Our favorite mischievous goose has now sold more than 1 million copies of its game, Untitled Goose Game.

In a recent Tweet from the developers, it was revealed that Untitled Goose Game has now sold more than one million copies. For those not too familiar with the indie world, that is a pretty darn big deal. But, given the hilariously whimsical nature of the game, and the rate at which it became popular, I can hardly say this comes as a surprise.

In case you have been living under a rock, Untitled Goose Game is a small open world sim game where you get to play as a goose. Your sole mission is to disrupt the natural order of the world around you, for the general purpose of being a nuisance. The gameplay is as fun as the game itself is hilarious.

It was announced last week that Untitled Goose Game was coming to the PS4 and Xbox One on December 17th, 2019. Well now that day has come and with it, a new free Dynamic Theme created by Truant Pixel (in collaboration with House House and Panic) on The PlayStation Store here.

This hilarious new theme for the PS4 features the horrible goose on top of a large pile of stolen objects stacked in a pond. It also comes with some background sound effects and some honking text! Every now and again when you look up to see what that mischievous goose is up to, you can find it with things in its mouth such as keys, a fork, a rose, etc. It will also run across your screen so keep an eye on that foul fowl!

Of course, this makes me extremely jealous of the PS4 as I played my copy on the Nintendo Switch. Who wouldn’t want to be greeted by this marvelous display of shenanigans every time they turn their console on? I’d love for the Nintendo Switch to have avatars, dynamic themes, or other such free content for my home screen! For now, I’m still going to download this theme for my PS4.

I’m also still lamenting the fact that I can’t have Untitled Beaker Game. We can, however, have the best socks money can buy from the official website of Untitled Goose Game which you can check out here as a great gift for the holidays!

This stealth game with a simple premise and slapstick humor created by House House, has recently become an internet sensation, memes and all. I have been following along Untitled Goose Game’s journey since 2017 and have been preparing myself to honk at, annoy, and steal from all of the townspeople. Thanks to the developers, I was able to play a copy on the Nintendo Switch and I was not disappointed.

The idea for the game started out as a joke and has evolved from there. It seems that everyone can relate with similar stories of their encounters with unpredictable geese. They don’t seem too menacing, but approach one the wrong way and expect to be chased. There’s just something comical about how they waddle and House House has captured the goose’s movements and actions quite realistically.

You’re a Mischievous Goose, Not A Malicious Goose

Even though the goose’s antics never get too out of hand, some people were hesitant on being horrible to lovely people minding their own business. However, to a certain extent, the game allows you do decide on how to accomplish goals, via a to-do list, so you get to project some of your own personality into the goose. The classical background music also cleverly reacts to your steps and antics which made me feel encouraged to follow through with my plans. Well, not so much plans as let’s just throw everything everywhere and see what happens.

Every character is faceless and there is no dialogue but they’re still so emotive. They’re all just living out their daily routines until you come by and give them a hard time. I actually enjoyed returning to the same areas again and seeing the townspeople putting their items back in their place and fixing things I might have broken. This way I don’t feel as guilty because nothing you do is permanent. No harm, no fowl. It also allows for you to do things over and over again, like a true sandbox game.

You can and should purchase Untitled Goose Game on the Nintendo Switch here, or on Epic Games Store here.
