Pile Up is a cooperative 3D platformer for 1 to 4 players where you play as adorable customizable boxes (Boxlings) and navigate colorful cardboard worlds! Now the developers, Seed by Seed, have made a wonderful announcement that they will be pairing up with publishers HandyGames (El Hijo) and be able to make Pile Up the best it can be!

Not only will you be able to Wishlist this game on Steam, but now it will also be coming to all consoles! Sometime in 2020 you’ll be able to play Pile Up on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC! I’m personally very excited by this news and can’t wait to play!

What we know so far is that there’s a hub world leading to several themed levels that have adorable boxy animals and puzzles to solve by coordinating with friends and using fun items. The developers have even added mini-games you can play together such as the action-packed Boxball, Pile of Dunk and Tic Pile Toe! If you want to follow what else the developers are up to, check out their official Twitter page!

Just can’t get enough of all the great deals this Black Friday, and Amazon has amazing discounts on games.

Some of my favorite games are available at a decent discount through Amazon right now. Whether it is a gift for a friend or family member, or a nice treat for yourself, this is the best time of year to get a new game or two. Amazon has made this just a bit easier by offering some of the years biggest games at some pretty sweet prices.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This epic adventure game has been described as one of the best games ever made, and it is pretty obvious why. Being the most recent installment in the super popular franchise, Breath of the Wild really wowed, as expected. Now you can get your own copy for half off the normal price. That’s right, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently only $30.00!! Check out the deal here!

    Super Mario Party

Speaking of games that are half off, Super Mario Party is also only thirty bucks. Super Mario Party was released for Switch earlier this year, and was also very well received. I much enjoyed playing it myself, and am very pleased with how far the Mario Party games have come. Without straying too far from the original theme, the upgrades made to the series in this title certainly made it stand out above the rest. Check out the deal here!

    Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

    Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Icon

Unfortunately, the discount for this game is not as grand. With only $10 knock off, the game is now available for $49.94. However, if you are also in the need of a Nintendo Switch, you can get the game for free in a bundle. Super Mario Kart 8 is the latest installment in the Mario Kart series, and has been a huge hit on the Switch. I have been playing Kart since SNES, and 8 Deluxe has definitely made the franchise proud. Check out the deal here!

    Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee

    Tamagotchi Eevee

The Let’s Go games are just as cute and fun as any other Pokemon game currently available. With the use of its very own accessory, the Pokemon Let’s Go games really stood out as interesting and unique.  Set in the diverse region of Kanto, use skill, timing and a well-placed Poké Ball to catch your favorite Pokemon. Now, you can try it for yourself for only $42.99, down from $60. Check out the deal here!

    Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

    Crash Bandicoot Switch

The remakes of the classic Crash Bandicoot games have been a wonderful nostalgia hit for many fans of the series. The trilogy features the remakes of the first three games in the series, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and. Crash Bandicoot Warped. You can get the full series of remakes for the Nintendo Switch for only $19.99, down from $39.99. Check out the deal here.

    LEGO Incredibles

The Incredibles is one of the cutest movies to come out of Hollywood, ever. The movies have also had some pretty fun games made after them. Now, there is a LEGO version of the popular game based on the movie. That game is on sale for only $19.99. A really great deal on a really great game.

These are just some of my favorite picks from the deals currently available. Check out the official Amazon website for a full list of deals on games.

The 3DS is dead! We keep hearing this. Is it true? Well…sort of. It’s certain that new 3DS games are very thin on the ground these days. But even if the amount of NEW games coming to 3DS is scanty, the existing library is already ENORMOUS! And very high-quality, too. Just check out this list of adorable games you can try for FREE right this minute and see if you don’t agree! We highly recommend grabbing your 3DS and snatching these demos off the e-shop if you have not done so already.

    Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn

Extra Epic Yarn is just the newest in the Kirby series. Including the Virtual Console games, there are 14 Kirby games to play on 3DS. As for demos, 3DS also has them for Kirby: Battle Royale and Kirby: Planet Robobot. This is a Nintendo first-party series, so we doubt we need to tell you what it’s about. This is action-adventure gaming in that adorable way that is so classically Nintendo!

    Monster Hunter Stories

Ever been interested in Monster Hunter, but thought it wasn’t really very, well…cute? Well Monster Hunter Stories is the answer to your problem! This cute spin-off from the main series is just what fans of happy, wholesome gaming would want. Collect monster eggs and hatch yourself some monster buddies, each with unique skills. You can even do some gene-mixing to create monsters with the best abilities. You’re going to need a good team to get through this game’s big world and the many side quests that branch off from the main story.

    Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit!

Cooking Mama is the mother of all cooking games. (Sorry, we had to say it!) And you can try Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit! for free any time you want, and see why games that came after it (like Waku Waku Sweets) have modelled themselves after this cute series. And if cooking is just not your thing, have a look at Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends instead! It’s every bit as cute. Possibly even cuter if you’re more about cute critters and pretty flowers than strawberry-topped cupcakes. (Do we really HAVE to choose? Oh wait…NO, WE DON’T. Both of these games have demos!)

    Style Savvy: Fashion Forward

The 3DS has demos for both Style Savvy: Styling Star and Style Savvy: Fashion Forward. In our review of Style Savvy: Styling Star we show that it is a pretty good game itself! But if we compare the two, we give Fashion Forward the edge on it. You won’t just be dealing with designing clothing and dressing customers in these games. Giving someone a new style involves hair and make-up, too!

    Pokemon (many versions!)

There are plenty of Pokemon games free to try on 3DS. Not just Sun/Moon, but also Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and spin-off Pokemon games Detective Pikachu and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity! Not sure you’d like a spin-off? Thanks to the wonderful invention of game demos, you can try these charming games for free whenever you please.

    Disney Art Academy

Even if you can’t draw, Art Academy instructional games help you produce surprisingly good work! If you love how cute Disney characters are and wish you could draw them yourself, Disney Art Academy is definitely the game for you.

    Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder

Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder is a very unique game. We’ve never played another quite like it. In it you are a tiny robot who is helping to make the opening of a new museum a success. You won’t just be cleaning up little messes and finding stamps, you will be collecting relics of the past. You buy pieces of film with silhouettes cut into them, and then search history (our real world!) for an object that matches it. Take a picture with your 3DS camera to match that silhouette as precisely as possible and Chibi-Robo can transport the object and put it on display in the museum!

    Ever Oasis

This game is so unspeakably cute that it makes our teeth ache! It must just be that sweet. But we love it…oh my, yes. Ever Oasis is about defending the desert’s last oasis. You must turn this poor little puddle into a safe haven to house all of the creatures who have been unhomed by the malicious and fast-spreading Chaos. Explore and conquer dungeons and rescue other survivors and escapees. If you can entice them, they will move into your oasis and open their own shops or provide services such as farming for you or heading out into the desert to gather resources. Put those with the right skills into your party and no barrier will keep you back. Build your little oasis into a thriving bastion of health and happiness!

As many of you may have gathered by now, I’m a bit of a feline fanatic. Having procured a Switch console this year, I have been meaning to make a cat-themed Switch game listicle for a while. Having finally gotten around to it, here you have it; Nine Nintendo Switch Games For Cat Lovers. (Nine because nine lives)

    Calico

This project started with a love for magical girls, cats, and a want to create a game that’s light, pink, cute, fluffy, and feminine. It also incorporates everything that’s enjoyable from a simulation game like Animal Crossing (furniture, decorations) but the animals will not leave/die, the shop will never close and the crops will not rot. The objective of the game is to make the town’s cat café active and full of cuddly creatures again such as cats, deer, raccoons, dogs, turtles, red pandas, foxes and more! For more Calico info head over here.

    Cat Quest

Cat Quest is an open world, action adventure RPG set in a world of cats, developed by The Gentlebros. The Cat Quest page on the Nintendo website (which is full of cat puns) explains how your player’s sister is kidnapped and you therefore embark on a journey to save her from the evil Drakoth. Available for only £9.99 on the Nintendo eShop, Cat Quest for Switch is a purr-chase your bank account won’t hate you for!

    Cat Quest II

Cat Quest II is an upcoming open world RPG where you play as both a cat and a dog (hisss!). Explore an extensive world filled with monsters, dungeons and quests as you restore peace to your kingdoms in a time of war. This forthcoming feline follow-up will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Android, iOS, and Windows.

    Snacko

Snacko is a farming simulation game developed by an indie studio called bluecurse, based in Vancover, BC, Canada. The founders, husband and wife Jordan and Erisa, wanted to create a world “where cats rule the land” and so the project began in 2018. Snacko is expected to release sometime in the year 2021 for PC and Nintendo Switch. Get some more news on this cat-tactic game!

    BlobCat

In BlobCat you are tasked with the job of protecting the DiceMice from the naive BlobCats. With more than 90 different levels spanning over 6 worlds, Place arrows and guide the Dicemice to the Micehole! With local and online multiplayer, you and up to 3 other players can attempt to outsmart each other and send the BlobCats a-calling. The game costs a reasonable £8.99 to download from the Nintendo eShop.

    Night In The Woods

Night in the Woods is an autumnal themed indie adventure game. Highly relatable to many, the game shows the crumbling former mining town of Possum Springs. After the protagonist, Mae Borowski drops out of college and returns to her hometown, she finds things as gloomy and hopeless as ever. But this time there’s something more. Strange and eery occurrences are happening. And there’s something in the woods. This charming game with beautiful music can be purchased for only £17.09 on the Switch eShop.

    I and Me

I and Me is a platform puzzle game developed by Chinese studio Wish Fang and published by Ratalaika Games. It was released for Nintendo Switch in Japan and PAL regions on July 6, 2017 and in North America on July 13, 2017. Controlling two cats simultaneously, the objective of the game is to get them both safely to the end of each level. Whilst initially fairly easy, having two characters perform exactly the same action makes it increasingly more difficult to complete the game’s 92 levels. With a soothing soundtrack and four season-themed chapters, the game is pretty affordable at £8.99

    Mineko’s Night Market (upcoming)

Mineko’s Night Market is a cute cat-themed upcoming game for PC, Mac and Switch by Meowza games. You play as Mineko, a girl who has just moved to a superstitious island overrun with cats. The aim of the game is to find materials, craft items and sell them at the Night Market. You can befriend villagers, fish, undertake quests, play mini-games, plus more! Whilst it was initially hoped that the game would be released in late 2018, its release has now been pushed back until 2020.

    Little Friends: Dogs & Cats

Little Friends: Dogs & Cats is a pet simulation game for Nintendo Switch. The Nintendogs-esque game is set to be released in Japan on 6th December. The game allows players to reside and play with cats and dogs with “lifelike models, textures, expressions, and animations.”

    Spacecats with Lasers

Spacecats with Lasers is a cat-themed casual combat game. Help your Spacecat eliminate the Evil Space Rats and defeat the Pug King in this wild wave-shooter game. With plenty of perks and power-ups, plus the ability to customise your cat with items unlocked on your journey, you can have both a fashionable and fierce feline fighter. Whether you prefer a calmer cat caper, or want a “nerve-wracking bullet hell”, the game’s different difficulty options have you covered.

After going through all of these, I realized there are eleven, looks like this cat found some extra lives. 😀

For even more cat themed games head over here!

The latest Nintendo Direct gave us some insight on the SNES games coming to Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will now have access to a variety of classic games from the classic console Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Not all of the games released were on our list, but we did see a few that have been part of the foundation for who we are as myPotatoGamers. There are definitely some super sweet classics that we are overjoyed to be able to access from this awesome modern console.

    Super Mario Kart

When it comes to cute style racing games, Mario Kart always finishes first. With a wonderful assortment of characters from the Mario universe, Super Mario Kart started it all. With tracks as basic as the graphics, Super Mario Kart captured our imagination as to what racing games could be. No need for the dazzle-dazzle super charged craziness machines we drive in real life. All you need is a cute little cart and an even cuter driver.

Zelda: A Link To The Past

The Zelda series has hit us with some really great games over the years. But we must always remember our roots. LoZ: A Link to the Past was originally released in North America in November of 1991, then later ported to the Gameboy Advance in December of 2002. A prequel to the original titles, Link to the Past was one of the best selling games for the Super Nintendo, and it’s pretty obvious why. The cutesy graphics alone are enough to have us replaying this one for years to come.

    Super Mario World

Of all of the Mario titles that we’ve seen, Super Mario World still holds a little place in our hearts. The good ole days of booting up the SNES to partake in the most grand adventures as Mario himself, with the help of many classic friends that have been longstanding heroes too many. Super Mario World was released in North America in August of 1991, and was also ported to the Gameboy Advance in 2002. Super Mario World also happens to be the best selling game for the Super Nintendo.

    Kirby’s Dream Land 3

Kirby is definitely one of the cutest characters ever! He has a place in the Nintendo family for some time. That adorable pink ball of fluff has been there through thick and thin, sucking up bad guys and stealing their powers. Dream Land 3 was released in North America in 1997 and received mixed reviews from critics. But no matter how easy people thought the game was, it still etched out it’s own little place in our hearts.

    Kirby’s Dream Course

Golf is a fun and relaxing past time that has had many video games themed around it. The cutest one possibly being Kirby’s Dream Course. Like every other golf game ever, the goal is to get the ball in the whole. Only in Kirby’s Dream Course, the ball is Kirby. Dodge obstacles and take aim to send Kirby to his home, the hole. Now we will have a chance to play this charming golf title again as it’s added to SNES list on Switch Online.

    Super Puyo Puyo 2

Go back to you Puyo Puyo roots with Super Puyo Puyo 2. The popular Tetris-like game series has been making a big splash lately with the release of Puyo Puyo Champions. Super Puyo Puyo 2 takes us back to old school style in this ever-challenging puzzle game. Link up some blobs to get em poppin as Super Puyo Puyo 2 is available now!

For more information about the classic games coming to Nintendo Switch Online, you can check out the official Nintendo website. If you would like to take your nostalgia gaming to the next level, keep an eye out for the SNES controller coming soon.

myPotatoGames is a project created out of love for indie and wholesome games. We feel that a lot of big video game news websites are too “cool” to be covering the games we love so much. We create a hub for games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Cat Quest, Ooblets, Minekos Night Market, and so many other games that often don’t get the spotlight they deserve.

While this project is mainly founded on the passion and love for casual video games. We still have server costs to cover and potatoes to fry. Joining our Patreon and expressing your support for what we do is not only extremely humbling, but it will also help us keep doing what we do best – connecting players with wholesome, cute and lovely video games and supporting the indie community.

If you love what we do, and you decide to support us, then we want to make sure your contributions is well appreciated. We will continue to cover the world of indie and wholesome games for you and for all of us and expand our creative content along the way!

    much love,

You know what we hear a lot when talking to fellow fans of games like Story of Seasons, and sometimes even Animal Crossing? That FISHING is their favourite part of the game! After hearing this sentiment so many times, we’ve decided to compile a list of games dedicated entirely to fishing, all coming soon to or already available on Nintendo Switch. Get your fishing games here, ladies and gentlemen!

Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure releases on September 17

Natsume’s most recent tweet about this game lauded it as having “Crafting, cooking, a full RPG storyline, and of course – fishing!” The idea of a full RPG storyline is intriguing! Most fishing simulation games have goals and maybe a bare-bones framework of a story, but if Road Trip Adventure really has a full RPG storyline, that’ll be pretty unique. We’re looking forward to learning just what this story entails when the game releases on September 17th.

The game is not yet available to view on the Nintendo Switch e-shop, nor the Playstation Store. But it is available to pre-order at GameStop for both Switch and PS4 for $29.99. It can also be seen on Natsume’s own site. Or you can watch a video right here!

Fishing Star World Tour: Is it new, or isn’t it?

    Fishing Star World Tour Aksys

Aksys Games has a new game coming up, due for release in September (no specific date given) and already available to pre-order a physical copy of at most retail game sites. And it looks great! Colourful, slightly ‘cartoony’ graphics, much cuter than most fishing games have, and over 180 fish to catch across 40 different locations! You even have the option to use motion controls.

    Screenshot from Aksys Games

So what is the confusion? Well…Fishing Star World Tour is ALREADY on the Nintendo Switch e-shop. It has been since January 2019, with the publisher listed as WFS. The screenshots used to promote each version of the game show no noticeable difference in content. Except for a disclaimer screen at the beginning of Aksys’ video, both the trailer on the e-shop page and the trailer Aksys uploaded appear to be the same one. Aksys’ trailer can be watched here:

Colour us confused! Is it that Aksys picked this up so that the game can be offered in physical form, or is Aksys’ version different in some way? And if so, is it a very minor way, such as text changes, or is there some difference in actual gameplay? We have contacted Aksys for some clarification and will update this article if we receive an answer. Until then, we are assuming that the digital version (already available from WFS) and the physical version (available from Aksys in September) are the same game, or with minor localization changes only.

You can get this game on the Switch e-shop ($29.99) or order it on Aksys’ site (regular $29.99 but at the time of writing, on sale for $23.99)

Fishing games already on Nintendo Switch

    Fishing Universe Simulator

We like that in this game, every time you catch a fish, you will have a ‘keep’ and ‘release’ option. So you can catch fish to sell, or release them to swim away after you’ve had the accomplishment of catching them. You can even stuff your fish to turn them into trophies for your wall. It’s all up to you! (Publisher: Forever Entertainment. Added to Switch e-shop Jan 2019. Regular price: $9.99)

    Fishing Universe Simulator

    Dynamite Fishing

This…is NOT your typical fishing game. For one thing, the art style has no semblance of realism…it’s very colourful and entirely cartoony. And very tongue-in-cheek, too! “Fly fishing is boring! Grab your guns and explosives and let’s catch some fish REDNECK STYLE!” And all in a boat made of a repurposed bathtub, it seems. (Publisher: World Games. Added to Switch e-shop Dec 2018. Regular price $9.99)

Just a few of the features Dynamite Fishing has to offer: a multiplayer mode, ten boats with different equipment, 5 player characters to choose from (each with plenty of their own customization options), and competitive matches against virtual opponents. Of all the fishing games we found for Switch, Dynamite fishing sounds the most unique. And the most chaotic!

    Dynamite Fishing

    Rapala Fishing Pro Series

Rapala Fishing Pro Series offers you the opportunity to take part in “world class tournaments and daily challenges”. You can earn money and climb the ranks as an angler until you become a professional You can even become the best in the world! A feature unique to Rapala is that you must gain sponsors in your quest to become the best angler in the world. Weather conditions will also affect your fishing. Catch not only legendary fish, but also monster fishes! (We wonder if this means you can catch Nessie.) (Developer: Concrete Software. Publisher: GameMill Entertainment. Added to Switch e-shop Oct 2018. Regular price $29.99)

    Rapala Fishing Pro Series

    Legendary Fishing

In Legendary Fishing, you spend most of your fishing time viewing the underwater world, witnessing the fish dart this way and that on the line. There are over 20 types of fish to catch, and 80 missions to complete that will see you rise from ‘casual angler’ to ‘legendary fisher’. Four seasons, ten venues, and various weather conditions to fish in. Four people can play together, in classic control style or with motion controls. (Publisher: Ubisoft. Added to Switch e-shop Sep 2018. Regular price $29.99…but 50% off at the time of writing.)

If you love fishing games, then you may also love farming games, because almost all farming simulation games include fishing. Check out our list of farming games on console!
