Stardew Valley update adds lots of great goodies!

Lots Of TLC in this farm!

In a recent post from @concernedape, it has been revealed that our beloved farming SIM title is getting an expansive update. Of course, there could never be enough to do in Stardew Valley. Nothing quite like spending every morning tending your garden and caring for your animals before setting out on whatever adventure is necessary for that day! Be it reaching the next elevator level in the mine, or using those mined resources to get that beautiful gold ax, every day is wonderful in Stardew Valley.

A ride in a winter wonderland.

So, obviously, the news of this update being “packed with new stuff” is quite welcomed indeed. What new activities await? One new feature that has been divulged is the addition of a new character ability for Marlon, who can now be paid to retrieve items that you may have dropped in those hectic mines. Nothing worse than getting way down in the mines, then losing the gold hoe that you shouldn’t have brought with you in the first place. Well, no longer, thanks to our wonderful dev!

    Camping Time

There is also mention in the Tweet of some “quality of life” improvements. These features are being implemented to streamline the gameplay in the Valley. As to what exactly this means, we could only speculate. Whatever the features may be, we can be sure that they will make Stardew Valley an even greater place to spend our leisure time.

    About Sunvale…

In our never ending quest to get you the scoop on the cute games we love (or are soon to love), we have discovered a new gem that we would like to share! Sunvale is described by the developer, Martin Klocker, as being in the same league as our other beloved farming favorites (Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Terraria), but with new and unique features to enrich and expand on this rising genre.

With what we were able to find from the sources available, we can tell that adorable title will be an exciting addition to the Farming SIM world. With lots of accessories for both home and character, the attractive art style truly makes the game stand out among its brethren. Also, the ability to place cosmetic items in your home without the burden of grid system is a major bonus in the eyes of this free-spirited gamer!

    Looking forward!

With these cool features, and countless more to come, we will be sure to keep an eye Sunvale. It is currently in development for PC, but there is mention of other platforms in the future. For more information on Sunvale, feel free to pop over to their dev page, or check them out on Discord, Facebook and Twitter. If you would like to become a supporter of Sunvale, they also have a Patreon.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo and Bandai Namco announced that Japan will be getting an exciting crossover game. The game will ‘combine’ the farming simulation Story of Seasons franchise with popular kids anime franchise Doraemon. The game will be entitled Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari, or Doraemon: Nobita’s Story of Seasons.

Playing as a young boy named Nobita (who also features in Doraemon’s orginal manga and anime), the Story of Seasons aspect of the game sees players growing crops, raising animals, and improving their farm, which is located in a town called Shizen Town. The game also features the Harvest Goddess and other regular characters from the Story of Seasons Franchise, as well as Doraemon and his friends.

The Doraemon part of the game utilizes the tools of Doraemon (who is a robotic blue cat) when growing crops. Using his tools, you can enlarge and even mutate crops.

As is typical in Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon games, Doraemon: Nobita’s Story of Seasons has regular town events that players can partake in. At these events, Doraemon can use the aforementioned tools to lend a hand.

Another feature of the game shared with the Story of Seasons franchise is the ability to make friends with gifts. By giving villagers items that they like, Nobita can improve his relationships with them.

Although there isn’t a set release date, the game is expected to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in Japan later this year. With Story of Seasons games selling well in Japan, and Doraemon being an extremely popular anime series there, it is expected that the crossover game will sell like hot cakes.

Whilst Doraemon is less notorious in the West, we can still hope that this adorable looking game will eventually get localized!

The solo developer of Stardew Valley (ConcernedApe) has previously announced that the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will also get a multiplayer update eventually. The developer has confirmed in tweets and updates that the co-op will not be cross-platform. As disappointing as this is for fans to hear, the decision is understandable.

Whilst an exact date hasn’t been given, the game’s publisher (Chucklefish) has recently confirmed that Stardew Valley for Switch will be next to receive the Multiplayer update. Having been submitted for final approval, it is expected that the update will be available either by the end of the year or in early 2019.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he solo developer of Stardew Valley (Eric Barone of ConcernedApe) has recently made an exciting announcement. Stardew Valley will soon be available on iOS and Android! The game will be coming to iOS first, and will be released on the app store (where it can be pre-ordered) on the 24th October. The mobile version of the game is being overseen by London-based studio The Secret Police.

    About Stardew Valley:

Stardew Valley is a Harvest Moon-reminiscent RPG farming simulation with pixel graphics. Developed by ConcernedApe and published by Chucklefish, the game was very well received. It currently holds a 10/10 rating on Steam where it also has ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews.

Some of the game’s features include:
    • Raising animals, growing crops and improving your farm
    • Improving skills in 5 different areas (farming, mining, combat, fishing, and foraging)
    • A variety of complex characters, places, enigmas, and secrets to discover
    • Diversity in character customization and dating
    • Over two hours of original music.
The game is already available to play on a wide variety of platforms including:
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Linux
    • Mac OS
    • PS4
    • Xbox One
    • Nintendo Switch
    • PS Vita

    About Stardew Valley for mobile:

Unfortunately, online multiplayer farming will not be available on iOS and Android. The port will, however, include all of the single player content from the recent 1.3 PC update.

The mobile versions have been optimized for touch screens, and contain a new UI, new controls, and a new menu system. Additionally, upon the game’s launch, players will be able to transfer their PC save data to iOS via iTunes.

Priced at $7.99 and with no in-app purchase options, the port is seemingly good value for money.

Eric Barone has said that the Android version of the game is nearly complete. He has also reassured gamers that work on multiplayer updates for consoles will be unaffected. This is because the console updates are being handled by teams separate from those working on the mobile versions.

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]icontier is an upcoming pixel art-stylized miniscape RPG. The game’s retro 2D art style, alongside its life simulation elements, make it comparable to Stardew Valley and the original Harvest Moon games.

Picontier is designed by indie label SKIPMORE, who are best known for their Fairune and Drancia series titles. It is being published by Flyhigh Works Co., a company established in 2011 that specializes in localizing Japanese, English and Chinese titles.

It has recently been announced that the PC version of the game will be released via Steam this winter. Whilst FlyHigh works did not mention other platforms in their recent broadcast, the game has previously been announced for PS4, Switch, and 3DS.

    About:

Picontier is a mini RPG game that allows players to enjoy slow-living on a whimsical island after being washed ashore. Its life simulation elements include farming, crafting, fishing, and mining. Like Stardew Valley, the game also appeals to the more adventurous of gamers by offering excitement. In this instance, players can journey to the dungeons to fight monsters. Additionally, the game contains a charming story and a variety of strange island creatures to communicate with. The game therefore seems to tick all the boxes where depth is concerned.
