The Nintendo 3DS is still alive, and developers as well as Nintendo want us to know that. One of the biggest releases on the aged handheld device is now available in Europe, and Yo-kai Watch 3 will come to the west in early 2019. The popular franchise developed by Level-5 will take the player on a new journey through two parallel stories.

Yo-kai Watch 3 was previously released in Japan and is now available in Europe as well. Fans in the west, specifically North America have to wait until February 8th, 2019. It is interesting to note that Level-5 has combined all three version of the series into one game. This means that players who will purchase Yo-kai Watch 3 in the U.S will receive essentially 3 games.

To tie fans over until the release of the game, Level-5 released a brand new trailer for the game today. Check it out below!

    About Yo-kai Watch 3

More Yo-kai, more mysteries! ’Merican Yo-kai have made their way to YO-KAI WATCH 3 and they’re rootin’ tootin’ troublemakers. Speaking of troublemakers, in BBQ, zombies rise from their graves and Nate must free the town during Zombie Night. If you’re too afraid of zombies, you can always find treasure by exploring randomly generated dungeons and discover the truth about the mysterious ruins hidden all across the continent with the Yo-kai Blasters T group.

    • Meet Hailey Anne and Usapyon as they solve cases as Yo-kai detectives in Springdale
    • Explore the American-inspired location, BBQ, where ’Merican Yo-kai run rampant
    • Battle all-new bosses, meet over 600 Yo-kai, and use a new 3×3 grid battle system to strategically dish out attacks
    • In BBQ, go on a rafting adventure, try out a new Crank-a-kai, and interact with new ‘Merican Yo-kai
    • Train up your very own Nyan, a cat like Yo-kai, in Build-a-Nyan
    • Bonk zombies on the head, in an all-new mode, Zombie Night—it’s an invasion!
    • Link with versions of YO-KAI WATCH™ 2 and YO-KAI WATCH ™ BLASTERS to earn special Yo-kai
    • Discover treasure as part of the Yo-kai Blasters T group and make your way through randomly generated dungeons

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]rofessor Layton And The Curious Village was initially released by Level-5 for Nintendo DS in Japan in 2007. Fast forward to 11 years later, and Layton fans can play a remastered HD version of the enigmatic game on either iOS or Android.

The game features the gentlemanly Professor Hershel Layton, a puzzle-loving archaeologist, and his young assistant Luke Triton, an easily nettled boy with a huge appetite and an ability to talk to animals.

The first game has the duo searching on behalf of a wealthy widow for an elusive artefact supposedly hidden by her late husband, the Baron. Whoever finds the artefact will inherit the Baron’s immense wealth.

With a beautiful animation style synonymous of Level-5, captivating music and plenty of suspense and emotion, the game remains entertaining despite its age, hence why a remake was made.

The trailer for the polished puzzle game can be watched below.

Bit of a tongue-twister eh? Are you forever skint like myself? Or are you a thrifty person who feels guilty forking out on video games? Never fear, for the Steam summer sale is here! Lasting until the 5th July, you can now nab those games you’ve been wistfully browsing through and adding to your Steam wishlist. Here are 6 discounted great games that you should totally grab whilst they’re on offer.

    1) Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Being a Level-5 BANDAI NAMCO game, this sequel is naturally of excellent quality, which unfortunately is reflected in its price. It’s original price of £49.99 was too steep for me to even consider. However, it’s current sale price of £29.99 (40% discount) makes it very tempting.

    2) The Witness

Currently discounted by 70% (£29.99 to £8.99), this game is hands-down a bargain. However, there’s also a bundle available on sale, which includes The Witness + Braid for just £9.82. Their combined cost would be £40.98 when purchased individually at their normal price. ????

    3) South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of Truth is very highly regarded on Steam. It’s one of those games you’re always tempted by, but can’t justify forking out for. Well now you can! It is currently reduced by 75% from £26.99 to £6.74.

A bundle containing South Park: The Stick of Truth + South Park: The fractured but whole is also on sale. The bundle is massively discounted by 73% from £76.98 to £20.91! ????

    4) Broken Age

This beautiful game (made by indie developers Double Fine) is still adored 4 years after its release. If you haven’t already had the opportunity to play it, you can currently nab it for just £2.99, which is an 80% reduction from it’s usual price of £14.99!

(Pssst! You can also get the Double Fine bundle, which contains 18 items, for 90% off. That’s £145.83 down to £15.01!) ????

    5) Undertale

One of the most loved games of 2015, you probably already own this charming and interactive pixel-graphic game. If by the off chance you don’t, you can currently get it at half-price for only £3.49.

    6) Firewatch

Firewatch is repeatedly praised for its narrative and interactivity. If you want to play a unique, story-rich game that bridges the gap between games and digital writing, you’re in luck. Firewatch is currently discounted by 75% from £14.99 to £3.74

If none of these games tickle your fancy, there are plenty more bargains to choose from in the Steam Summer Sale.

Just remember to get them before the 5th July!

    Happy gaming!

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]evel-5 already confirmed a Yo-Kai Watch 4 for Switch back in April, with a game trailer set to be released on the 23rd June. However, Yo-Kai Watch fans will be surprised (but delighted) to hear that there will also be a Yo-Kai Watch 5. To celebrate the successful franchise’s fifth birthday, a Yo-Kai Watch 5th Anniversary event will take place on June 27th. More information about the game will be revealed in a special live YouTube broadcast at 12:00 JST (on the 27th June).

Level-5 have announced that ‘basically’ all of their future main titles are coming to Switch. Their mission being to transition what they have created for the 3DS to the Switch. This means that Yo-Kai Watch 5 will almost definitely be released for Switch, in addition to the confirmed Yo-Kai Watch 4 and Layton’s Mystery Journey port (which includes extra DX). We’re also hopeful that The Snack World, and Inazuma Eleven: Balance of Ares will get a western release, and that Ni No Kuni II could get a port also.

Professor Layton fans rejoice! Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy is making its way to Switch.

Many fans of the Professor Layton series have been ‘puzzling’ over whether the popular franchise would be excluded from the Switch. But recently, Level 5 announced that last year’s popular puzzle game Layton’s Mystery Journey will also be released on Nintendo Switch.

The game is set to be released in Japan on August 9th.

Whilst there is no confirmation of a release for the West, it’s likely there will be one, and that it will be soon. Layton’s Mystery Journey was released for 3DS in Japan on July 20th 2017.  Shortly after, on the October 6th 2017, the game was released worldwide.

    About

The notorious Professor Layton is absent in this game. Layton’s Mystery Journey stars the Professor’s previously unmentioned daughter Katrielle as the Protagonist. Katrielle has undoubtedly inherited her father’s intelligence, but sometimes has people dubious due to her ‘gut feelings’. She is also a little more outspoken and disorganised than her gentlemanly father.

The Professor has been missing for quite some time, and Katrielle is starting to become worried. Nevertheless, she decides continue her father’s legacy and sets up the Layton Detective Agency. Alongside her talking dog (Sherl), her infatuated assistant (Ernest Greeves), and her rival (Emiliana Perfetti) she tackles various difficult cases presented to her by fellow Londoners. The mysteries are often odd, with unexpected culprits, which makes the game unpredictable and interesting.

The game is similar to previous games in the series due to the ability to find and solve puzzles, explore surroundings, collect items, and play minigames. It differs in that instead of having one main storyline with chapters, the game is split into 12 different cases with an overarching theme. Despite scoring slightly lower on Metacritic than other Layton games, the game still holds a respectable rating of 72/100. Having played the 3DS version myself, I would definitely recommend it to Layton fans, Puzzle game fans and Level-5 fans.

You can read more about the game here.
