Wattam is a puzzle adventure game developed by Funomena, published by Annapurna Interactive, and imagined by the beautiful and weird mind of Keita Takahashi (creator of Katamari Damacy). In this game you are the Mayor and you can make friends and have fun in single-player or in local co-op. I’ve been looking forward to holding hands with creatures that resemble toilets and poop, food and utensils, for a while now. They’re my brothers-in-arms, if you will, since I’m also a potato with a face. As of today, December 17th, 2019, we can do just that as Wattam is finally out on the PS4 and Epic Games Store for only $19.99 US!

What’s even more amazing is that iam8bit, a production company, is officially selling physical copies of Wattam for the PS4 with 3 alternative covers! You can pre-order your copy here for $29.99 which will ship in Q2 2020, if you’ve decided on which cover you’re going to get, Sushi, Apple, or Sun. Here’s the details of the listing:

    Wattam (PlayStation 4 Physical Edition)

    • Collect All Three Covers – Apple + Sushi + Sun
    • Pack-In Bonus: Original Instruction Manual written & illustrated by creator Keita Takahashi
    • Reversible Cover!
    • Music by Asuka, Brad, Sam and Timmie
    • Region Free Worldwide Compatibility

As a special bonus, a handful of randomly selected orders will receive a one-of-a-kind, original drawing by Keita Takahashi. These drawings will remain a surprise until orders ship.

You can also purchase a vinyl soundtrack and lanyard from the same website here. This is too wholesome to miss out on!

Melbits World is a cooperative puzzle platformer by Melbot and released for the PS4 as a PlayLink title back in February 2019. Thanks to the developers, I was lucky enough to test Melbits World Pocket the mobile version of the game. This was without the multiplayer feature and not to be confused with the mobile companion app for the PS4 game. I really enjoyed customizing my adorable virtual pixies with accessories and leading them to the end of several challenging levels.

Therefore, when Melbot recently announced that Melbits World is out now on PC (as of December 16th, 2019) and coming to the Nintendo Switch on December 19th, 2019, I got really excited to delve back into this charming world. A world all about “spreading the good vibes across the Internet.” Now due to the collaboration with publisher Plug in Digital, you can get the Melbits World on Steam (controller support only) for a 34% discount until December 23rd, 2019, and the Nintendo Switch version for only $12.59!

In Melbits World there are 4 worlds, each one with 9 levels where you can dodge evil viruses, collect seeds, rotate platforms, and utilize springs. It’s a family-friendly game you can play with up to 4 players and collaborate and communicate with each other! To find out more about Melbot’s upcoming projects, check out my article on the Melbits POD; a toy for mobile devices.

Speaking of the zaniness and weirdness of most Anime from my last article, Boyfriend Dungeon, I was intrigued by another game announced during Nintendo’s live-stream of Indie World Showcase. Investigate crime scenes with numbers and puzzles, and interrogate a range of colorful characters in this sassy murder mystery; Murder by Numbers! Developed by Mediatonic (Fall Guys) and published by Irregular Corporation (Paleo Pines), Murder by Numbers will be releasing in early 2020 on the Nintendo Switch and Steam (Wishlist here).

Los Angeles, 1996. Honor Mizrahi was just an actress on a hit TV detective show. But when her boss ends up dead just minutes after he fires her, she finds herself starring in her own murder mystery. Teaming up with SCOUT, a reconnaissance robot (one that’s darn cute) thrown away after a mysterious incident, she sets out to clear her name – and a new detective duo is born! The soundtrack is even composed by Masakazu Sugimori (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick and Viewtiful Joe).

Spirit of the North is a 3D adventure game about discovery and companionship. The developers, Infuse Studio, mention how they were inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, and Nordic folklore. Solve various puzzles and examine the ruins of an ancient civilization. You can buy it here on PSN for $24.99 and enjoy running freely on snow-covered mountaintops this holiday season!

    About Spirit of the North

Play as an ordinary red fox whose story becomes entwined with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a female spirit fox. As you journey over the mountains and under red-stained skies you’ll discover more about your companion and a land left in ruin.

You can follow the developers on their Twitter page here for more information. For a similar breathtaking experience and story-rich game, check out my review here: Lost Ember: A Beautifully Heartbreaking Exploration of Forgiveness.

Marblelous Animals is a small but cute puzzle game that releases for the Switch in just 2 days.

I absolutely love to just relax and play puzzle games whenever I have some spare time. Something I can pick up, challenge myself for a few minutes, and continue about my dailies.

It should be a game that doesn’t cost too much, and doesn’t demand too much of my time. This is a pretty apt description of Marblelous Animals, a new puzzle game releasing on the Nintendo Switch on November 22nd.

The game features cute round animals that you must maneuver though different levels that steadily increase in difficulty.

    Marblelous Animals

Marblelous Animals features some cute and simple graphics that certainly don’t distract from the basic level designs. The simplicity of the levels really helps with the fact that the game is played with motion controls.

With a price tag of only $4.99, Marblelous Animals is one puzzler that is certainly going into my Switch library. If you would like more information about the game, as well as the chance to secure a copy for yourself, just visit the official Nintendo website. Donut County, devoloped by Ben Esposito and published by Annapurna Interactive (What Remains of Edith Finch), released on SteamPS4GOG, the App Store, and the Mac App Store in 2018. Thanks to the awesome Steam’s Halloween Sale, I was able to play this hilarious physics-based puzzle game. It is indeed reverse-Katamari from the gameplay mechanics and premise, to the colorful and whimsical world of strange characters. In Donut County, you control a hole and put everything and anything in it! My only complaint is that I wish the game was longer because I enjoyed it so much. You can check out my full gameplay of 2 hours below!

The idea of starting with consuming smaller objects so that you can grow-in-size and move on to larger ones, had me sold. But the game goes even further by adding a fully-formed and ridiculous plot about raccoons building a bigger trash empire through use of their technology. Apparently that includes this remote-controlled hole that brings what it swallows 999 feet underground. So don’t worry, no animals were harmed during your enjoyment of total destruction.

To shake things up a little, certain levels require a tad more strategy like with hard-to-reach objects. For example, you can upgrade the hole to have a launcher to shoot things upward, such as a frog to catch the flies. You can’t die and you can’t really mess up so you can just keep trying different things until they work! Eventually our friend the raccoon, BK, gets stuck down under with the entire town and helps to come up with a plan to send everyone back.

This 3D cooperative (1-4 players) physics-based puzzler is about using your adorably tiny hands to connect with your friends and create new shapes. When playing it in single-player mode, you can swap between pieces. Grabimals, developed by SAD & SON, will be releasing sometime in 2020 for PC and Nintendo Switch.

As you can see from the images below, there are 6 different puzzle types you may encounter while playing. There’s the Gap where you’ll need to become a bridge, the Build where you form an object like a chair, the Ride where the example is trying to stay on a mechanical bull, the Shadow where you’ll be recreating shapes via your shadows, the Catch where you grab and hold objects, and Play which looks like a fun Jenga party!

    About Grabimals

Grabimals merges the concept of building and playing into a brand new experience where players control a party of unique creatures and connect them together to solve a wide variety of puzzles.
