[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Mobile Application for Nintendo’s Online Service has a release date. The release date is July 21st of this year.

The application allows players to chat in game with friends and organize online gaming sessions.

Some additional details were provided on the Nintendo Switch Online Application’s webpage:

    • The Nintendo Switch Online smart device app is designed to enhance your online experience for compatible games on the Nintendo Switch console.
    • This app will initially launch with a limited feature set and will be compatible with the Splatoon 2 game.
    • In Splatoon 2, the app will give you access to SplatNet 2, where you can see your online battle stats, your gear, and much more.
    • With the app, you can send online play invitations to players on your Nintendo Switch system’s friend list. The app also lets you quickly send invites via social networks and messaging services. When you’re invited to a game, you’ll get notified right away via a push notification on your smart device.
    • Once players are connected, you can use voice chat openly with friends while in the online lobby and during online play (depending on the game).

The Online Service for Nintendo Switch is not due to release until 2018 but with the release of the application, Nintendo has made it easier to chat with friends.

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]rash Bandicoot’s N.Sane Trilogy is selling fast everywhere, much to Sony’s surprise. However, there is an easter egg located within the title screen itself that works with Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

In the original Crash Bandicoot: Warped, if you do the Konami Code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square) on the title screen, you got to play a Spyro the Dragon Demo. In the remastered version, if you hover over the Crash Bandicoot: Warped Game Select screen (before pressing new or continue) and do the Konami code, the “new” and “continue” options disappear. It does not give you a demo to play but the code doesn’t do anything on the original Crash Bandicoot or Cortex Strikes Back so it appears to be intentional. Even if Sony decides not to do a Spyro Remaster, it is a neat easter egg nonetheless.

If you don’t feel like trying the code yourself, Youtuber ThornsofSerenity tried out the code. You can view it below.

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ionik recently announced a new Joy-Con charger called the Power Plate for the Nintendo Switch. A date of when the technology will be available has yet to be announced but it should be “soon”. The launching price is 49.99. You can click here to see Bionik’s full listing of the Power Plate as well as their other Nintendo Switch products.

The recently announced device will let you charge your Switch’s Joy-Cons with a 4,500mAh battery. The Power Plate can also charge up your Nintendo Switch with its USB-C out port.

Between the two Joy-Cons, there is an LCD screen. The LCD screen appears to be a charging indicator. The Power Plate charges itself via the dock that it comes with.

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]lthough most gaming companies such as Microsoft and Sony are focusing on making their hardware compatible with 4K Gaming, Nintendo is not concerned with that market. Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America, recently said that the 4K Gaming market is a bit “too limited”. Reggie recently gave an interview with the Verge on Nintendo’s stance regarding 4K Gaming and Fan Feedback.

    On 4K Gaming:

The Nintendo mission is to reach as many consumers as possible and to have them engage and have fun with our [intellectual property]. That’s what we try and do. So inherently, we go for a more mainstream audience. Inherently, we want our products to be affordable. We want our products to be easy to pick up and experience, low learning curve. We want our IP to shine as we deliver these experiences.

That’s the way we approach it. And so, what that means is, a sweet spot of $300 for the Nintendo Switch, a platform that has Mario and Zelda and Splatoon. Going against a more limited consumer pool, a higher price point, requiring investments in other ways — 4K TVs, what have you — that is a strategy that for us, candidly, is a bit too limited.

    On Fan Feedback:

We certainly look at what our community is saying. But arguably, if all we did was listen to our community, we would be creating content against a handful of [intellectual property] with a handful of feature sets, because that’s typically what the consumer focuses in on. Things that they know, things that they’ve seen before.

Every character in ARMS has unique abilities. Max Brass has the ability to not flinch when he takes attacks as long as his arms are charged up. The ability to not flinch is similar to Master Mummy(who has this ability by default). Similar to Spring Man, Max Brass gains permanently charged arms when he is below 20% health.

Max Brass will be available next month as free DLC. After the official release of ARMS, the game will be gaining a spectator mode.

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]arvest Moon is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year. For the 20th anniversary, Natsume is doing two things: They are bringing the series to PC for the first time and bringing the series to consoles which has not been done in a few years. The new Harvest Moon game is known as Light of Hope.

Light of Hope’s graphics are top down and players view the cast of Light of Hope with more realistic proportions. Light of Hope does away with the full 3-D perspective which harken back to its most recent predecessors, which were the first Harvest Moon games developed by Natsume after their split with Marvelous Entertainment (It begs repeating: The series known in the West as Harvest Moon now is different from Bokujo Monogatari, the original farming sim franchise that now goes by Story of Seasons stateside).

Producer Taka Maekawa informed Polygon that this 2.5D style is meant to evoke the very first Harvest Moon game. Although the 16-bit Super Nintendo sprites have been replaced with 3D-rendered models, the flat perspective and grid-based, limited range of motion are all straight from Harvest Moon on SNES.

This art style might remind people of the popular farming sim Stardew Valley. However, Natsume is adamant that Light of Hope is not taking anything from Stardew Valley but rather they are going in their own direction. The switch version will have full touch controls and the pc version can be played with just a mouse.

The game is expected to launch in early 2018.

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]intendo announced today that a new Kirby game is in development. The game is due to release in 2018 at an unspecified date. The game is currently titled as “Kirby” but that is subject to change. The game is exclusive to the Switch.

The short gameplay video shown at E3 suggests that the new Kirby Switch game will support up to four players for co-op platforming. Kirby, in addition to sucking in enemies and acquiring their powers, now has the option to turn enemies into allies that can be controlled by either the CPU or a real-life player. The multiplayer that Kirby could offer would be a great fit for the Switch.

Here is the gameplay video that was released at E3.
