Become a Legend and Rebuild a Sacred Book

The Zelda-like isometric action RPG, Tunic, released on PC (Steam, Epic Games, and more) and Xbox (including Game Pass) in March 2022. Now, during PlayStation’s State of Play on June 2nd, 2022, we know that it will be releasing for PS4 and PS5 this fall!

In Tunic you get to explore a land filled with lost legends and ancient powers, confront colossal beasts, collect incredible treasure and missing manual pages of a scared book, and solve intricate puzzles. The adorable part? You get to do it as a tiny yet brave fox hero.

Coming to PS4 and PS5 this Fall

Tunic is created by Andrew Shouldice and publisher Finji (Night in the Woods, Chicory: A Colorful Tale) and will be coming to PS4 and PS5 on September 27th, 2022. Watch the new reveal trailer below!

PlayStation’s State of Play just finished live-streaming today (December 10th, 2019) and if you missed it, you can check out the 20 minutes video below. Some exciting release dates were given, announcements of games coming to the PS4 were made, and one interesting new VR game has caught my attention.

    Release Dates

State of Play kicks off with Untitled Goose Game. It has already been released on the Epic Games Store and I’ve had a chance to play it on the Nintendo Switch and really enjoy it. Now this hilarious stealth game is coming to the PS4 on December 17th, 2019! The more platforms the better!

    Dreams is finally releasing!

Another one of my favorite surprises was that of a release date for Dreams. Dreams, by Media Molecule, allows you to basically create your own game for yourself and others to enjoy, and has been in Early Access for quite some time now. However, look forward to exploring worlds of limitless imagination on February 14th, 2020.

A couple of other wholesome game mentions where that of Superliminal, a puzzle game inspired by forced perspective, which is not only available now on the Epics Game Store, but will be available on the PS4 sometime in 2020. We also have a date for Kingdom Hearts III’s DLC, Re-Mind, which is January 20th, 2020. This new DLC will feature new playable characters like Kairi! You can play a free demo of Kingdom Hearts III if you haven’t played it already, with more information on that here.

    Paper Beasts

Paper Beast is a VR adventure game coming soon in Q1 2020. We got to see some footage where you can immerse yourself in a simulated living world. You can interact with the environment and what appears to be origami-like creatures! To learn more about Paper Beats, go here.

Finally, we were told to expect some more gameplay videos and reveals during The Game Awards happening this Thursday, December 12th, 2019! I’ll definitely be there to catch the epic live-stream!

The next stream of State of Play from Playstation is due to occur on December 10th!

For those that are unaware, State of Play is basically the Nintendo Direct of PlayStation. It is a live stream that usually displays what is coming in the near future for PlayStation. In the last State of Play, we got a look at some pretty interesting games, like Humanity and The Last Of Us Part 2. It has been mentioned that there will likely be no coverage of the next generation system for PlayStation, the Playstation 5.

State of Play is available to view through multiple streaming services, like Twitch, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. So for all you PlayStation owners out there, stayed tuned for some sweet news on what’s just around the corner.

The show will last around 20 minutes, and will begin at 6 a.m. PT. Sid Shuman, Senior Director of SIE Content Communications, mentioned in the recent PlayStation blog post that this State of Play will include “new game reveals, release date announcements, new gameplay footage, PlayStation Worldwide Studios updates, and more”.

The Most Previous State Of Play

If information on the Playstation 5 is what you were after, you can check out my coverage of this next generation console.

PlayStation live-streamed their second State of Play on May 9th, 2019. They announced a few release dates and showed trailers for the list of games you’ll see below. Specifically, we at myPotatoGames wanted to highlight the following two games from the presentation for their adorableness and indie charm: Riverbond and Away. However, you can watch the video in this article for the full 10 minutes of PlayStation’s State of Play.

    • Monster Hunter World: Iceborne releasing September 6th, 2019
    • Riverbond coming this summer 2019
    • Predator: Hunting Grounds due sometime in 2020
    • Medievil remake releasing on October 25th, 2019
    • Away: Survival Series coming soon
    • FFVII remake – more to be shown in June 2019
    • Limited edition Days of Play PS4 console – event starts in June 2019

    Riverbond

Riverbond, a charming voxel hack-and-slash dungeon-crawler developed by
Cococucumber (Canadian indie studio). You’ll be able to play cooperatively and locally with friends and complete missions, find treasure, and defeat monsters and bosses. Riverbond will be coming as early as this summer to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The creators have also confirmed that a Switch version will release sometime after launch. You can wishlist the game on Steam here or visit their official website here.

Riverbond has eight crossover skins from select indie games that the creators love and that we at myPotatoGames happen to love too. Find these guest skins hidden in treasure chests and use these characters on your journey! This wonderful homage includes the characters below.

In order: Raz (Psychonauts), Juan (Guacamelee!), Lover Mu (Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime), Robot 05 (Planet of the Eyes), The Kid (Bastion), Demelza (Knights and Bikes), Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight), and Bullet Kin (Enter the Gungeon).

The art style is reminiscent of Minecraft and Staxel with its tiny cubes! Riverbond “will let you go on an adventure, cut some grass, wreak havoc to [our] beautifully handcrafted maps, and maybe find a secret or two along the way”. Find out more on the PlayStation Blog by Vanessa Chia here.

    Away: The Survival Series

Play as a sugar glider, and step inside a wildlife documentary and experience nature from an entirely new perspective. In the distant future, natural disasters threaten the survival of every species on the planet. Venture deep into the wilderness in search of safe sanctuary and steer clear of fires or storms. Furthermore, you must jump, climb, and glide through a wide variety of landscapes such as forests, caverns, and canyons to avoid predators. Away: The Survival Series is developed by Breaking Walls; an indie game studio founded by industry veterans in Montreal, and will be coming soon on PS4 and Steam (wishlist here).

In addition to the beautiful environments, the soundtrack will immerse you even more in the nature as it says in PlayStation’s blog,

“Having worked on the soundtrack for nature documentaries such as Life and Planet Earth II, we partnered with award-winning composer and audio director Mike Raznick to compose Away’s orchestral score. Both epic and atmospheric, the game’s enchanting soundtrack punctuates every step of your journey and makes for a truly captivating gameplay experience.”

    Lauren Bernier
    Creative Director, Breaking Walls

Furthermore, if you missed the last State of Play, you can watch the video in our article here. Namely, highlighting the game ReadySet Heroes, a unique dungeon-crawler.

Yesterday on March 25th, 2019, Playstation had a 30-minutes presentation of upcoming games. State of Play will now be the first of many short videos with new announcements and gameplay footage, much like the Nintendo Direct is for Nintendo. We at myPotatoGames picked out one game in particular that we thought you might like and that’s ReadySet Heroes coming out for the PS4 this year.

ReadySet Heroes’ gameplay has a unique spin on the typical dungeon-crawling or arena battling type of games. This game is a race through dungeons, while avoiding traps and slaying monsters. You will be competing against another team doing the same thing and trying to finish first. In the dungeons you can also collect loot for better armor, weapons and spells.

You can play with 4 other players either online or locally (split-screen). If you choose to play locally, you can either play on the same team with your friends or you can compete against them!

The cute avatars you get to choose from with customization options.

If you want more information and media on this game, go here, or follow the developers, Robot Entertainment, on their website here. Watch the video in this article for the full Sate of Play presentation by Playstation.
