Tales of the Shire has been drip-feeding gamers teaser images and short videos via their Instagram since September of last year. From the snippets and absolute lack of information about the game, people have speculated that it would be a cozy game that takes place in the Shire with our favorite halfling people (obviously). Otherwise, there has been no real information on what the gameplay is going to be like, until now! Wētā Workshop has teamed up with Private Division to bring this lovely-looking game to life. If you’re unfamiliar with Wētā Workshop, they’re responsible for creating many of the memorable props, weapons, armor, and costumes for the The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Now, they’re bringing us a cozy hobbit experience with Tales of the Shire! In this game, you get to live the life of a hobbit in the serene landscapes of the Shire. Start by creating your very own hobbit. Then, spend your idyllic days gardening, fishing, or cooking meals for fellow hobbit friends. Even forage for fruits and herbs or trade with locals. Explore the picturesque forests and lakes that surround your home. Plus, take advantage of the grid-less placement mechanic to decorate your very own hobbit hole! Place furniture and decor wherever you like to create your perfect home for you.

This is sure to be a great cozy game for those of you who loved The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and always wanted to experience the charming, relaxing life of the hobbits!

    Release Date

Tales of the Shire is coming to Steam, Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S sometime this year!

The art of the hobbits reminds me vaguely of Fae Farm, without the vibrancy!

Sony will (hopefully) finally reveal all the information that everyone has been waiting for in regards to the PlayStation 5.

Well, we basically already have all of the information that most of us need to make an informed decision on which console we are all going with this year. However, there are still some final details that may sway the opinions of those on the fence.

We have already seen some pretty sweet games that will be launching with the PS5, as well as gotten a close look at the new Dualsense controller, which promises to change the face of gaming as we know it. Not to mention the new lightening speeds boasted by both consoles.

What do we want?! When do want it?!

There is just a couple more things we really need to know, like “When?!” and “How much!?!”. It appears that Sony intends to finally answer these questions after Microsoft was forced to do so because of a supposed leak.

Better late than never, I guess. The PlayStation 5 Showcase will air tomorrow, September 16th, and will showcase new games from the Sony company. The presentation will air at 1pm Pacific Time, and will be viewable through PlayStation.com, Youtube and Twitch.

STRAY is an upcoming game that combines cyberpunk/cybercities, adventure, mystery-solving, and cats. The developers of STRAY, BlueTwelve Studio, are a small team from the south of France. Supposedly, they are “mostly made of cats and a handful of humans..”. Publishing STRAY is AnnaPurna Interactive, who also published the highly regarded ‘What Remains Of Edith Finch‘.

    The Origins Of STRAY:

STRAY originally started off as a concept called HK_Project. The premise being that players explored a strange/modern city as a stray cat. The few images and gifs that were floating about the internet became pretty popular and piqued the interest of many. A few years on, after many had forgot about HK_Project due to radio silence, the game made a surprising reappearance. On June the 11th 2020, an official announcement confirmed that the game, now entitled STRAY, will definitely be released. Even more excitingly, the game seems quite close to completion. The cyberpunk aesthetic, and awesome graphics of STRAY can be seen in the awesome trailer below:

    STRAY’s Gameplay & Plot:

The game’s official website says: “Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.” As a lost and alone cat, players must “Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.”

With no humans about, it’s clear that their are mysteries to unravel whilst you try to escape this weird cybercity.

Seeing as you are a feline after all, the game lets you ‘cat’ in some fun and playful ways. With danger present, you must obviously be stealthy and nimble. However, you can be silly and mischeivous whilst exploring the strange world too.

Whilst exploring, you will befriend a small flying drone, called B12. Between you and your new companion, you attempt to find a way out.

    STRAY’s Platforms, Release date, & Price(s)

The masterminds behind the game are aiming for a 2021 release. The game will definitely release on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the game will be backward compatable with consoles such as the PS4. However, as the announcement is very recent, more information regarding gameplay, compatability, pricing, etc, is likely to emerge in the future. So make sure to stay tuned!

If STRAY piques your interest, why not check out a Street Cat’s Tale here?

Sony will be streaming gameplay from the PlayStation 5 during its Future of Gaming event.

We have all been waiting quite some time now for Sony show a bit more about what to expect from its next generation console. There has been a bit of gameplay revealed, as well as some specs for the console itself. But, we are finally getting a full fledged event, called the Future of Gaming, from Sony to reveal exactly what’s coming with the PS5. The event is just hours away, and will be streaming live from Youtube and Twitch.

    future of gaming

Sony mentioned that the event will last just over an hour, and will feature games from developers that are “both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established.” The exact time for the event is set at Thursday, June 11 at 1:00pm Pacific time. Luckily, you can just use this article as your link to the event itself, as the video will be streaming below (when the time comes).

Streaming Video of The Future of Gaming

More info on the upcoming event.

The event has seen a few delays. Sony mentioned that it just didn’t seem appropriate to Stream the event during the protests, and released a statement mentioning, “We needed to step aside so key voices could be heard during this historic and important time.”

    Future of gaming
    Concept design?

Sony also made a statement in regards as what to expect when it comes to the event itself…

“Now that the event is confirmed for June 11, I wanted to add that this pre-taped program will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second. This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home. The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect.”

The stream will be available though Twitch as well, for those who prefer to watch it there.

All very exciting. With just two hours to go, I can’t wait to see what’s in store. For more information on the PlayStation 5, check out my coverage of the official website going live.

The official page for the PlayStation 5 now has a home on the PlayStation website, sorta.

It is hard not to get excited about a new generation of console, especially one with exclusives like Ratchet & Clank and Concrete Genie. The PlayStation 5 was announced at last years E3 Conference, and everyone has been on pins and needles since.

    PlayStation 5

So far, we still only know that the next generation console from the PlayStation Company is called the PlayStation 5, and that it will release sometime during the holiday season this year. Still no word on the price, or what games will be releasing alongside it.

Luckily, the new site for the Playstation 5 mentions an opportunity for you to sign up for newsletters in regards to the console, and answers to all the questions above. By signing up, you are promised to be among the first to know all the details surrounding the PS5 as they are released.

Unfortunately, the website doesn’t currently say much else. The only other tidbit in there is that the new site will be seeing more information coming soon. You can check out the PlayStation 5 official website here, or check out my coverage of what we know so far.

Sony has recently announced that its next-gen console will be named PlayStation 5.

Big surprise, there (wink). Not only that, but we also got the official release date as being the holiday season of next year. Looks like we can already start planning our shopping lists. From the recent news release, we got lots of great details that tell me I know for sure its going on mine.

First of all, the fact that the new gens will be switching to SSD’s (solid state drives) is already enough to convince me. Loading times didn’t use to exist back in the day, and may finally be disappearing again. The solid state drives will be dramatically faster than the hard-drives that we’re rocking today, to say the least. The PlayStation 5 will revolutionize gaming, and surely be the big ticket item of next Christmas.

    Possible design of PlayStation 5

The new feature that I am most excited about is the evolution of the PlayStation controllers. The PlayStation 4 already switched things up with features in a controller that had never been seen, like voice controls and a motion sensor pad.

The new controller will have “adaptive triggers” that can alter the sensitivity and resistance of your triggers and joysticks based on the actions being performed. For driving games, this will mean that you can actually feel the difference between wet terrain and dry. You will really notice the difference when you hit a puddle at high speeds now.

    Playstation 5
The new controller will look like the DualShock 4 shown here.

For all you crazy shooters out there, you will now feel the difference of trigger pull depending on what gun you are using. This will add a level of immersion that I can only dream of as of yet.

For more in depth details about the PlayStation 5, you can check out the exclusive interview on about the console on the official Wired website!
