There could honestly just never be enough farming sims in the world. What better way to find piece of mind than by digitally cultivating your own little garden or farm. And with so many different unique ways to spin the genre, it comes as no surprise that we are always seeing new and exciting features being brought in. Monster Harvest brings the farming style of Stardew Valley, but adds the creature collection and battle system of the old school Pokemon games.
In Monster Harvest, you find yourself on Planimal Point, a land named after the creatures that reside within. The land is inhabited by creatures that are a hybrid of plants and animals, thus the name “Planimal”. You will be tasked with growing you own farm to help sustain yourself and your companions.
Throughout the game, you will encounter some ominous blobs that seem to have ability to turn your crops into creatures. You will then befriend these creatures and train them in the art of battle. They will be your friends, but they will also help you defeat the many creatures that may try to hinder your growth as a farmer.
Monster Harvest is now available on Nintendo Switch and costs just $19.99.

For those that may have missed this adorable farming and life sim game with some pretty sweet RPG elements, Sun Haven is all about becoming part of the world you live in. You find yourself in a beautiful little town that captures the spirit of old school fantasy RPGs such as Final Fantasy, or even Pokemon back on the gameboy. But in addition to be able to call this magical town your home, you also tend to your farm and grow your favorite crops.
After the recent release, Sun Haven already has many positive reviews on Steam, and players are absolutely loving this charming new indie. Indie farming and life simulation games have flooded the gaming market with many adorable titles that provide hundreds of hours of fun. Pixelshire takes a slightly different approach to the farming and life sim genre by taking inspiration from Harvest Moon and introducing some new features as well.
At the heart, Pixelshire offers everything you come to expect from games like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. You find yourself in a little town with a starter tent much like Animal Crossing New Horizons. The town is inhabited by many villagers that all feature unique personalities.
As you find your way around town you can choose to interact with the town folks, you will eventually make friends or… frenemies? If socializing is not a priority on your mind, you may want to spend your day by the lake and cast your fishing rod to hopefully become an expert fisherman.
Resourcing is also a big part of the game, mine, cut trees and plant crops to grow your favorite vegetables and fruits – then turn in your harvest for a juicy profit. In addition you can also care for various animals and raise livestock right on your very own farm.
One of the features that differentiate Pixelshire from old school Harvest Moon games is the ability to actually change the landscape of your town. If you don’t like the view of the hill next to your home, you can simply get rid of it, looking to add a little river – you are free to do so! If you have played New Horizons you will know the value and excitement terraforming tools have to offer.
Pixelshire is an indie game currently in development by Kappa Bits who you should follow on Twitter to leave more about the development of the game – make sure to let her know how excited you are to see Pixelshire… hopefully also on Switch one day!
