be easy so any would-be raiders will need to prepare for their treasure hunting crusade.

Wishlist The Survivalists on Steam right here!

Nintendo just announced that they are doing an Indie World Showcase in just 24 hours.

Four months ago was our last Indie World Showcase, and we got a look at some pretty awesome games, some now available on the Nintendo Switch. Some of of my favorites from the last showcase were The Tourist, Best Friend Forever and Phogs. For some reason, cute little indie games just seem right at home on the Switch.

In a recent Tweet, Nintendo announced that they will be doing another Indie World Showcase tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. PT. The presentation will last about twenty minutes, and will feature indie games that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, sooner or later.

If you would like to view the presentation as soon as it airs, you can do so on the official Nintendo website. If you do happen to miss it, worry not. I intend to cover all the cute games that are revealed during the showcase. If you feel like checking out some awesome Indies right now, check out my coverage of the best cute indie games available now for Switch.

After releasing the Most Wholesome Game Releases in December article recently, I of course find more potato-friendly games releasing this week (December 2nd to December 6th, 2019)! All games are already available now on consoles and PC so you can start playing whatever genre suits your fancy such as a classic RPG, a relaxing adventure, or unique puzzle games!

    Heroland – December 3rd

The Heroland theme park offers guests an authentic RPG-style adventure for a price, but when a scruffy young park guide and his guests uncover ulterior motives by the organizers, legends become reality, and guests must take the fate of the park (and the world!) into their own hands. Created by an all-star development team consisting of key people behind MOTHER 3, Legend of Mana, and Fantasy Life, this 2D adventure brings not only a host of quirky heroes and their unique abilities to join your party for a new take on classic RPG-style combat, but also a colorful cast of monsters employed by the theme park, many with their own stories to tell!

Heroland is developed by FuRyu and Netchubiyori Limited, and published by XSEED. It is available now on The Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. Even with Bug Fables out now, I still have a classic Paper Mario-shaped void in my heart that this game looks like it can help fill!

    Arise: A Simple Story – December 3rd

Set out on an adventure through the changing landscapes of memories lush with feelings of love and loss. Every moment of this rollercoaster ride is a new challenge and a chance to see your life in a different light. Enter the wonderful world of memories and feelings brought to life by the talented artists from Piccolo Studio. Discover the heartfelt magic in your personal, everyday struggles thanks to the game’s soulful music and beautiful art direction. Control the flow of time (or invite another player to do so) and change your surroundings from the shifting of seconds to entire seasons. Fast forward, move back or pause time to relive your memories and overcome every obstacle on your journey.

Arise: A Simple Story is published by Techland and developed by Piccolo Studio. It is available now on Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and PS4. The graphics and soundtrack are so beautiful and peaceful I feel like I might be crying with this game. In a good way.

    JigSaw Solace – December 3rd

JigSawSolace is a calming and relaxing puzzle game with 6 different themes to choose from, 4 different difficulty size to adjust any time during playing, 30 high quality puzzle images. soft, relaxing and cheerful music, and the ability to adjust background themes. There are puzzles for kids and adults such as cartoon animals, outer space, and beautiful landscapes.

JigSaw Solace is created by Playstige Interactive and is available now on the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch for under $5! Rejoice cat-lovers! Now you can play digital jigsaw puzzles so your furry children do not eat the required assembly parts.

Tick Tock: A Tale for Two – December 5th

Tick Tock: A Tale for Two is a two-player co-op adventure game that is all about communication. Players have to unravel a narrative together, talk to each other about what they are doing and what they see in order to solve puzzles. Tick Tock is played on two devices, either mobile, tablet or computer.

Tick Tock: A Tale for Two is created by Other Tales Interactive and is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. The gameplay reminds me of something similar to Them Bombs which is a unique way to solve puzzles with a friend!
