Up until now, Concrete Genie, an upcoming game by PixelOpus, has only been listed for ‘Fall 2019’. The game was first introduced at Paris Games Week in 2017 for a release sometime in 2018. It had to be delayed to the latter half of 2019 to make it into the work of art you see before you now. The wait appears to be nearly over, according to a tweet by PlayStation. The game has received a release date of October 8th.

To tide us over, PlayStation has also put 3 beautiful wallpapers up, free for grabs, on their own site. They’re sized for use on desktop, tablet, and phone.

You’ll see these wallpapers come to life by your own hand in Concrete Genie in only two months! Help Ash bring life back to his dark, poisoned town with each stroke of his paintbrush, and help him take care of some toxic bullies at the same time when the game releases on PS4 on October 8th. We can’t wait!

You can check out the most adorable and super creative gameplay trailer for the game right here.

It’s been 5 years since we’ve had any entries into the Super Monkey Ball series, and 7 since we’ve had any on a console. Fans of the series won’t have to wait much longer to catch up with Aiai and the gang, though. SEGA has officially announced an HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz!

The HD remaster has a release date of October 29, 2019. Needless to say, October just keeps looking better and better for the MyPotatoGames fam!

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz was originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2006. It introduced a new villain, Captain Crabuchin, and had a total of 8 boss battles.

So far, we know that Banana Blitz HD will have 100 main levels and 10 multiplayer minigames. New graphics are, obviously, included and controls will be optimized for each platform. Also, for the first time ever in the series, there will be online leaderboards.

The best news is that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will be released on all current major consoles. That means you’ll be able to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam! Although pages aren’t yet up for all the consoles, you can already pre-order on Amazon.

    Watch the announcement trailer:

Super Monkey Ball is far from the only nostalgic series getting a remake. Check out our pieces on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town remakes!

Scratch is back and nuttier then ever in Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure for PC and console.

There have been many different games made that revolve around or include characters from the Ice Age movie series, one of the more popular being Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. In this new installment, we will get to play as Scrat, that lovable little prehistoric squirrel thing with an addiction to nuts. His erratic behavior made him a fan favorite in the series, so it is fitting that he is the main character in this soon to be released game.

    About Scrat’s Nutty Adventure

Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure is a 3D action adventure game that takes place in a prehistoric environment, obviously. The primary focus is avoiding all obstacles that one might encounter in said environment, such as blasting geysers and flowing lava. You do this all in an effort to find four special Crystal Nuts, and uncover the secrets of the Scratazon Temple. And no matter the baddies that he encounters, Scrat’s worst enemy will always be his horrible luck, which certainly comes into play in this whimsical Disney title.

For more details on Ice Age: Scrat’s Nutty Adventure, hop on over to Outright Games official website by clicking here. For more Disney and/or Pixar fun, be sure to check out our coverage of the new Toy Story DLC for Minecraft. Scrat’s Nutty Adventure releases in October this year, and will be available for Nintendo Switch, PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

PlayStation live-streamed their second State of Play on May 9th, 2019. They announced a few release dates and showed trailers for the list of games you’ll see below. Specifically, we at myPotatoGames wanted to highlight the following two games from the presentation for their adorableness and indie charm: Riverbond and Away. However, you can watch the video in this article for the full 10 minutes of PlayStation’s State of Play.

    • Monster Hunter World: Iceborne releasing September 6th, 2019
    • Riverbond coming this summer 2019
    • Predator: Hunting Grounds due sometime in 2020
    • Medievil remake releasing on October 25th, 2019
    • Away: Survival Series coming soon
    • FFVII remake – more to be shown in June 2019
    • Limited edition Days of Play PS4 console – event starts in June 2019

    Riverbond

Riverbond, a charming voxel hack-and-slash dungeon-crawler developed by
Cococucumber (Canadian indie studio). You’ll be able to play cooperatively and locally with friends and complete missions, find treasure, and defeat monsters and bosses. Riverbond will be coming as early as this summer to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The creators have also confirmed that a Switch version will release sometime after launch. You can wishlist the game on Steam here or visit their official website here.

Riverbond has eight crossover skins from select indie games that the creators love and that we at myPotatoGames happen to love too. Find these guest skins hidden in treasure chests and use these characters on your journey! This wonderful homage includes the characters below.

In order: Raz (Psychonauts), Juan (Guacamelee!), Lover Mu (Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime), Robot 05 (Planet of the Eyes), The Kid (Bastion), Demelza (Knights and Bikes), Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight), and Bullet Kin (Enter the Gungeon).

The art style is reminiscent of Minecraft and Staxel with its tiny cubes! Riverbond “will let you go on an adventure, cut some grass, wreak havoc to [our] beautifully handcrafted maps, and maybe find a secret or two along the way”. Find out more on the PlayStation Blog by Vanessa Chia here.

    Away: The Survival Series

Play as a sugar glider, and step inside a wildlife documentary and experience nature from an entirely new perspective. In the distant future, natural disasters threaten the survival of every species on the planet. Venture deep into the wilderness in search of safe sanctuary and steer clear of fires or storms. Furthermore, you must jump, climb, and glide through a wide variety of landscapes such as forests, caverns, and canyons to avoid predators. Away: The Survival Series is developed by Breaking Walls; an indie game studio founded by industry veterans in Montreal, and will be coming soon on PS4 and Steam (wishlist here).

In addition to the beautiful environments, the soundtrack will immerse you even more in the nature as it says in PlayStation’s blog,

“Having worked on the soundtrack for nature documentaries such as Life and Planet Earth II, we partnered with award-winning composer and audio director Mike Raznick to compose Away’s orchestral score. Both epic and atmospheric, the game’s enchanting soundtrack punctuates every step of your journey and makes for a truly captivating gameplay experience.”

    Lauren Bernier
    Creative Director, Breaking Walls

Furthermore, if you missed the last State of Play, you can watch the video in our article here. Namely, highlighting the game ReadySet Heroes, a unique dungeon-crawler.

Initially released on Steam back in 2016, Stardew Valley is a Harvest Moon-reminiscent RPG farming simulation with pixel graphics. Developed by ConcernedApe and published by Chucklefish, the game was very well received. It currently holds a 10/10 rating on Steam where it also has ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews.

    Game features include:

    • Raising animals, growing crops and improving your farm
    • Improving skills in 5 different areas (farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging)
    • A variety of complex characters, places, enigmas, and secrets to discover
    • Diversity in character customization and dating
    • Over two hours of original music.

Stardew Valley has obtained a 10/10 rating on Steam, received numerous ports for a variety of platforms, and is still a chart topper on the Nintendo Switch eShop. It’s, therefore, safe to say that the game is highly regarded and popular.

The highly anticipated multiplayer update for the PC version of the game was released on 1st August 2018.

    Multiplayer update features include:

    • The ability to play with up to 3 others in online co-op
    • A 3-day travelling festival where farmers can come and go as they please
    • A mysterious new winter event that enables farmers to start a new ‘secret’ collection type
    • Farmers who have made great progress will be given the opportunity to help out a townsperson
    • New character events
    • Changes to the Skull Cavern
    • Ability to change your profession
    • Ability to craft signs
    • New outdoor decorations
    • Introduction of the auto-grabber, an expensive item that automatically harvests milk and wool
    • Introduction of garden pots. Garden pots allow you to grow any crop inside year-round
    • A new crop that only grows indoors
    • Fireplaces and new furniture
    • Ability to put a hat on your horse

The solo developer of Stardew Valley (ConcernedApe) has previously announced that the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will also get a multiplayer update eventually. The developer has confirmed in tweets and updates that the co-op will not be cross-platform. As disappointing as this is for fans to hear, the decision is understandable.

Whilst an exact date hasn’t been given, the game’s publisher (Chucklefish) has recently confirmed that Stardew Valley for Switch will be next to receive the Multiplayer update. Having been submitted for final approval, it is expected that the update will be available either by the end of the year or in early 2019.
