[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen Mario + Rabbids was first announced, the game was met with a lot of skepticism. It seemed to be a weird mash up between the Super Mario and Rabbids’ universes combined with turn based strategy. However, Nintendo’s and Ubisoft’s high risk seems to be paying off.

The first reviews that are coming in praise the game for being challenging (even for tactical turn based veterans) and has about 18-20 hours of gameplay.

GameSpot gave the game a 9 out of 10,  saying “Battle that triumphs in creating a magical game world that is undeniably delightful, and within it, houses a deep, challenging turn-based tactical combat system”.

Polygon gave it an 8 out of 10, saying that the game offers a “legitimately challenging squad tactics experience without alienating the family friendly Mario audience”.

IGN gave it a 7.7/10, and said that “the game embraces the fact that it’s complete nonsense on every level, and just rolls with it.” (but in a fun way).

It is certainly refreshing to have a unique title come to the switch that is unlike anything we have seen before with Super Mario.

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ince the Sims 4 released in September of 2014, people have been clamoring for pets. While Maxix and Ea have created and improved upon many features in the previous Sims games (Vampires anyone?), they have been quiet on when we would see pets in the game.

The announcement about the pets expansion came today at Gamecon from Publisher EA. The new expansion will be appropriately named Cats and Dogs and is due to be released November 10th. The expansion will add a robust tool in “create a pet” that will add tons of customization to your furry friend. The customization includes detailing the age, breed (you can mix breeds!), and personality traits. You can also, for the first time, add clothing to your pet as well.

The expansion will include a new profession in the Veterinarian and players will be able to create their own Vet Clinic from the ground up.

Like previous expansions, a new locale will be added called Brindleton Bay. Brindleton Bay is a coastal locale and is centered around pets. Some of the activities that involve Pets includes playing fetch, obstacle courses, and picking up the occasional stray cat or dog.

According to a listing on Origin, the new expansion will cost $39.99.

Here is the adorable trailer that was released:

[dropcap]Minecraft[/dropcap] will let players transfer worlds between the Wii U and the Switch version following the next update. This feature was announced today during a Live Stream.

Originally, the Minecraft team wanted this functionality to be included at the launch of the Switch version. However, the team wanted to take their time to ensure that the functionality would work perfectly.

Luckily, it doesn’t seem like Minecraft players have a long time to wait for this new feature. Following the next update, the feature should be automatically enabled.

Here is some footage of the functionality in action:

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nintendo Switch will have it’s online services taken down for a brief period on August 9th. The maintenance period starts at 5:50 pm Pacific Time and lasts until 7:30 pm Pacific Time.

Some network services may be temporarily unavailable during this time period. Naturally, there are not any details about what the maintenance involves or improves.

Luckily, it takes place after Splatoon 2 finishes up their latest event, Splatfest, so the game will not be interrupted.

[dropcap]U[/dropcap]nlike most retail stores that are open on Thanksgiving, Gamestop has always been closed all day. That is changing this year as Gamestop will be open for a “limited time”, not full business hours.

A representative from Gamestop told Kotaku

To better serve our guests with their evolving holiday shopping needs, this year GameStop will open its stores for a shortened and limited time on Thanksgiving Day. Many of our store associates and guests have asked for this. We have heard their requests and are making an adjustment to our previous position on this topic.

In 2014, GameStop CEO Paul Raines said the move to keep its stores closed on Thanksgiving was “out of respect for our associates and their families.”

In recent years, GameStop was closed on Thanksgiving Day but opened at midnight for the Black Friday shopping craze. It is presumed that Gamestop will compensate Thanksgiving Day employees with an increased holiday pay rate, though this is not confirmed.

Will you be shopping on Thanksgiving at Gamestop? Let us know in the comments below!

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]f you want to unlock all the extras in Metroid: Samus Returns then you are going to want to start saving money now before the game’s release date of September 15th. You will need the two new Amiibo, crouching Samus and a Metroid, along with the previous two Metroid amiibo in order to unlock all of the extras in the game.

So what are the extras in the game? Nintendo elaborated on all of the Amiibo extras in an interview with Eurogamer.

First off, the figurine of a crouched Samus will unlock an extra energy tank for you to use. After completing the game you’ll be able to unlock exclusive Metroid 2 art in an art gallery.

Next, the new Metroid amiibo. This will let you reveal the location of any nearby Metroid on your map which sounds pretty useful.  After completing the game, you can also unlock a new difficulty mode, “Fusion”, and you can wear Samus’ suit from the Metroid Fusion game.

Then, the Smash Bros. Amiibo Samus will unlock a missile tank. After completing the game, you can gain exclusive concept art for your gallery.

Lastly, Zero Suit Samus will unlock another energy tank. After completing the game, you will be able to listen to the Samus Returns soundtrack of background music via a special mode.

While the Amiibo certainly add a lot of value to the game. It is rather expensive to buy all of the Amiibo required. The new Amiibo set retails for 29.99 USD alone. Time will tell if these exclusive features will be enough to purchase the Amiibo required.
