Nintendo finally released the Animal Crossing: New Horizons fact sheet, confirming the much rumored local multiplayer split-screen capability. As we reported a few days ago, you will be able to provide a home to 8 players on your personal island and play with up to 4 players simultaneously using a single system.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was finally revealed at this year’s E3, with a small caveat of the delay to March 20th, 2020. However, even though the game has been delayed, Nintendo has shared plenty of gameplay footage, details, and more about the upcoming village simulator.

Today the big N shared the New Horizons fact sheet with us, in which the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Multiplayer Mode has been confirmed to allow for split-screen co-op. According to the sheet “Up to eight players can reside in an island; four residents of the same island can play together simultaneously on a single system.”

In New Horizons players will be able to provide a home to friends for the very first time. While it was possible do so in New Leaf, it was restricted to only one player at any given time. There will of course also be online multiplayer where players from all around the world can meet and play together – given that you have a running Nintendo Online Subscription.

Th fact sheet also highlights the all new crafting system. In New Horizons, players will be able to gather resources to craft items. For example, collecting different kinds of woods can be used to create various furniture to decorate either your home, gift it to friends or animals, or even decorate the surroundings on your island.

News come in waves for the recently revealed Animal Crossing New Horizons. During an interview with no other than game director Aya Kyogoku and producer Higashi Nogami, some nifty new details about the beloved K.K Slider have been revealed amongst other new tidbits.

In the interview with GameKult Aya confirmed that Amiibos will indeed be compatible with the upcoming game, but she did not share any details how Amiibos will play a role in New Horizons. However, she did say that cards as well as figures will both be a working addition.

Many fans have also been wondering if K.K Slider will make a return. New Leaf players can enjoy his concerts at Club LOL. Higashi mentioned that the cool, but also adorable dog, will hold concerts every Saturday! Yay! The latest trailer already presented us with some new music, it will be great to see what new songs K.K Slider will come up with!

Aya was also asked about the new multiplayer modes in the game. We have recently covered the new addition to Animal Crossing New Horizons where players will be able to actually provide a home to friends in their own town. Today we learned there will also be split screen couch coop where up to 4 players can play on one console, with only one game in either Docked ( TV ) or handheld mode.

Last but not least, Kyogoku talked a little bit about the unfortunate but needed delay for the game. She explained how important the first year is for any Animal Crossing game. There has been so much news about Animal Crossing New Horizons. Tons of gameplay, details and an aweeeeh-mazing trailer has stunned fans of the series once again. During a recent interview with no other than Aya Kyogoku, game designer of games like Animal Crossing New Leaf and New Horizons, it was revealed that players for the first time in the series will be able to invite real friends to live inside the same town.

Unlike previous games in the the popular village simulator, players can finally share their town with someone else. In AC:NL it was possible to open the train station gate and invite players over to your town for a limited time. Players who joined your town would be able to help with a few tasks like plugging weeds, go fishing with you and even take a ride with Kapp’n to the nearby island.

Animal Crossing New Horizons takes the multiplayer capabilities in the game to next level. Players will not only be able to hang out with friends, but can also offer them an entire house to themselves. This means you will be able to invite other real life players to have a place on your island, or you could rent a home at your friends island as well! This will allow for a much more meaningful multiplayer experience, in which other players can decorate their own home, and follow their own tasks while spending time on a common island.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the next mainline game in the beloved franchise. During a recent interview with IGN, New Horizon’s director Aya Kyogoku and producer Hisashi Nogami revealed some new details on how Tom Nooks role changed a little bit in the upcoming game.

While in previous games the money hungry raccoon was only after our bells, this time around he apparently re-invests the money right back into the community. In new Horizons Nook offers a getaway package for 49,800 Bells that gets you to a deterred island and lets you place a tent wherever you want.

However, Tom Nook doesn’t charge that much to further fill his pockets as Aya says, he works “tirelessly” around the clock to ensure residents are enjoying their island life experience.

[su_quote style=”default” cite=”” url=”” class=””]”He has this place called Resident Services. He tirelessly works 24 hours making sure that all the residents on the island are happy and are living a good life…Whenever Tom receives those debts paid back from the residents and the players, I think that because these resident services upgrade as time goes on, I think he’s investing that money toward the Resident Service for the residents.”[/su_quote]

But rest assured, even though you are only getting a tent in the beginning, much like other games in the series, in Animal Crossing New Horizons you will be upgrading your tent to a proper home in no time. You will also be able to decorate your house and outside surroundings for the first time in any mainline Animal Crossing game.

The French website Gamekult also held an interview with Higashi Nogami where the cloud save ability of Animal Crossing New Horizons has been discussed, according to Nogami “New Horizons will not be compatible with cloud backups to avoid manipulating time, which remains one of the founding concepts of the series”, a basic Nintendo Online subscription is however required to be able to play online with friends all over the world. This statement further ties in with our previous report of Resetti’s absence and the possible lack of time travel.

Everything is new with Animal Crossing New Horizons including the somewhat sad retirement of the controversial character. Resetti is no longer going to be part of the next mainline Animal Crossing game in favor of an auto save feature.

Resetti has been in most Animal Crossing games, but his attitude has been smoothened out by Nintendo in every new game of the popular village simulator. Resetti is the one animals that will yell at you for resetting your console to time travel, or simply to not save your game for multiple reasons.

    Goodbye Resetti!

Reports of earlier Animal Crossing games showed that kids were actually scared of Resetti, which was one of the reasons Nintendo has made him, well nicer and less intrusive. One of the reasons we dug deep to find 12 weird things in Animal Crossing that no-one really questions.

As players will have to travel without Resetti to the deserted island, an auto save feature has been added to the game. This means that at no point the player will have to actually manually save the game. This leaves fans to believe that time travel will no longer be an option in the upcoming game as rumors have been circulating that the last save game will automatically be loaded.

    No more Time Travel?

Nintendo has been promoting players to play alongside seasons instead of time traveling. Online features may require player to stop time traveling, as in New Horizons you can now live with other online players on the same island. We will have to wait for Nintendo to deliver some more official details on this situation in the coming months.
