Coral Island has everything you could want in a life sim game, plus so much more.

A whole new island adventure, Coral Island, is currently in the works by a small development team out of Indonesia, Stairway Games. This new title is a life simulation game with all the goodies that we’ve come to love over the years; like farming, building, crafting and even relationships!

    [gamipress_points]

This game appears to have a Stardew Valley feel when it comes to the gameplay, but the art style is a touch more aesthetically pleasing! Keep in mind that the game is still in development, and all details are subject to change. Given what I have seen so far, I can already tell that I wouldn’t want much to change!

Possibly an overview of the island, and space for town!

    Make the island your home!

You start the game by arriving as a newbie to a small island, with only five-hundred gold in your pocket. Luckily, that is just enough to buy yourself a farm to start a grand new life in this wonderful place. Get to know the locals and start to expand your farm to help the local community thrive. Do your best to create a magnificent ecosystem that will survive through the changing seasons.

Firepit GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Once the time is right and you feel truly at home, you can start dating and look at creating a family to occupy the amazing abode that you have created. There are over forty other islanders that you will get to meet and interact with. How you behave with each one will determine how your relationship grows. Whether you are mean and dismissive to get them to hate you, or give gifts and compliments to get them to love you; it’s all entirely up to you.

    In the meantime.

When you are not building a home and a family on Coral Island, there will be plenty of other things to help you occupy your time. You do live the island life, after all. Make it your mission to go diving to help clean and protect the local coral reef. The reefs are of dire importance when it comes to ensuring the health of the local flora and fauna. There is no better way to make sure that your island grows and flourishes.

    Concept art for veggies.

If you feel that your island or farm is not progressing at the rate you’d like, you can visit the local mine to gather stronger materials. Use things like gems and gold to upgrade your tools and your farm. However, as usual, you can expect some resistance “in them there” caves. But hey, has a little light combat ever really prevented anyone from getting to that good good loot…I don’t think so.

From what I can see so far, this will definitely be a game worth keeping an eye on. The art alone drew me in, and now I’m hooked. I can’t wait to see what the developers have to share next! The developers have not yet chosen what platform/s the game will be released on, and there is no set release date.

Possibly some of the inhabitants of Coral Island!

Developers of Picontier are still plugging away to make their game’s release as grand as possible.

For those that may have missed it, Picontier is a slow paced and relaxing life sim game. The game contains aspects of farming, building, fishing and crafting. There will also be a light combat element, for those that seek the rewards of a dungeon master. Picontier is currently in the works, and the developers are pushing for a release of 2020.

    Picontier

    A bit about Picontier.

Picontier is a mini RPG game that allows players to enjoy slow-living on a whimsical island after being washed ashore. Additionally, the game contains a charming story and a variety of strange island creatures to communicate with. The game features some classic tunes that remind me of old school Gameboy games, which totally sets the mood for this classic styled RPG.

    Picontier
    Picontier

Picontier will release on the Nintendo Switch, PC, 3DS, and PS4 sometime next year. I will be keeping a close eye on this one, and will bring updates as they come. If you would like to keep up with Picontier yourself, be sure to follow them on Twitter.

The independent game community is quite a strong one, and has produced many games available for Switch!

Maybe the best thing about an indie game is that you know whoever made it really cared about what they were making. A true passion for one’s work tends to show in the final product. This much cannot always be said for some of the bigger games out there, that take many people to create. Many times, indies are even made by a single person with a drive to share a part of themselves with the world.

If you also happen to always be on the lookout for a good indie game that you can play on the Nintendo Switch, here is a list of the ones that I personally like and are available now. I like to keep track of the news on upcoming indies, like Calico and Mineko’s Night Market, as you know. But knowing about games coming soon is never as fun as finding out about some hidden treasures you may not know about that you can play immediately.

    Baba Is You

Baba Is You is cute little puzzle game that uses word combinations to solve puzzles and proceed through the world. In the game, you will use your character to move different parts of sentences to change the world around you. You can sometimes even change the goal you have to achieve simply by moving the right words to the right place. The game has a very simple yet cute feel, and costs only $15.00 through the Nintendo eShop.

    Untitled Goose Game

With the exploding popularity of this title, it might come as a surprise to some that Untitled Goose Game is actually an independently made game. Developed by House House and published by Panic, Goose Game hit huge with the gaming community for its whimsical and hilarious theme. Take on the role of goose that is determined to break the world to pieces with simple shenanigans. You can try out this indie hit for yourself now for just $19.99 through the Nintendo eShop.

    Kine

Kine is a 3D narrative puzzle game about three daring machines that aspire to be musicians. Embark across a theatrical dreamscape by solving a wide variety of increasingly difficult 3D puzzles. Overcooked 2

The Overcooked games are pretty well known at this point. Dash around the hectic kitchens to prepare all manner of insane and intricate dishes. Play solo or with friends in an attempt to not be overcome by demand, and “overcook” all of your dishes. Overcooked 2 is currently available on the Nintendo Switch and costs $24.99. A bit more pricey than the rest of the Indies, but rest assured that much TLC has gone into making this game as fun and whacky as possible.

Eric also known as ConcernedApe just released a major update for Stardew Valley. The 1.4 update nearly touched every aspect of the game and added tons of new features. It comes at no surprise that a big patch like this also introduces a few glitches here and there.

Rest assured Eric posted a small update on Twitter informing fans of the game that a new bug fix update is on the way. ConcernedApe said in his latest tweet “PC players, I hope you’re enjoying the 1.4 update so far! Just want to let you know that there is a patch in the works right now that will fix a lot of the lingering bugs that are in the update. It should be ready within the next couple of days but I’ll let you know.”

    Fixing the the basic Axe!

This is a pleasant surprise to hear that some of the concerns such as the basic axe taking too many hits to break rocks in the mine levels between 10 and 30 will get addressed this soon!. There is also an increased rate of monster spawn that Eric will fix in the upcoming patch.

Stardew Valley 1.4 introduced major new features such as an entirely new end-game mystery, dozens of new clothing items and more. If you want to take a look at the best new additions head over here.

    Stardew Valley Fish Pond
Stardew Valley Fish Ponds Coming with the 1.4 Update

You are not required to start a new farm to enjoy the many new features and improvements the update will bring but I will start a new game and prepare my farm to be ready when the update hits! I will be sure to have some gold on my account, and be ready to enjoy Stardew Valley again with a fresh breeze, Will you start a new farm? Or continue a ongoing save game?

What’s New in Stardew Valley 1.4?

In his latest blog Eric gave an example of how the game will be improved “One small example is the Wild Bait…which used to be essentially worthless… but now gives you a chance to catch double fish.” Smaller enhancements like this can have a huge impact on the overall game experience and I can’t wait to play and start over in Stardew Valley once again when the update hits!

Eric also said “There is more end-game stuff like that to keep things going a little further after you’ve completed everything. ” which is great for players who have been enjoying the game for several years and completed most or even everything the game has to offer. Exciting to see what this will entail!
