June is an exciting month for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the Wedding Season event in full swing, new bugs and fish to catch, and the Dodo airlines’ new service, Nintendo are once again ‘switching’ things up and keeping the game interesting for players. Additionally, June sees the introduction of three new seasonal items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that players can purchase.
The items are all available under the seasonal tab of the Nook Shopping section of the NookStop terminal. Alternatively, if you’ve purchased enough items from the Nook Shopping catalogue, you may have unlocked the Nook shopping app on your NookPhone where the items can also be bought.
To celebrate International Children’s Day, players can buy the super cute handmade cape and handmade crown for 500 and 300 bells respectively. Relive your childhood by dressing up and playing superheroes!
Like with the Mother’s Day thank-you Mom mug, you can show your appreciation for you Father with the thank-you Dad mug, which is available for 600 bells.
The items are all available to buy until the 30/6.

Unless you’ve just started your deserted island life, you are probably aware that lots of different furniture can be customized.
This is a really nice touch to New Horizons as it allows players to create patterns and truly express themselves. You are also probably aware that items such as tools and NookPhone cases can be customized also. And of course, it would be silly to allow players to create a bunch of different types of pro design clothing and designs and not creating a way to share them.
Luckily, that’s where the Able Sisters‘ Custom Designs Kiosk comes in. Players can upload and share their creations here. You can also download other players’ designs by inputting a Creator ID code or a Design ID code into the machine. The Design ID code will take you directly to the design you wish to download.
A Creator ID code allows you to browse through and download all of the designs a particular player has made.
There are literally so many amazing clothing designs that people have created, it’s hard to keep up. However, you can get the codes for awesome custom clothing here, here, and here. But even with lots of cool clothes, you may want designs to customize furniture to make your pad more rad. And to save you rifling through Nooksisland.com, pinterest and tumblr, etc, MyPotatoGames has saved you some time and effort. Here are some fantastic fan-made furniture designs for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Cuppa tea?
This design was originally made by a player called quesobee. However due to not having a Switch Online membership she could not post a code for it. after a lot of demand for a code (mostly from brits, as it is true, we do like our tea…), it was kindly remade by Elizabeth from Wumbo Isle.
(Bonus Cushion Design)
I haven’t tried out this design, but if all goes according to plan, it’ll be a hilarious addition to any cat lovers island home:
FYI: Forget what I literally just said about tasseled blankets taking up unaffordable space. Because I just found this freaking rainbow blanket! 😮 To bag yourself one, you will need 9 free pro design slots to place it. But in my opinion, it is totally worth it. Look at how awesome it looks!
Top Tip: If you really like a design, you should type in the Creator ID displayed on each design’s image. This will show you all of the creations shared by that player, and the chances are, you’ll find more awesome designs!
A creator that all animal (and Pokémon) lovers should definitely check out, is the creator of the cat cushion ID code. Her name is Melissa from Kiya, and she has an insane amount of amazing animal designs. Some examples of her designs are shown below:
If you’re looking for more custom designs that aren’t clothing, why not check out this article here? ✨

April. May and June has introduced a variety of new critters for players to catch. One of these, is the popular snapping turtle. One reason for the creature’s popularity, is that unlike other critters, they bizzarely don’t have tanks. This gives the illusion that they are free-roaming. Therefore, people are creating habitats for them and keeping them as pets.
Some people have even taken things to the next level and filled entire rooms in their houses with them. (PETA most probably definitely disapproves of your in-game shenaningans btw. Smh at you all, SMH) 😂.
Another reason, is that the reptiles fetch a pretty penny, especially when sold to C.J. during his visits. However, you may be wondering, how do I catch one? I had no clue either, but after some extensive research, here are some tips on how to catch a snapping turtle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Although the snapping turtle is tecnhnically a reptile, and not a fish, you will still need a fishing rod to catch one.
Snapping turtles can only be found in rivers, so you won’t ‘snap one up’ in ponds or the ocean (sorry not sorry).
If you are wondering why you still haven’t caught yourself a snapping turtle, this could be why:
Time of day:
The creatures are night owls, (rather like Blathers), and only come out between 9pm and 4am.
Time of year:
The snapping turtle is present from April to October in the Northern Hemisphere.
In the Southern Hemisphere, the snapping reptiles are present between October to April instead.
They are relatively uncommon, therefore it may take a little while to bag pocket one. Especially when taking into consideration the below fish shadow information. ⬇️
The fish shadow of a snapping turtle is pretty large. It has a shadow size of 5, making it one of the larger ‘fish’ in the game. Unfortunately, it’s shadow is also the same size as a sea bass. Therefore you may have to endure a few of the sea bass’s terrible pun before you nab yourself your turtle.
“I caught a sea bass! No, wait- it’s at least a C+!” 😒 – Sea bass pun
You should probably donate your first one to the museum. When donating the snapping turtle, or asking Blathers for more information about it, he will initially remain professional. This doesn’t last for very long though, and he’ll soon go on to tell you an amusing anecdote:
“The snapping turtle is a large turtle known for it’s crocodile-like body and long claws. No, wait—it is better known for it’s ferocious bite, which it can deliver with shocking speed for a turtle. NO, WAIT—it is BEST known for that time one chased me across a parking lot and I had to climb on top of a car.”
After making the wise decision to donate your first specimin, you can then choose to either keep following catches as pets, or whether to sell them.
No, the closest they will come to ‘biting you’, is opening their mouth wide and hissing at you if you interact with one using the A button. And no need to worry about misplacing your turtle, as they will stay in the spot that you placed them in. Essentially, they are like the other critters in tanks as they are fixed to one spot. However, they are unique in that they have no visible containment, and players can interact with them (albeit hostilely). *hiss*
Nook’s Cranny will buy snapping turtles for 5,000 bells each.
C.J. will buy snapping turtles for 7,500 bells each. Therefore if you’d like to make a few extra bells, it’s worth holding on to any you want to sell until C.J. visits.
But let’s be honest, it would probably have decimated the book and had a nice munch on Sherb’s arm if the game wasn’t rated E for Everyone (you can see it in its eyes I tell you). I don’t think amputation counts as comic mischief. So yes, the turtle is definitely enjoying a nice wholesome bedtime story like a good boi and not plotting the unsuspecting Sherb’s demise.
If you can work out how many times I said ‘snapping turtle’ or ‘turtle’ in the article you will get good fortune from the fortune telling turtle (providing he’s not in a snappy mood, which is never, making this prize redundant). I don’t even know the answer myself, but I feel like it’s a lot and am intrigued.
A big thank you to Charlotte Jones for allowing me to visit her awesome island, Buttercup, letting me take some photos of her beautiful turtle habitat, and allowing MyPotatoGames to use an image. Her turtle habitat is the featured image for this article, shown at the top of the page. 😊

Wands are cool items exclusive to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They allow players to instantly change into pre-assembled outfits with, well, the swish of a wand. The Star Wand recipe is the wand recipe that players are most likely to first obtain. All wands require star fragments to craft them. In order to learn more about obtaining the Star Wand recipe and obtaining star fragments, check out this article here. However, the Star Wand isn’t the only wand players can get their hands on. There are a whole bunch of cute and cool wands in the game waiting to be discovered. And so, here’s how to get all wands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. 🌟
Celeste will give you the recipe for this wand the very first time you meet her. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x large star fragment to craft.
The Bamboo Wand recipe can be found during spring either in a message in a bottle, or in a balloon present. Alternatively, players acquire it as a gift from another resident. It will require 3x star fragments and 6x young spring bamboo pieces to craft. You can sometimes find a bamboo island and collect bamboo resources from it when using a Nook Miles Ticket to go on a mystery tour.
Again, the Cherry-Blossom Wand recipe is exclusive to spring. Or rather, cherry blossom season during spring to be more precise. Like the Bamboo Wand, the recipe can be found either in a message in a bottle, or in a balloon present. Or alternatively, as a gift from another resident. You will need 3x star fragments and 3x cherry blossom petals to craft it.
The Bunny Day Wand recipe can be acquired from Zipper on Bunny Day once you have crafted all of the bunny day items. For more on this, click here. The recipe necessitates 3x star fragments and a nice and 1x creepy Wobbling Zipper Toy to craft.
This simply named ‘Wand’ looks like it came straight out of a Harry Potter film. So for all you Potterheads, this one is a must have.
The Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 2x star fragments to craft.
Top Tip: Combine it with a graduation gown, round specs, black trousers and shoes, and you’re a wizard Harry!
The Tree Branch Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 5x tree branches to craft.
The Mums Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x yellow mum flower to craft.
The Cosmos Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x white cosmos to craft.
The Lily Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x white lily to craft.
The Hyacinth Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x pink hyacinth to craft.
The Rose Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x red rose to craft.
The Pansy Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x yellow pansy to craft.
The Tulip Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x red tulip to craft.
The Windflower Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 1x orange windflower to craft.
The Mushroom Wand recipe can only be found during fall. Like the Bamboo Wand, the recipe can be found either in a message in a bottle, or in a balloon present. Or alternatively, can be received as a gift from another resident. You will need 3x star fragments and 3x thin mushrooms to craft it.
As the Mushroom Wand looks uh, rather questionable, I personally prefer mine customized to the red and white version 🙂
The Shell Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 3x summer shells to craft.
The recipe for the Ice Wand can be obtained from Snowboy during winter. The crafting materials needed include 3x star fragments and 1x large snowflake.
The Golden Wand recipe can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 2x gold nuggets to craft.
The Iron Wand recipe (which literally looks like a metal pipe) can be given to players randomly by talking to Celeste when she visits. It requires 3x star fragments and 3x iron nuggets to craft.
Players can receive a Fish Wand from C.J. during the Fishing Tourney. This wand is a physical item however, and not a recipe. It therefore doesn’t have a DIY and can’t be crafted.
Like the Fish Wand, the Bug Wand is also a physical item and not a recipe. Players can receive the Bug Wand from Flick during the Bug-Off event.
The Wedding Wand recipe can be gifted from Cyrus during the Wedding Season event in June. If you help Reese and Cyrus take wedding anniversary photos at Photopia, you will be rewarded with wedding-themed items. The recipe for the wand requires 3x star fragments and 1x Wedding Flower Stand to craft.

Nintendo of America recently tweeted a fun little activity for New Horizons players to take part in. The tweet consisted of a cute little bingo card filled with various activities that players can check off as they complete. If like me, you have a New Horizons journal tracker, this is the perfect little printable to add to it. Also, if like me, you experience satisfaction from ticking off things and making To-Do lists, here’s a fun way to track your Animal Crossing: New Horizons progress with a bingo card.
The bingo card (shown below) features achievements such as ‘crafting at least 30 items’, and ‘going on a mystery tour’. Whilst a lot of us have probably done many, if not all of these by now, I admittedly can’t tick them all off. I haven’t actually bought or sold any turnips yet, nor have I made any fish bait… ?
(Also, having made an awesome custom design is a debatable one for me…) ?
Let us know if you’ve accomplished everything listed on the card and can scream say bingo! Unfortunately, Nintendo of America are being meanies and not giving out prizes. Therefore, have this (virtual) gold star from us ?, and give yourself a (literal) pat on the back.
