At the the recent Consumer Electronics Show, Sony revealed the new logo as well as some features for PS5.
Not that we were supposed to expect anything but; the new PlayStation five logo is a PS5 formatted to look like the PS4 logo. Sticking to its roots, the Sony Corporation really isn’t looking to wow or innovate. Why fix something that’s not broken. Luckily, this wasn’t the only thing revealed at the conference.
Sony also released a slide that showcases some of the features that we are to expect from their next generation console. The slide pretty much displays what has already been revealed in the time since the consoles announcement, all in one nice, neat little package.
Message from the CEO
The CEO of Sony, Jim Ryan, did take the stage and give a nice speech about what we can expect with the PlayStation 5 as opposed to other new consoles. Jim states
“We’ve announced several key features of the PlayStation 5 hardware, which has been engineered with customizations that will truly differentiate the platform, including future-proof technology such as the ultra high-speed SSD, 3D audio, ultra HD Blu-ray, and a brand new controller with haptics and adaptive trigger buttons. With that foundation, PlayStation 5 will inspire developers to create expansive worlds with new gameplay experiences that are more immersive than ever before in how they look, sound, and feel.”
However, even with all this news and hubbub about features, there was no mention of backwards compatibility, which was previously advertised when the console was announced. Hopefully there will be a bit more before PS5’s release at the end of 2020.
