There has been a lot of confusion whether or not you can somehow have more than one island per console in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Lets take a look at the known facts.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is almost upon us and fans are just excited to get their hands on the first new mainline Animal Crossing game in nearly eight years.
Animal Crossing New Horizons allows for only one island per console
There has been plenty of confusion around how many islands you can actually have on the same Nintendo Switch system. The answer is – One island per console.
It does not matter if you own multiple copies of the game nor does it matter if you own a digital and physical version. Nintendo only allows one island per console.
Animal Crossing New Horizons Save Game Recovery
In addition to Animal Crossing New Horizons only fearing one island per system there has been a few questions about backing up save games. Currently cloud saves for New Horizons are not available at launch.
However, Nintendo promised that there would be a post-launch update that allows to recover your save game in case you loose your Nintendo Switch or if it breaks.
It is clear that Nintendo strives to create an Animal Crossing experience where you can not simply exploit the game by having multiple islands or sharing save games across multiple consoles.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is a little more than a month away and Nintendo shared some details on how save data will work in the game.
The Cloud Save Concern
According to a statement Nintendo made, Animal Crossing New Horizons will not support cloud saves. This feature is especially important when you loose or break your Nintendo Switch in which case your save game would be lost.
There is currently also no way to export your Animal Crossing New Horizons save game from your Switch, which makes it difficult to keep a backup in case something was to happen to your console.
Nintendo Listens to Fans
Fans around the world have voiced their concerns about not being able to create a backup of save files. In a recent press release Nintendo mentioned they are currently looking into creating a feature that will allow save games to be backed up in case you loose or break your Nintendo Switch.
This game does not support Nintendo Switch Online Cloud Saves, but we are currently looking into a customized method for backing save data up that will be specific to this game in the event that your Nintendo Switch is damaged or lost. This function will be limited to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The timing of implementation is undecided and will be announced as soon as it is finalized.
NintendoNo Time Travel in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
It is unclear why Nintendo choose to go this road but it appears that the company wants players to enjoy the game as authentic as possible. Only one island is allowed per console and rumors suggested that Nintendo wants to minimize or even eliminate the possibility of Time Travel.
Time travel allows a player to advance faster in the game and enjoy events that are not yet to happen for months for others who don’t chose to alter time. Nintendo also heavily promotes the Animal Crossing New Horizons multiplayer that now allows 8 players to play together.
Bye, Bye Resetti.. You will be missed!
Online play can be a major spoiler for players who don’t choose to time travel and end up on someones island that is months ahead of the actual time. Maybe this is Nintendo trying to discourage players from time traveling – since Resetti is not part of New Horizons either?

Animal Crossing New Horizons is less than 3 months away at this point and the only question remaining is – will there be a Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing New Horizons Edition?
I placed my pre-order for a physical copy of New Horizons even though I am still hoping for a midnight release at my local Gamestop to pick up a copy right away – one to open and one to keep as collectible item.
Will there be an Animal Crossing Switch Edition?
One question just keep coming to my mind – will there be an Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch like the ones we received for the Nintendo 3DS? I know that many Nintendo Switch consoles will become an exclusive Animal Crossing machine for at least some time, wouldn’t it be nice to translate the beautiful AC art style to a Switch?
Nintendo has not mentioned whether there will be one or not – but given the history it seems that at some point we might be getting a special edition. At the risk of sounding picky I would much prefer a Nintendo Switch with detachable Joy-Con to be the Animal Crossing Switch rather than the new Switch lite. I enjoy the freedom of playing on the big screen, the bigger Switch screen itself and sharing joy-cons for random multiplayer matches anywhere!

Stardew Valley has been immensely popular and even though the game has been released more than 4 yeas ago it still has an extremely active and support community and a recent update introducing plenty of new features and content!
Made by only one person, you may know him as ConcernedApe or Eric – Stardew Valley has been one of the most popular indie games ever created. According to the official Stardew Valley press page the game is celebrating a major milestone of over 10 million copies sold worldwide.
10 Million Copies Sold!
To put this number into perspective some AAA games do not sell this many copies and games like Animal Crossing New Leaf sold approximately 17 million copies since its release more than 7 years ago.

There has been a lot of conversations around an Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch and Nintendo is suspiciously quiet about the topic.
The desire for an Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch has been growing by the minute. Many fans of the series have come up with designs on what such console might look like others have purchased decals to decorate their Switch system. However everyone is just wanting Nintendo to announce a real Animal Crossing themed Switch system!
Animal Crossing 3DS consoles
Let’s take a look at the 3DS special editions, it sure wouldn’t be anything out of the norm to receive an AC themed Switch. The Nintendo 3DS has received multiple special edition consoles and all of them are just super adorable!
The first Animal Crossing themed 3DS featured the popular but now somewhat aged “popart” and was announced on October 2nd and released just a month later on November 8th.
The Happy Home Designer themed 3DS XL featured a similar design and was announced on May 31st, 2015 and released nearly two months later on July 30th, 2015.
But Happy Home Designer didn’t just receive one special edition, it received another one which was the new 3DS with changeable faceplates but of course the faceplates were Animal Crossing themed! It was announced on September 1st, 2015 and released the same month on September 25th
Arguably one of the most beautiful iteration of any Animal Crossing themed 3DS was this beauty. It was announced on July 3rd and available for purchase on July 20th ( Europe ).
Animal Crossing Switch Themed Console in time for the Holidays?
There are roughly 60 Days left ( at the time of writing this article ) until New Horizons releases, which means we are currently in the window where Nintendo could announce a themed console based on past behavior.
Nintendo recently started advertising for New Horizons in Walmart stores featuring the Nintendo Switch Lite at the same time. This could either mean nothing or it could mean that Nintendo focuses on selling and advertising the Switch Lite in conjunction with AC before introducing an Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch later this year, perhaps for the Holiday season?
After all Animal Crossing New Horizons is sure to be a major hit given the current level of excitement for the game, the big N might just sell the game and keep the themed Switch as an ace up their sleeves for later on.
A major reason for the big N not to release an Animal Crossing Special Edition Switch is that the company could potentially not gain much from it. Fans will purchase the game regardless if there is a special edition or not – and might even upgrade to a new AC Switch ones announced later on.
Either way, I personally would love an Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch and truly hope that Nintendo chooses to announce a themed AC Switch with detachable Joy-Cons, so the game can be enjoyed on the TV as well!
