Publisher Team17 and developer Wonderscope just released a new announcement trailer for the release date of Hokko Life! A lot of new features and updates have been added since receiving the feedback of fans and now the game has it all! You can craft, mine, fish, catch bugs, build, gather resources, farm, and befriend the anthropomorphic animal villagers!
The greatest game feature is the extensive item editing and customization options! You get to design and place every single building in town, including homes, from the exterior to the interior. Redecorating is made easy as you can freely move anything anytime anywhere. The same goes for individual items such as furniture! You can modify every separate piece of decor with different shapes, sizes, colours and textures.
Hokko Life has been in Steam Early Access for a little over a year now and it’s finally time for the launch of the full version! The Animal Crossing-like life and farming simulation game is officially coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 27th, 2022!

Team17 is definitely one of my favorite game publishers currently in business. They have helped the production and release of some pretty amazing games throughout the years. Right now, they are having a sale on some pretty wonderful games currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
Some of the games on sale right now are obvy already in my library, but it never hurts to share the news of great deals when I see them. My Time at Portia is an absolutely amazing game and should be played by all who have not had the opportunity. Now might just be your chance, as it has been marked sown from $29.99 to $10.19. You’d be silly not to buy it at this point.
Also, both of the Overcooked games are on sale right now. The Special Edition of the original Overcooked has been marked down to $6.79, while Overcooked 2 has seen a price drop from $24.99 to $14.99. For all those that have missed out on the chance to play these whacky and whimsical cooking games, there might not be a better time to own them on this most wholesome of consoles.
If cooking games are your thing, you may also want to check out Automachef. This futuristic restaurant sim/tycoon style game is now 50% off, dropping the price from $14.99 to $7.49. A pretty great deal for a simple yet enthralling and addicting game.
If you are more the adventure/platformer type, there is also a sale on Yooka-Laylee, a game developed by the same team that brought us Banjo Kazooie. This one has seen a pretty substantial price drop, going from $39.99 to $13.59. That is quite a deal for such an expansive and exciting game.
These are just a few of my favorites from the Team17 sale. To see more and also have the chance to acquire the games in this list, just pop over to the sale page of the official Nintendo Website. There you will find more discounted Team17 games, as well as many others from the Nintendo Summer Games sale.

Hokko Life is desribed as a ‘cosy, creativity filled community sim game’. The game is being developed by Robert Tatnell who runs his own indie game dev company, Wonderscope. Initially Wonderscope intended to both develop and publish Hokko Life. However, this is an understandably big feat for one person. Therefore in April 2020, it was revealed that Wonderscope had ‘teamed’ up with Team 17, who will now publish the game. Team 17 are notorious for publishing games such as My Time at Portia, Overcooked, and Yooka-Laylee. Hokko Life will hopefully release for PC via Steam at some point this year. The price of the game is not yet known.
Hokko Life begins with your player stepping off of a train. Having taken over your very own (albeit a little dusty and old) workshop, you are free to craft and create to your heart’s content.
The quiet village which you now call home needs your design expertise. Help create an endearing town for its inhabitants. Armed with paint and tools, you can design, build and decorate new homes for your new furry friends.
Players can craft materials and combine them how they wish. This allows you to create a variety of cool new furniture and items for the town. By collecting flowers and mixing paints, you can use them to design wallpapers, flooring and even clothing!
Given plenty of design choices, you could design a bright flowery wallpaper set, or instead create an urban-industrial furniture collection. Whatever your taste, with a workshop at hand, you have complete freedom in designing a beautiful town for the townsfolk.
The latest Devlog from the creator of Hokko Life appeared on Steam on May 6th BST. In it, featured some exciting little updates about the game’s progress.
Now working with Team 17, Wonderscope have stated that ‘epic updates to Hokko Life’ have apparently already been made! The ones mentioned in the Devlog include:
In April, Robert started work on allowing players to edit the design of objects in the world, by simply interacting with them. Until that point, players had to return all the way to their workshop in order to edit a design. They would also need that object in their backpack to do this. (Sound familiar to Animal Crossing: New Horizons crafting and customization peeves? 😂). Now, however, if players spot something that they want to edit, they can do so from anywhere in the world.
Robert says in the Devlog that he will continue to think of ways to make the game more convenient and fun to play. He wishes to remove anything that might be a hassle to players in order to improve their gaming exprience. (Take notes, Nintendo 😂).
Another small change could possibly be the ability to evolve your players avatar. The information about this is in a recent Hokko Life Patreon post from May 15th. However the post is only accessible to the game’s Patreon supporters (which is totally fair btw!). If you are a supporter of the game on Patreon though, and know what this post is about, feel free to enlighten us! We’re curious!
You can check out an exclusive interview with the game’s solo developer, Robert Tatnell here.
And to get a more in-depth insight into the game, you should check out this article here.
You can visit the game’s website for info here and visit their Steam page and read their Devlogs here. Additionally, you can follow them on Twitter, and/or join their Discord server here.

Overcooked 2 is still one of my favorite co-op games out there and every time Ghost Town Games and Team17 announce new content for it, I’m super excited! Moving Out is developed by SMG Studio in collaboration with Devm Games but now they have announced today that they are partnering with Team17 as their publisher! Team17 has published amazing games such as Overcooked, Automachef, Yooka-Laylee, and more, so we’re very excited that they’ll be helping out this hilarious cooperative action and simulation game! Moving Out is now coming out sometime in 2020 on PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), Xbox One. If you’re going to PAX West this weekend, you can even try the game for yourself at Team17’s booth on the show floor! The luckiest among you can receive these wild free plushies.
Below we have a new trailer in the form of a training video to becoming a F.A.R.T. and we are so here for it. Looks like we can customize the heads of our characters (i.e. a lizard’s and flower-pot head). Also new in the trailer is the rounding up of farm animals, because farmers can move out too. Expertly move furniture with friends, get creative, and enjoy the beautiful frustration of this physics-based game! Moving in this game also seems to be quite the dangerous affair with the running through traffic and being chased by ghosts so we’re in for a good time.

Playtonic Games have just made a surprise announcement about their next project! They wanted to take a fresh approach to Yooka-Laylee and added new mechanics and gameplay to this brand new game! If you don’t already know about Yooka-Laylee in general, you can check out our last article about recent updates to the Nintendo Switch and PC versions. Now, we present to you Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, a wacky and adorable adventure and platforming game!
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair isn’t a direct sequel and the developers assure us that they still have plans for the future of the Yooka-Laylee universe. Also, David Wise and Grant Kirkhope, as well as Playtonic’s own in-house composers Dan Murdoch and Matt Griffin have worked together on another amazing soundtrack for this game! Take a look at the reveal trailer and read on to find out more.
There are 2D and 3D elements to Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair – so we hope you’ll find some joy! Also, don’t worry – we have always said we’d love to have another go at 3D platforming, but it wasn’t the right fit for our second project.
Playtonic Games

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be releasing simultaneously on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, sometime in 2019! Team17 will be launching physical versions as well as digital ones.
