    Garden and Customize Rooms

In Garden In, players will get to garden to their heart’s content. The objective of the game is to just grow a variety unique and beautiful plants. Pick from a variety of different pots, throw some soil in it, and plant a seed. Each plant will require different things in order to grow, like clay or rocky soil, but each one wants your time, love, and some care in order to grow and flourish.

You can also create hybrid plants. Take a larger hybridization pot, put in two compatible seeds, and see what you get! Try to discover all the different hybrid plants to fill out your herbarium. Plus, you’ll get to customize your plant rooms to fit your personal aesthetic and mood. You have control of the colors of the room, and the backgrounds can be changed, too. Arrange your plants, change the color palette, and set whatever mood you want for each room.

With no timelines and no quests or goals to complete, Garden In! is the perfect game for the casual gamer. It’s also a good game for the creatives looking to just relax.

    Coming Soon!

Garden In! Will be available on Steam in about two weeks, on January 26th! You can add it to your wishlist to receive an email when it releases.

For more gardening fun, check out Garden Paws, A Garden Witch’s Life, or Strange Horticulture.

Japanese Rural Life is an adorable life and farm simulation game where you get to experience the country side of Japan.

For anyone who missed the announcement of this game, Japan has become the status symbol for everything cute and adorable ( at least in the Animal Crossing World ) and this title made by a small indie development team known for Food Truck Pup is now making a life simulation game about Japanese Rural Life!

The game has been in development for some time and has seen multiple delays simply because the developer wants to make sure that Japanese Rural Life is as fun and complete as it can possibly be.

    Farm, Fish and Pets

    japanese rural life

Japanese Rural Life let’s you experience what it’s like to live in the country side of Japan. Your small cottage is placed right in the middle of nature and open for you to customize however you like.

You can spend your days in nature by fishing, growing a beautiful garden, exploring and so much more. Of course there are plenty of villagers to meet that just like you, want to experience the same beautiful lifestyle.

You will also be able to adopt and care for a little doggy and the best thing? It follows you around as you explore the country side making it a true life companion.

But in order to have your pup follow you everywhere you go, you will have to share some love with your furry friend by feeding treats and of course giving the doggy a good petting every now and then! Take a peak at the clip below!

    Japanese Rural Life Release Date

Japanese Rural Life is currently still in development, the developer had announced a release date for last summer, unforutentaly that’s also when the game was delayed as it needed a little bit more time.

While a delay is always disappointing it will be great to have a very polished game once it does release. I have reached out to the developer about a possible Nintendo Switch release and more details about the release window. The following answer was shared with me! You can check out the full interview I had with the developer here.

    Release Date update

The developer finally announced a release window for Japanese Rural Life, the indie game is expected to be available sometime during this year, 2023. Follow him on Twitter and share your excitement for the game with him!

Will the game be available on iOS and Android? Are you considering a Nintendo Switch release?

    Yes.
First of all, I will release it on iOS and Android.
If I can find a publisher who can make the most of it, I’d like to release it for the Nintendo Switch and PC as well.

Brew Potions, Manage a Shop, Negotiate Prices, Find Love

Since we last heard about Potionomics, an alchemy-crafting, potion-selling sim, a lot has changed. Developes at Voracious Games now have publisher XSEED/Marvelous backing them up! Now, there’s also deck-building and romancing elements in the mix, in case the game wasn’t perfect enough. Not to mention you practically have Archimedes (the owl, not the inventor) by your side.

You play as witch Sylvia who’s inherited her uncle’s potion shop, along with a huge debt. Players must hone their negotiation skills, outsell crafty competitors, and appease the pickiest customers with the best products in Rafta. Decorating your shop is not only stylish, but can help you to increase your sale prices and provide better quality potions! Gathering ingredients and learning new recipes will also be essential.

Furthermore, certain merchants and shopkeepers will be yours to romance, as recently revealed. Characters such as Muktuk the walrus, Saffron the faun, Luna the moth-human hybrid, and 7 others! You can check out the latest trailer below.

    Potionomics available now

Potionomics is now available on Steam and has gathered mainly positive reviews. You can get this adorable and magical narrative-driven, deck-building shop simulator on Steam here. There’s no news as of yet if Potionomics will be coming to consoles, although chances are great with XSEED as the publisher.

Unpacking lets you unfold your inner zen now also available on Nintendo Switch.

Every morning after my routine cleanup of my office here at myPotatoGames, I look forward to playing a video game, or two… three. To continue my morning trend, I couldn’t think of a better game than Unpacking stress and getting immersed in a virtual world where one can continue their routine by neatly and effortlessly storing away items. Unpacking is a game that lets you do exactly that!

Unpacking may seem like an odd concept at first glance, storing away items and essentially cleaning things up might satisfy your OCD but does it make for a satisfying and fun game experience?

The game captures a feeling that most people have experienced in one way or another. When you move to a new location, you will essentially start on a fresh slate, a clean space to store your things neatly, perfectly – just like a store shelf.

Unpacking starts at the point where you open your moving boxes with all your gems and goodies inside of it. You will be tasked with the compulsive need to store away everything you have brought with you. Calmly and as slowly as you’d like. That feeling of a fresh start, clean and so neat is what Unpacking tries to capture.

The sounds and satisfying snap ins make playing this game just as relaxing as can be.

    Unpacking Release Date

Unpacking is now available on Steam for PC and on the Nintendo Switch eShop, allowing you to curl up in your bed or on your favorite couch with a blanket to enjoy this meditative game.

Witchbrook has been in development for some time now. The game created by Chucklefish, the previous publisher of Stardew Valley, revealed some amazing new details about the upcoming Magic game in an early design document.

In Witchbrook the player will take on the role of a student inside a magic school, something a Harry Potter fan might be familiar with. During the course of the studies, players will be on a path to discovering who they really are.

The game will take the player on a journey through various activities that all help you work towards a successful school life. Withcbrook offers a lot of side activities next to the very busy study schedule that players will have to master.

    Witchbrook Looks Stunning

Chucklefish surprised fans with some brand new screenshots showing of the games colorful, whimsical world. Take a look at the new screenshots released below!

    Witchbrook magic school game

Gardening, Potion Making and Artifact Hunting!

Side quests such as social actives and school work are just the beginning of the many features you can look forward to. You will be able to plant your very own herb garden, go on a fishing trip and just so much more. Witchbrook is designed to deliver a relaxing and calmly paced experience much like Stardew Valley where you can decide how to play the game.

Besides growing your own herb garden, you will also be able to go artifact hunting. These items are scattered throughout the world, inviting the players to go exploring! Once you come across an artifact you will have to solve a puzzle to obtain the item!

Fishing in Witchbrook using target mode

Potion making is obviously part of the game, every wizard needs a cauldron expelling green mysterious steam. Once you acquire potion recipes you will be able to brew a potion. But don’t you worry, there will also be traditional cooking where you can throw together a delicious meal inside the local cafe!

Some activities like fishing also allow the player to enter “Targeting mode” where you can choose from a list of different actions like spells, items and tools. This mode is great to create a rich and meaningful experience, rather than just point and click at something.

Withcbrook doesn’t stop here, exciting features like wizard dueling, crafting, astrology and even mail stamp collecting enrich the gameplay even further.

    Witchbrook magic school game

    Seasonal Events

The game is also accompanied by weather and a day and night cycle. While this is always a pleasant element to have, as it creates a more immersive experience, it also adds seasons and therefore seasonal events. Christmas and Halloween were named as a few possible examples. Magic school and Halloween events just seem like a perfect match to us!

That’s right, players will be able to enjoy 4 seasons, each lasting one month or 30 days according to the in-game calendar. If you played any Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons games you will know how much each season can change the gameplay entirely. During each event players can also look forward to obtaining new items to redecorate part of the school grounds or simply make new friends at the gathering.

    Broom Racing and other Minigames

Minigames are also going to be a big part of Witchbrook. According to the game design document “Minigames are scattered throughout the gameworld. Some minigames only show up during events.” Chucklefish also named some examples that could potentially become part of the game. Broom racing, casino games, wizard chess, card games and more.

What would a magic school game be without… magic? Players can learn spells which can help you perform better in side activities such as fishing, foraging or even farming! Alakazam!

    Witchbrook

Everything you love in games is here!

Besides all the fun new features Witchbrook has to offer, there will of course be elements you come to expect from such game. NPCs with unique personalities are populating the breathing and living world. Make friends around school, help other people around you by obtaining quests from them and more. Get to know the people who share a world with you, customize and play the game you enjoy it the most.

    Witchbrook magic school game

Witchbrook is one of the titles I look forward to playing a lot! With its adorable art style and plenty of content, I can only imagine the amount of hours I am going to pour into this promising title. However, do keep in mind that game designs can change drastically throughout the development cycle. While all these features sounds exciting it is possible that they will change or be left out entirely. Regardless, Witchbrook is shaping up to be a fans new favorite game!

    Witchbrook Multiplayer and Cross platform

Some details in regards to multiplayer options for the magic game have also been shared, you can find out more about it right here.

    Witchbrook Release Date

Witchbrook does not have a release date – but is expected for a release sometime in the near future, Chucklefish is very quiet about the actual release window. Given the publishers history I would not be surprised to see Witchbrook appear on Nintendo Switch as well as on Steam!

In a recently released FAQ Chuckelfish stated that it is a “no crunch” game development studio which essentially means developers are given enough time to bring their vision to life. However this also means that games take a little longer to comeplete.

Animal Crossing New Horizons was also delayed by nearly a year which resulted in one of the most refined games Nintendo has released in recent years.

Make also sure you keep an eye on another magic focused game called Little Witch in the Woods a super adorable indie game featuring kitty clouds and wizards!

An Equally Quirky Sports RPG Sequel to Golf Story

Remember Sports Story, the unconventional sports RPG game by Sidebar Games and sequel to the off-the-wall Golf Story? It was announced 3 years ago, and was originally slated for a mid-2020 release. Sidebar Games announced in August 2020, that the game would unfortunately be delayed. Sports Story had grown into a highly ambitious project, and they wanted to ensure every element made it into the game.

In Sports Story, you play as the same main character introduced in the first game. He had given up golf as a kid, but wants to get back into the swing of things. The story in the sequel is a direct continuation of the story from Golf Story. You’ll still be able to embark on a golf adventure in varied locales both ordinary and fantastical. However, the game includes far more activities than just golf.

You’ll enter a renowned tennis academy to become a tennis pro, but you’ll also get to do things like mini-golf, BMX, cricket, volleyball, and even fishing. Make friends, and even enemies, in your quest to become a sports great. Explore dungeons, commit espionage, play mini-games, find buried treasure, and even meet the queen! Don’t forget to compete in the Decasportathon to make Coach proud.

And of course, there’s no lack of the signature quirkiness that made Golf Story so great.

    Now Available!

Sidebar Games announced on December 23rd that Sports Story is now available! You can pick up the highly anticipated game on Nintendo Switch!

In case you’re unfamiliar with Golf Story, be sure to check it out. It’s a fun, silly game.
