Christmas is arriving early for lucky Switch owners in Japan, who will be able to get their hands on an improved version of Yo-Kai Watch 4 as early as December 5th.

Yo-Kai Watch 4++ is an improved version of Yo-Kai Watch 4, which was released for Nintendo Switch in Japan on June 20th. The upcoming enhanced version of the game includes features such as multiplayer, new areas to explore, and a variety of new Yo-Kai to catch.

Players who already own a copy of Yo-Kai Watch 4 needn’t miss out, as they can purchase Yo-Kai Watch 4++ for just 1,650 yen (approximately US$15).

For those unfamiliar with the original Yo-Kai Watch 4 game, here is a summary:

Yo-Kai Watch 4 is an RPG game developed for Nintendo Switch by Level-5. The game, like its three predecessors, features a boy named Nate. Nate possesses a ‘Yo-Kai Watch’ which allows him to see, befriend and summon creatures called Yo-Kai.

Yo-Kai Watch 4 takes place in three different worlds. Each world is associated with one of the game’s protagonists:

    • Natsume (set 30 years after the first three games)
    • Keita (contemporaneous with the first three games)
    • Shin (set 30 years prior to the first three games)

Additionally, players can unlock a fourth Yo-Kai World where the Yo-Kai live.

Whilst no official release date for a western release of Yo-Kai Watch 4 has been announced, hopefully it will be soon!

Halloween is one of my favorite seasons of the year, pretty much as much as any other season that lets me put up festive decorations. Nintendo kicked off the Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Halloween season with some adorable costumes.

The latest addition to Pocket Camp includes some super – not so spooky – Halloween costumes that you can grab from the shop now. Nintendo also recently invited Jack back in order to host the current garden event! If you haven’t stopped by to say Hi yet, make sure to load up Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and get your campsite looking spooky in anticipation of this years Halloween season!

If you haven’t heard yet, Nintendo also recently gifted 250 leaf tickets to all players as an apology for the recent changes Gulliver – the perfect amount to spend on some Halloween costumes and decor!

Sega has recently released a gameplay trailer for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, and the game looks absolutely adorable.

In case you missed it, the last Super Monkey Ball title for console is being remade, and is titled Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD. It will feature many improvements over the original, including new levels and some amped up graphics. You will once again have to help Aiai recover the scattered pieces of the Golden Banana Bunch. Time for some more mad dashing and banana snatching for all the Super Monkey Ball fans, the wait is finally over!

The original title was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2006, and had a mostly warm reception. Some criticized the game for having somewhat difficult controls, given that the title was run with the Wii’s motion controls, and could be difficult to use when trying to play a game that can require some real precision at time. Luckily, the new title will have control sets optimized for each console. Not having to deal with motion controls will be a big plus here!

The new trailer gives us a look at what exactly we are headed into with Banana Blitz HD. You can tell right away that the update to the graphics was a major focal point for this remake, which makes total sense since the title was only changed by the letters HD. Aside from the graphics, SMB: Banana Blitz HD will feature 100 main levels and 10 multiplayer mini-games.

The new title will also feature online leaderboards, which is something totally new to the Super Monkey Ball Series. Banana Blitz HD will be releasing for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and later for PC. Be sure to keep a close eye out, as this game currently has a release set for 10-29-2019 and can be pre-order via Amazon already!

Have you ever wanted to be a grape?  To be honest, we previously hadn’t really thought about it.  But once Garden Story made us ask ourselves that question, we realized that we do, indeed, want to be grapes!  Garden Story is a life-simulation adventure-RPG by Picogram, due to be published in spring 2020 by Rose City Games and Viz Media.

In Garden Story, you play as Concord.  He’s a grape.  (We’re not sure if ‘he’ is a ‘he’, though.  Do grapes HAVE gender?)  Concord has a new job: he has become the village guardian.  It’s a task that would normally only require one to keep the village in good shape and the villagers happy, but something terrible has snuck onto the island under Concord’s watch.  ROT.

Rot has begun to spread through the island, and it must be stopped before it overtakes everything.  Thankfully, Concord lives in a village of nice peop…fruits.  They’re a great bunch!  If Concord is a good guardian and helps the villagers with their problems, they’ll be inclined to return the favour.  Concord will have to be wise with time, because there is an environment to take care of, an island that needs exploring, friendships to make, and puzzles to solve.

    Garden Story Features:

    • Restore a dilapidated island: Explore and cultivate each of the four regions as Concord the Grape.
    • Nurture your environment: Care for garden plots, gather resources, and upgrade your tools to better take care of your new home.
    • Solve the mystery of the Rot: Uncover the island’s broken past as you solve puzzles and defend yourself against the corruption of Rot.
    • Curate a library: Deposit and catalogue resources to create a library of island lore!
    • Set your pace: Care for garden plots by day, take a stroll in the evening, or focus on completing favors…It’s all up to you!
    • Acquire memories: Experience new things to fill Concord’s scrapbook with usable perks and traits!

Garden Story will be playable on PC, Mac and Linux. If you’re curious about this game, you can watch the video below, or visit Garden Story’s Steam page to put it on your wishlist. If you’d like to see more cute games where you adventure around, helping people, check out Errand Boy and Chicory.

Coffee Talk is a narrative game currently in development and production by Toge Productions. You may know Toge for games like She and the Light Bearer or Magicat.

Although seemingly dark, we find Coffee Talk to be a warm and relaxing story of everyday problems through the lens of magic.

    About Coffee Talk

Set in an alternate version of Seattle, Washington, you will be a barista serving fantastical patrons. As rain fills the night outside, you’ll get a glimpse into the lives of orcs, elves, mermaids, and more. You will participate in dialogue with customers while also trying to perfect whatever drink they order.

Unlike other narrative-based games, the storylines and decisions will branch not from your dialogue options but from “how you treat and serve the customers of your café.”

A dark and earthy color scheme meets with a ‘90s anime-inspired art style that is both beautiful and calming. On top of that, the music is a jazzy assortment of lo-fi. Toge calls the game “an experience to make you think, feel, and help rest your body and soul.”

    Game Features:

    • Fantasy Characters: Although the problems are familiar, the characters are anything but. Meet mermaids, orcs, elves, and other yet-to-be-disclosed fantasy races.
    • Unique Outcomes: The way you treat characters while serving them will change the decisions they make.
    • Chill Aesthetics: Along with the look of the game, you will have a selection of chillhop music to help set the scene.

    Here’s the teaser trailer

Coffee Talk is slated for a PC and Mac release “sometime after midnight” this year. A playable demo is available on Steam, itch.io, or directly from Toge Productions’ website. You can follow updates for the game on Twitter.

Need a relaxing game while you wait? We recommend Unpacking. Want more visual novel games? We’ve got that, too, with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy and What Remains of Edith Finch.
