[dropcap]S[/dropcap]quare Enix has recently announced the end of the services for Dragon Quest X on Wii in the very near future. The publisher has now said that owners of the Wii version of Dragon Quest X will receive access to a free upgrade to the Nintendo Switch version of the video game.

Switch owners will be able to play the game for free on the Switch if they have purchased the game on the Wii before. Once Dragon Quest X is going to be patched to the latest version 4.0 later this fall, services for the Wii of the vide game will be discontinued. Wii U owners will not be affected by this change. While this may upset many of the Dragon Quest X players on the Wii, given the fanbase is still going strong, it is a kind move of Square Enix to provide a download code for the Switch version to players of the Wii version.

Square Enix also stated that the free version will only come in the form of a download code, if you prefer a cartridge version of the game, you would have to purchase the game again. Once the release of the Switch game comes closer, Square Enix will provide more information on the upgrade program.
