A recent Animal Crossing: New Horizons summer update trailer has confirmed some features that fans have asked for from the start. Additionally, it also contained some unexpected things to anticipate in the July 3rd update. However, there is also strong evidence from dataminers and characters’ dialogue to suggest even more exciting additions.
Nintendo have already confirmed that New Horizons will receive updates for many more years, meaning that things players would like to see in the game still have a chance to be introduced. So without further ado, here are some rumored and confirmed features heading to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Starting off with the confirmed features to arrive in the July 3rd update is sea swimming and its related activities/items. Here is what you will be able to do upon completing the aforementioned update:
Everytime you access the Nook Stop Terminal, you will be rewarded with Nook Miles simply for checking in for that day. However, the amount of Nook Miles awarded for checking in increases with every consecutive day that you do so. You will receive 50 Nook Miles when you first interact with the terminal. This amount will increase each day, up until day 7 where the amount will be capped to 300 Nook Miles. You will continue to receive 300 Nook Miles from the terminal for every consecutive day you interact with it.
Although you will only be able to access a small part of your island initially, youâd be surprised at the amount of dangerous creatures you may encounter. A lot of DIY recipes in the game require wood. In order to obtain wood, you need to hit trees with an axe. And therefore sooner rather than later you are going to encounter wasps unfortunately. Wasps essentially replace the role of bees in the previous mainline animal crossing games. In previous games, shaking trees ran the risk of disturbing a beehive, which would result in an angry swarm of bees chasing and stinging you unless you could seek shelter in a nearby building. The wasps are just as angry as those bees, and so stocking up on medicine is a very good idea. Medicine can be purchased from Timmy in the Residents Service Tent, or from Nookâs Cranny once you have unlocked it.
Scorpions and tarantulas also roam your island. Thankfully for the arachnophobes amongst us, they only come out at night. If you discover one, my advice is to run for your life, as if they catch sight of you they will chase you and attack. You will then faint and be sent back to your house. They do fetch a pretty penny if you manage to catch one, so if youâre crazy enough to want to do so, hereâs some guidance on how to catch a tarantula or scorpion.
Be sure to get the Pocket Organization Guide as soon as possible in order to maximise the number of slots in your inventory. 20 inventory slots might seem like a lot. However, with the crafting element of the game requiring resources, you will soon find yourself needing more slots. You can expand your upgrade to 30 inventory slots by purchasing the Pocket Organization Guide for 5,000 Nook Miles from the Nook Stop terminal at Resident Services. Later on in the game, you will be able to have 40 inventory slots with an upgrade called ‘Ultimate Pocket Stuffing’. This upgrade will cost you 8,000 Nook Miles.
You may be disappointed to find that you can’t craft all of the tools you want straight away. Tom Nook will give you a recipe for a flimsy fishing rod and flimsy net, which can be crafted at the workbench in the Residents Services tent. The slingshot and watering can recipes can be bought from the nooklings, although you may have to wait a few days as the recipes rotate. In theory, you are only able to get the shovel recipe (and vaulting pole recipe) once Blathers visits the island. Once you craft a shovel, you can hit rocks to get the iron nuggets necessary to craft an axe. But to save time, there’s a bit of a loophole to speed things up. If you purchase a Nook Miles Ticket from the Nook Stop terminal for 2,000 Nook miles, you can head to the airport and visit a randomly selected deserted island. Once there, speak with Wilbur and you will be able to purchase any flimsy tool for 100 miles each. You can bring back these tools, as well as anything you find on that deserted island back home with you.
As well as being able to buy tools from Wilbur, there are other perks to visiting a deserted island. Before unlocking the vaulting pole and ladder, collecting the iron nuggets necessary for DIY recipes can be frustratingly slow-going. Visiting a deserted island gives you the opportunity to hit more rocks with a shovel and obtain resources. In addition to this, deserted islands may have fruit different to your native fruit and plenty of fauna and critters. You may even encounter a character there who you’d like on your island. After chatting with them a couple of times, you will be able to invite them to your own island.
Once you have acquired a decent amount of iron nuggets, it’s a good idea to purchase the ‘Pretty Good Tools Recipes’ item. This can be obtained from the Nook Stop Terminal for 3,000 Nook Miles. The cost may seem a bit steep, but it’s totally worth the investment. As soon as you purchase it, you can craft stronger tools which last a lot longer than their flimsy predecessors.
The flimsy axe and stone axe are craftable relatively early on in the game. Neither of these two axes are strong enough to fell a tree. Therefore you may wish to upgrade to the simply-named âaxeâ if you wish to chop down any trees, or find that your flimsier axes are breaking frequently. The âaxeâ is stronger than its predecessors. Therefore when collecting wood for DIY recipes, be careful not to chop at a tree more than twice, as the third blow will take it down.
A slingshot can be purchased for 900 bells, or crafted with 5 pieces of hardwood. Once you own a slingshot, make sure to look (and listen) out for floating balloons with presents attached. One way of noticing a nearby balloon is listening for the whooshing sound it makes as it floats by. When equipping your slingshot to shoot the floating present down, make sure that it won’t fall into a river or other body of water. However, there is a Nook Mile reward for just that, which is some consolation. The presents shot down usually contain furniture, which can be sold if it isn’t to your taste.
Eating just one piece of fruit will give you more strength. Like the sort of strength that allows you to uproot and relocate entire trees. If you hit a rock after eating a piece of fruit, it will obliterate it completely. This is a useful way of getting more resources from a rock. However, you may want to save the rock-smashing for when you visit other deserted islands in order to preserve your own rocks. Whilst eating too much fruit won’t have an unpleasant effect on your player’s digestive system, your extra strength could wreak havoc on your island if you’re not careful. Thankfully, the effects of the fruit will wear off. You will see the fruit counter in the top left of your screen gradually drop over time. Once enough time has passed, it will disappear completely from your screen.
The drop-off box outside of Nook’s Cranny can be used to sell items when the store is closed. However, there’s a few things that are worth noting. If you do sell items using the drop-off box, you’ll only get 80% of what the Nooklings would pay during opening hours. Additionally, you won’t receive the bells for any items sold until the next day. The funds will be paid into your bank account, which you can access using the Nook Stop Terminal. Turnips cannot be sold using the drop-off box. And finally, you will not be paid double for selling that day’s ‘hot item’ via the drop-off box.
Paradise Elsewhere is a currently-in-development farming sim game that captured our hearts at first glance. The game is so cute, in fact, that we felt compelled to reach out to the developer to find out all that we can about this cutest of farming sims. Keep in mind that this game is still in development, and that all details are subject to change. Paradise Elsewhere does not currently have a set release date.
myPotatoGames headquarters is located on the island of Hawaii (also known as Big Island). Any time we find a game that that shines light on the island life (like Leilani’s Island), we just about go crazy. We never thought we’d find a game like Paradise Elsewhere, that combines island living with our favorite gaming genre, farming sims. Now, the developer of this awesome indie has been kind enough to answer a few questions about the game that we are just dying to know. There are lots of goodies and spoilers to be had by following the developer on Twitter, but we needed to know more!
With inspiration coming from such titles as our go-to favorites like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, Paradise Elsewhere certainly looks to be an excellent installation in this rapidly growing genre. The developer, Chris, also mentioned being influenced by some games from his past, classics like Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Harvest Moon and Secret of Mana.
There will be mining, farming, active weather and even a couple helpful cat-people ready to sell you goodies they’ve found in their travels. In Paradise Elsewhere, you will play as the survivor of boat wreck caused by terrible storm. The game starts out with you being washed ashore a mysterious island, and beginning the struggle for survival. You will get to create and customize your character to your liking, including but not limited to two body types, custom hair style/color and more.
Chris informed us that the game begins in a current day real world, but quickly turns into land of magic and wonder. The ultimate goal will be entirely up to the player. Will you concentrate solely on making a wondrous and self sustaining farm of epic glory, or will you take the time and put in the maximum effort to discover everything that lies in the shadows of this mystical island. One feature that we were especially attracted to was the inclusion/look of the tropical plants that are part of the agricultural options.
When asked what was his favorite unique aspect of the game, Chris responded ” I really want to create an immersive environment, with a feeling of being drawn into a different world filled with living critters and deep overgrown forests and magic too. Hopefully a lot of little secrets to discover”. Paradise Elsewhere is already shaping up to be an excellent addition to our favorites list here at myPotatoGames. Chris also mentioned that the game will be released initially on PC, but that he would like to bring it to console in the future.

Squishy, fluffy and fuzzy guinea pig goodness! If you like tiny rodents getting into shenanigans, or are a fan 2D platformers by awesome indie developers, then we’ve got the perfect title for you. Guinea Pig Parkour is a 2D platform game that takes inspiration from such classic titles as Alladin and Earthworm Jim. However, this title puts a new spin on things by adding its own unique humor, as well as a cool 90’s themed level design.
The hand drawn levels add to the overall humorous tone that is one of the themes of Guinea Pig Parkour. We had a lot of fun with watching the hilariously drawn protagonist slam a drink of coffee and go zooming! The whimsical movements in the game are not restricted to the character, either, as we can see the environment you interact with behaves in much the same manner. The level designs, from what we could see, have a very silly feel, and look almost like they’re straight out of an episode of Rocko’s Modern Life. We can’t wait to see more!
With the super cool graphic design, and what looks to be some classic gameplay styling, we will certainly be keeping an eye on Guinea Pig Parkour. For more up-to-date information on this cute critter title, be sure to follow them on Twitter by clicking here, and don’t forget to check them out on Discord. If you like what you see, and would like to help the game reach its full potential, you can support Guinea Pig Parkour on Patreon by clicking here. If, like myself, you are a late arrival to the Animal Crossing scene, a great and magnificent new journey draws nigh. With the arrival of Animal Crossing on Switch comes a chance to experience this franchise with fresh eyes, along with all the die-hard fans. Being that it is such a unique happenstance (given the popularity of AC), it seems fitting that such a perspective be shared. Given that this gamer’s exposure to the collection is exclusively in the Pocket Camp (mobile) version, a fresh eye is exactly what is to be bestowed upon this eagerly awaited epic.
As if to prepare for the grand scheme ahead, AC:PC seems to only cover the basic actions of what is, essentially, the icon for cute-animals resourcing games. The penultimate goal is collecting items and resources to please the picky friends that you choose to surround yourself with.
Although it seems that much of the mobile version is just passing time between events, the primary objective is to acquire all the perfectly pleasing personal items to place about your campsite. The variety of clothing items keeps you in whatever fashion to which you have become accustomed, be it dark and ominous or light and fluffy. With a multitude of themes to fit any lifestyle, transitioning your zone to fit your mood is made quite simple. As far as as cute and bubbly mobile games go, AC:PC is truly the perfect segue into its soon-to-be released, major-console version.
The setting; a colorful world full of cute, sassy animals ready to stick out that wanting hand at a moments notice. An ever-changing world, customized by effort and personal desire, full of tasks to accomplish and items ready to be purchased at unfair prices. This adorable and engaging locale will be home to many cuddly critters, super hyped on the notion of being your bestie, so long as you are willing to make a few deviations in your daily routine to acquire whatever benign artifact they think will bring them closer to contentment.
Contrived solely from personal whimsy, the decor of the land will change as frequently as the the tides. The townsfolk are always cheery and quirky, never letting woe reach their beady-eyed smile. There is always something to do; from tending your beautiful garden, to spending big bucks on upgrades to your home or town-space. Altogether, the presupposition is that AC Switch will be everything that this franchise was meant to be from the start. There is much hope and high expectations for the new AC installment, and is unlikely to disappointment.Â

Cosmic Express is a puzzle game in space. If you love cute space colonies, puzzles, and adorable looking graphics this game might be your new addiction. Cosmic Express goes well beyond the common puzzle games, in which often you encounter repetition, and unbalanced gameplay. Cosmic Express masters all of this with an adorable, and unique gameplay balance.
This cute puzzle game has found a wonderful balance to keep you entertained for hours at a time – that is if your brain will not smoke up before. Cosmic Express challenges you with puzzles in which you will have to transport the space colony from point A to point B successfully. In order to do so you will have to build the train tracks in a fashion that allows the transport to go smoothly. This may sound easy, but once you advance – level by level it will get more challenging making you think twice where you place your tracks. This entire process is supported by the adorable look and feel of the game. Graphics as well as the music will have you smile as you play along.
The positioning of the tracks can be challenging, as you try to find the most efficient way. However, this is not the only obstacle you will be faced with. You will also need to deal with critters that pollute your tiny dome world and prevent your train and other potential fares from advancing. There are also different colored aliens to discover, and it is up to you to make sure you are taking the right alien to the correct ship. If you don’t you will never be going to move your space colony successfully from beginning to start.
Cosmic Express is exactly what you expect from a well designed puzzle game. It will eat up your time and make your brain go up in smoke. It is a charming, and adorable experience to bring the little alien colony from their pickup point, to their final destination.
If you ever wanted to experience the feeling of running your own alien civilization under a dome – then Cosmic Express is the game for you. Cosmic Express also does not rely on you sitting at your PC or Mac computer all day, you can take the game on the go and play on your iPhone or Android phone. The game is out now on the iTunes Appstore, Google Play Store or for PC and Mac.
