The Overcooked Switch Physical Special Edition finally received a release date. Team 17 announced that it is currently aiming to release the physical version of the game on February 13th, 2018. The cartridge will be released in North America and Europe. Furthermore Team 17 also stated that Worms W.M.D and Yoku’s Island Express will be offered in retail stores for the Nintendo Switch as well.

The game comes with a total of 14 extra levels, on top of the original 30. Beyond new stages, the game will also feature new recipes, mechanics and event some new equipment! The Overcooked Switch version will bundle all of this with the original content in one game.

Overcooked is a co-operative cooking game for 1-4 players. Working together these brave chefs must prepare, cook and serve up each order before the baying customers storm out in a rage. As the tension mounts more and more obstacles will stand in your way: from fire and rats to fireballs, The Great and Malevolent Ever-Peckish and much much more. Your culinary adventure will take you to increasingly bizarre and exotic locations, forcing you to scream and argue your way through a perilous gourmet gauntlet. Only a well-oiled team will come out on top, proving once and for all that if you can’t stand the heat, you should get out the kitchen!

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]eam17 and developer Sold Out have announced a partnership. The two sides are working together, in order to bring games like Overcooked, W.M.D, Yoku’s Island Express and Worms to Switch in physical form. Now GamesIndustry spoke with Garry Williams, the CEO of Sold Out. Interestingly an Overcooked Switch Physical Release is now highly possible in the very near future. Many fans of the game have asked for a cartridge version of the popular cooking game.

Williams has also mentioned that selling retail games on Switch can be a challenge. Check out parts of his interview below.

“There are many companies who have managed to earn really good revenues through Nintendo hardware sales to consumers. When I worked for Imagineer in Japan we made some very welcome revenues making Sim City SNES, many of us also did well on GameCube, Wii and DS. The opportunities are there. Nintendo does not exclude you, it just asks you to ‘up your game’. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.”

“The boxed retail model is a tough model on Switch so you need to feel pretty certain your title works before entering the market. Luckily for us, the Team17 Switch releases are tried, tested and proven on the Nintendo decks. Overcooked, for example, is a double BAFTA-winning title and already successful on the Nintendo format.”

“Sold Out is not in the business of ‘vanity publishing’. If we were not certain we could generate profits, we would not enter the Switch boxed retail market. Nintendo simply delivers the platform for success and it is up to third-party publishers to decide how best to either get on board or to watch the sales juggernaut leave the depot.”

Marvin’s Mittens isn’t strictly Christmas themed, but it perfectly captures the wonder and joy of playing in the snow! This game is a 2D platformer that captures the nostalgia of a childhood spent playing in the snow. Explore the world, and collect magic snowflakes in a hand-drawn environment.

Explore a soothing world free of enemies and danger as you run around Marvin’s Mittens on a joyous adventure. Use your sled to race across snowy landscapes until Mom calls you back home. Collecting snowflakes will let you increase your jump height, allowing you to access more and more as you progress. Find shortcuts to new areas, and revisit old levels to discover what you couldn’t access before. Even sneak up on wildlife to record them in your journal.

Ultimately, you’ll learn the secrets of snow elf magic and uncover the mystery of your missing mitten while you explore!

    Release Date

This charming game is fairly old, actually, but I dug it up because of its perfect winter-themed fun. You can find Marvin’s Mittens on Steam!

I personally enjoy the winter DLC from Overcooked 2 for a little chilly fun!

Yaruul’s family inn has been stolen by the evil wizard landlord, Colin. You must reclaim the family’s legacy by managing the inn solo or with your friends. Brew potions, dispel curses, catch fish, cook food, and fight negative influences. Prove you’re a better innkeeper than the evil wizard by making the inn a success! Innchanted is a heartfelt and hectic adventure set in a fantasy universe inspired by Indigenous Australian tales.

    The Levels

Pick from four different, adorable playable characters and cooperate with your team or even an AI companion to run this magic inn. Innchanted’s AI can be assigned to serve customers, refill potion stations, or defend against thieves. Serving customers includes cooking meat or dispensing potions, too. They’re quite useful for filling in when you’re playing solo or even with a second person. The AI is a little slow moving, as they can’t dash like player characters can, but that only adds a little bit of challenge without overwhelming you, I think.

Plus, the layout changes every day, so you never know what obstacles you’ll face! You’ll encounter different challenges across Innchanted’s 50+ unique levels while serving patrons. One level may be wide open and easy to navigate, while the next has counters that move every so often meaning the level layout changes while you play. And don’t forget about the thieving birds waiting in the tree outside for the opportunity to take off with a slab of meat. Don’t leave your items unattended for too long!

    The Inn

Use your hard-earned shells to upgrade your inn. Make grills cook faster. Increase your team’s efficiency. Even unlock decorations to beautify your inn. From fun wall flags to pretty rugs, you’ll find over 60 decorative items in Innchanted to beautify your inn to give it that personal touch. And at night, take time to unwind, speak with other characters, make important choices that will affect your next day, and practice new mechanics you’ve learned.

    Final Thoughts

Innchanted is a challenging, but fun adventure akin to Overcooked. It’s perfect for playing with friends! It doesn’t present the same frenetic, frantic player experience as Overcooked, though. It feels a little more chill and laid back, while still being silly and fun. It’s a cute little game that I’d recommend to anyone for some fun, though.

    I give Innchanted a:

You can find this fun co-op game on Steam now!
