[dropcap]T[/dropcap]oday president of Nintendo North America broken the silence on the Animal Crossing franchise. Many fans hoped to see some news about Animal Crossing for smartphones or on Nintendo Switch during the most recent E3 in Los Angeles. However, fans were disappointed as the franchise was a no show at this years games convention.

Luckily Reggie has provided some more details about the highly anticipated mobile game. In the interview he stated that Nintendo still plans to release the game this year, with more information to come very soon. He further explains that the Animal Crossing Mobile game will broaden the franchise, similar to Pokemon Go, Fire Emblem and Mario run on iOS and Android. We expect Animal Crossing Mobile will receive a dedicated Nintendo Direct, in which the big N will provide more details about the gameplay.

So, specifically now, Animal CrossingAnimal Crossing development continues quite strongly, the teams are very excited about what they have. It’s an application that is going to launch this year, as we’ve committed. And we’ll be sharing more information in due course. We believe, just as we’ve seen with Pokémon Go, just as we’ve seen with Super Mario RunFire Emblem Heroes, we believe that the application will help broaden the user base for Animal Crossing, and it’s going to end up having a positive impact on our dedicated video game business of Animal Crossing.

Interestingly Reggie also talked about Snipperclips, a game we very much enjoyed on Nintendo Switch. He said that Nintendo will continue doing smaller, and cute multiplayer games like this adorable paper cutting game. If you want to catch up on Snipperclips we recommend you read our Snipperclips: Cut it Out Together review. You can watch part of the interview with Reggie Fils-Aime below.
