The developers of the popular indie title, Ooblets, have become a part of the Epic Games Store.
We at myPotatoGames absolutely cannot wait for Ooblets! We have been keeping an eye on this adorable upcoming title for some time now. The cutesy little creatures instantly captured our attention and hearts. Watching them dance and groove has been an excellent past-time while waiting for the game to be developed. Each update giving us just a little more hope that the game is coming sooner than later.
The latest update from developers is that they are signing up to be a part of the Epic Games Store, joining ranks with the likes of Oxygen Not Included. Aside from temporary exclusivity to PC, the game will get a boost in funding to help get it into our hands that much faster! Now with the devs having more ability to focus on development, Ooblets will have the chance to truly meet its maximum potential.

Fringe Planet is an upcoming survival simulation game.
Human vs. wild has been a long standing go to for testing the wills of the mightiest gamers. Survival games, such as Don’t Starve, test your wits and dare you to think outside the box so that you may not only survive, but thrive. Usually the goal in survival games is to reach a point where you have overcome the day to day grind, and are able to explore with ease. Fringe Planet holds true to this classic formula, and delivers in a graphic style reminiscent of Dragon Quest Builders.
About Fringe Planet
In Fringe Planet, you awaken in a cold and inhospitable land with no memory of who you are or how you got there. Luckily, you are not alone. There are five survivors with you that also have no idea what’s going on. You are on a floating island with limited resources and only the drive to survive and the help of a handful of friends to keep you going. Like most survival games, the initial push is to guarantee the basics for survival, i.e. food, water, warmth and shelter. Having these things on hand makes deeper exploration possible, and allows the beginning of the journey to discovery.
In Fringe Planet, you will have the option of either reaching an end-game point with story resolution, or ignoring that entirely and dominating the land. Between that and the variety of secrets and alternating environments to explore, this title will have much by way of replay-ability. The game will also feature both science and magic, giving the player a wider range of craftables and other helpful doodads. This title is set in a H.P. Lovecraft styled world. The developer has compared his title to such games as RimWorld and Dwarf Fortress.

Dinkum, an RPG and simulation game is currently being developed by James Bendon and published by The Irregular Corporation. The release is marked as “coming soon” on Steam where you can wishlist right here. Essentially, Dinkum is a life simulator with town building elements. In Dinkum you will arrive with a group of explorers to a previously unexplored island. You will be tasked with building a home for yourself as well as helping the other explorers build their homes and businesses as well. The developer also mentions that you can attract more people to come live in your town.
Dinkum has a very unique premise as the environment is entirely Australian with Australian wildlife. This mean you’ll be dealing with a lot of crocodiles and kangaroos in the wild, and raising farm animals such as giant wombats and turkeys! There will also be several different biomes to explore such as a desert biome, a tropical biome with palm trees, banana trees and ferns, bush-land biome with swamps, etc. The term “dinkum” is even slang in Australia and New Zealand for meaning “genuine, honest, or true”.

Since our last article on Critter Cove, which was the interview we had with Gentleman Rat including all three members behind the indie studio, there has been a lot more development to the game! You can get the full details from their blog post right here or get the highlights below. We’d like to thank Gentleman Rat for giving myPotatoGames a shout-out on their website and can’t wait for their playable demo to be ready! We’d absolutely love to be a captain of our own ship and go treasure hunting, salvaging shipwrecks, and exploring with the most adorable crew members!
The Main Island
The main island of Critter Cove is the first location that the player will see when starting the game. Therefore, the developers wanted to make sure that it would immediately catch our attention and give us the urge to explore. You can see below that the vast and varied layout is perfect for long-term building of homes and shops, which is a large part of what we are looking forward to at myPotatoGames. This central location is the perfect balance of mountains and lush greenery with large empty spaces for customization. Moreover, the more you build-up this port, the more bustling it will become with more friendly NPCs!
Swimming with the Fishes
In Critter Cove you’ll be spending quite a bit of time on your ship and sailing to new locations such as other islands. You’ll also be diving underwater to explore the depths below. The developers mentioned in their interview with myPotatoGames that the player character will have the chance to stay underwater longer with the help of equipment like re-breathers and diving suits so it should be quite the experience! The sea has many resources and treasure so the creators have made sure the environments down there are fun and interesting. Their blog goes on to say: ” The world of Critter Cove is built on top of the sunken ruins of the old world, so expect to find sunken ships, buildings, monuments, cars, planes, and much more. “
Character Customization
All the characters in Critter Cove have very unique looks and personalities so the developers decided to give us the option to not only be humans but to be critters as well! We now also have the option to mix and match various body parts, to choose new patterns, and to alter colors. This will be a highly creative experience with more plans to include fantasy style characters such as griffons and dragons. Want a human body with a blue fox’s head? Well you can do just that! On that note, players will be able to customize and change the colors of their clothing which can even be gifted to your animal friends.

Set in the Scandinavian wilderness, Roki is a breathtaking adventure game full of both gloom and whimsy.
Steeped in lore with a rich narrative to guide, Roki is one adventure game that we absolutely can’t wait to play! We can already tell that the simple yet eloquent graphics truly attempt to capture the beauty and wonder that is Scandinavia. From the perilous mountain peaks to the frosted valleys, Roki is sure to be an adventure worthy of the heartiest heroes. However, it is not the environment that will be your foe here, but the darkness that looms therein.
While Roki is, at its surface, a point and click adventure game with cuteness galore and puzzles throughout, there is also some dark undertones to keep you on your toes. There are plenty of creepy creatures that dot the path and give the player a feeling of woe that must be overcome. Roki brings to the table a thriving environment that is a true joy to explore. This title is still in development, but we will be sure to keep an eye on it as the game develops.

Raccoo Venture is currently in development for Steam here by solo creator Diego Ras, based in Brazil. Although the release date is set for January 2020, you can download the Alpha Version of Raccoo Venture either on Game Jolt here or Itch.io here! Diego Ras was inspired by classics like Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Spyro, and Banjo & Kazooie which should all make us feel pretty nostalgic.
One of the interesting features of this game is the ability to collect memorable Special Outfits that will give new looks and customize our esteemed hero. From what we can see in the image below it looks like there’s a Cinco de Mayo themed outfit, a tribal one, a chef one, and possibly a wintry outfit! We had previously mentioned this breathtakingly beautiful adventure simulation game was coming to Windows, Mac, Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019. However, the developers, studio Chibig, have just announced today that they will be self-publishing which will take a lot more work and time! During the winter months the team will be working on localization, platform ports (the Nintendo Switch version is already functional), and testing. Meaning, the release date has been delayed to February 2020. Don’t worry though, we believe it will be well worth the wait! Summer in Mara is centered around the main island Qälis, a small town with different Qüidos, humans, cat-children, and a few Elit. In this city, you can see the mixture of cultures scattered all through Mara. In Qälis, you will meet people, trade with them, and discover lots of secrets about Mara’s exotic and ancient structures. You’ll be able to befriend all of these villagers but you’ll also be able to craft, grow livestock, and plant trees and crops!
About Some of the Local Shops and Villagers
The Market: Three twins run this place, but be careful with them, since they can be really tricky.
Qälis Temple: Meet Blu, a strange individual that doesn’t talk much. But when Blu talks… nobody knows what he meant.
Taka’s Restaurant: He’s a famous and great chef, but very traditionalist. Brram, his nephew, wants to be like his uncle but also wants to explore the galaxy.
The Forge: Akaji is the blacksmith in Qälis. In her forge, you can see her latest work. Like, well, can you see what emerge from the ground?
The Adventurer: Onzo is a cat-child, but also the adventurer like you! He keeps all kind of stories in his diary!
Awan’s Tavern: It’s a great place to enjoy a different meal. But a lot of Qüidos don’t like this kind of “cuisine”.
The Other Villagers: Taima is a pirate that doesn’t know what pirates are, Fink is an Elit engineer, and Mayo is the worst waitress in Mara.
Studio Chibig plans on keeping us all updated on the progress of the game more often and will be letting all of their backers know more about the physical rewards which will still be releasing on schedule. Donut County is a physics puzzle and adventure game developed by Ben Esposito and published by Annapurna Interactive. In this colorful game, there are adorable characters to meet and holes to throw them in. Not to mention – tons of trash to steal.
About Donut County:
You play as BK. He’s a raccoon – and a new hire at a startup. The startup utilizes remote-controlled holes to steal trash. It’s a pretty sweet gig for a raccoon until…BK falls into one of the holes.
Then he has to answer to his best friend – Mira – and the other (adorable) residents of Donut County. They’re pretty unhappy with BK because they’re now trapped 999 feet below their homes.
So, what do you do? You control a hole. Whenever you swallow something, the hole grows a little bit bigger. It reminds us of Katamari Damacy.
You also solve puzzles by combining different objects inside of the hole then launching them back out.
