It looks like GameInformer got the exclusive on some pretty major details for Pokemon Sword & Shield.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Interview

In an exclusive interview with some of the movers and shakers at Game Freak, some pretty juicy details were divulged to the public about Pokemon Sword and Shield. Straight from the mouths of those that created it, we get to learn much as we can about this upcoming epic RPG!

    Autosaves

Yup, autosave in Pokemon. Can you believe it? How many hours could have been saved in the past…anyway. I always enjoyed the challenge of having to revert to my most previous hard save, no matter how frustrating. But that is one persons opinion.

It appears that the new autosave feature will only occur in the wild area, so it is limited somewhat. It seems that this may be one of those features introduced to give newcomers to the series a bit of an easier time. Luckily, the autosave feature will be something that you can turn off, giving that more classic feel to the game.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Interview

    Removed Pokemon will return.

Many people were upset by the fact that this installment in the Pokemon series won’t feature the entire line-up of monsters from previous games. Doesn’t seem right to leave any of them out, as each one is sure to be someones favorite. But fear not! The Pokemon that do not make it into Sword & Shield will come back in later installments.

    Exp. Share is now automatic.

That handy little item (that some choose not to use) for sharing exp. amongst your Pokemon, Exp. Share, will not be available in S&S. Instead, the effect of that item is now an active thing throughout the game. It appears that all Pokemon in your party will be given equal experience throughout your journey. Yet another change for newcomers, it seems. One that I hope is also an option.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Interview

    No more HM’s

Looks like those super handy, yet always difficult to prescribe, HM move teachers are gone. Usually over-applied anyway, it will be interesting to see what mechanic replaces these seemingly important machines. They added a bit of intricacy to the games, so their absence should simplify things.

    Max Raid Battles

Max Raid Battles are basically the same as the raids found in Pokemon Go. You and your friends can join together to take down a big boss for a major reward. The difficulty of each encounter will be displayed through a star ranking system, the more stars, the higher the difficulty.

The latest Nintendo Direct gave us a look at the new cooking feature coming to Pokemon Sword and shield!

Our favorite games here at MPG always seem to include cooking to some degree or another. Now, Pokemon will be added to the list as Pokemon Sword and Shield is getting a cooking feature. The latest Nintendo Direct gave us a close look the new feature, and we are excited to see what changes this addition will bring to Pokemon Universe.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Cooking

    Curry is all the buzz!

Curry is quite the popular dish in the Galar Region, and we will get to know it fondly. Curry is variety of dishes originating in India that usually include ground turmeric, cumin, coriander, ginger, and fresh or dried chillies. Now we will get the chance to create our own curry recipes using the ingredients found throughout the game. This will include, but is not limited to, all those delicious berries we have found throughout the history of the Pokemon series. The cooking will all take place in the new Pokemon Camp, another featured revealed in yesterdays direct.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Cooking

We will also get to use such awesome foodie items as sausages, beans, pasta, bread and much more. The variety of ingredients have created such an expansive list of recipes that we will even be given a Curry Deck to log all the recipes that we have successfully created. To cook, you will use the motion control to fan the fire underneath your cauldron. This will cause your fire to heat up, expediting the cooking process.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Cooking

Much like the munchies in the previous titles, the food that you create can be shared with your Pokemon. In doing so, you and your Pokemon will receive special buffs, and your Pokemon will grow more fond of you for having shared a meal with them. The buffs that you receive depend on the taste rating of your food. So you will need to try out all the different recipes so you can find the right buffs for your particular set of Pokemon. It appears that we may also be able to share a meal with friends whenever they visit our camp.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Cooking

For more details on the cooking and other such items, check out our coverage of the latest Nintendo Direct, or you can go to the official Pokemon Website.

The latest Nintendo Direct revealed some pretty awesome new features from Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are the latest games in the mainline Pokemon game franchise, and are due to release on November 20th this year. We have been keeping up to date with all the details as they hit us. Just like with our last Direct, we have been given insight on some all new sweet features that we can expect in Sword & Shield.

    Character Customization

Pokemon Sword Pokemon Shield Character Customization

Pokemon Sword and Shield will allow each player the ability to customize the look of your entire character. From top to bottom, including shoes, gloves, backpacks and much more. You will also have the option to pick a unique hairstyle for your character, including changing the character. This level of character customization is something that has not been seen before in the Pokemon franchise, but is certainly a welcome addition. Even the facial features will be changeable in Sword and Shield.

    Pokemon Camp

Pokemon Camp Pokemon Sword & Shield

Another cool addition to the game is the inclusion of the all new Pokemon Camp. While out on your journey, you may find the need to stop and rest a while. What better place to do so than your own personal deployable Poke’Camp. You can pop-up a tent, and just kick it with your Pokemon for a while. It also allows your Pokemon to interact with each other. When playing multiplayer, you will even be able to visit your friends camps and interact with their Pokemon.

    Cooking Up Some Curry

Pokemon Sword & Shield Cooking Curry

While you are chilling at your the newly founded Pokemon Camp, you will also have the ability to cook up one of the most popular dishes in the Galar Region, Curry on Rice. You must use berries and other ingredients that you find to create the perfect dish. As you test out different ingredients, the recipes you discover will be logged into your Curry Decks. Can you make the best curry dish in the land? Only one way to find out!

    New Pokemon

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Polteageist

The Direct also gave us an in-depth look at a couple of the new Pokemon we will see in Sword & Shield. The first is Polteageist. His name is the combination of tea and Poltergeist, which is perfect considering it’s made of tea and is a ghost type Pokemon. It like to hide amongst tableware into hotels in such, presumably haunting the guests. It has a special ability called weak armor, and if you’re lucky it might even let you taste its tea…can’t help but wonder what that’d be like.

    Pokemon Sword & Shield Cramorant

The next new addition is Cramorant, a flying/water type Pokemon. When Cramorant uses Surf, it has the chance to emerge from the water with a fish in its mouth. If it is attacked while holding said fishy, then its special ability, Gulp Missle, is activated. This will send that fish flying at your opponent, giving you an extra attack without the cost of a turn.

September is here and with it comes the almost annual Nintendo Direct. The next Nintendo Direct is announced for September 4 and will feature games releasing in 2019. If you are waiting for more Animal Crossing New Horizons news this might not be the direct you were hoping for.

Nintendo promises a 40 minutes stream featuring games to be released before the holidays, with a focus on Pokemon Sword and Shield and Luigis Mansion 3. Of course there will also be some surprises that the big N has not mentioned yet. So make sure to tune in tomorrow September 4th, 3pm PT / 6pm ET. You can watch the Direct below!

In other Nintendo related news the Nintendo Switch Lite will be releasing on October 20th and is already up for pre-order in all 4 colors on Amazon. The Switch Lite features a lower price tag at $199 and is designed to be more sturdy and portable due to its smaller size factor and non removable joy-cons.

You can now get your hands on some official Galar Region Pokemon plushies thanks to the Sanei Bokei Company.

    Pokemon Sword and Shield Plushies

The release of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield is just around the corner, on November 20th this year. What better way to get ready than to start stocking up on Sword/Shield memorabilia. Nothing says I live and breathe Pokemon like super cute plushies. We now have access to the plushie form of the starter Pokemon from Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The starting line-up for Sword and Shield holds true to the classic hand-held Pokemon formula, all super adorable little monsters with the capacity to transform into world-altering beasts.

The three starters for Sword/Shield (for those that missed it, somehow) are Scorbunny, Grookey and Sobble. Scorbunny is a fire-type rabbit Pokemon with the ability to light fires under its feet. Grookey is an adorable little chimp-like grass Pokemon with the ability to actually force-grow the grass around it. That just leaves Sobble, and if you know anything about the Pokemon franchise, you are already aware that Sobble must be the water type option. Sobble is a cute little blue creature with the ability to blend into a watery environment.

If you would like to get your hands on some of the little cuties right now, you can do so pretty easily through the Sunyshore PokeMart! For all the details you might need regarding Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, be sure to check out myPotatoGames coverage of the title.

Latest Pokemon Sword/Shield reveal introduces Poke Jobs and form changing Pokemon.

There have been plenty of awesome updates lately about what to expect from the next installment in the Pokemon series. The more recent introduction of some new Pokemon being among them. Now the Pokemon Company has given us much more details in regards to some of the new features that we will see in Pokemon Sword/Shield, including new characters and monsters with unique abilities.

    Poke Jobs

Since always and forever, Pokemon have been super handy little creatures that have helped us accomplish wonders and achieve our grandest dreams. Now, our sometimes not-so-cuddly companions will have the ability to help us in new ways with Poke jobs. You will be able to task your calamitous critters with jobs from the Rotomi machine, a new device located throughout the the Galar region in all of the Pokemon Centers. These machines will not only give you access to the jobs (which will help you and your Pokemon grow), but you also be able to access your storage and even the Lotto-ID. Figuring out which Pokemon is best suited for each job will maximize the outcome of each task.

    Rotomi

    Form Changing Pokemon

Pokemon have always been able to change form. Until now, those changes were pretty much exclusive to Evolution. The latest iteration in the Pokemon series introduces a new type of Pokemon that has the ability to change its form without evolution. The change can be effected by certain items (like evolution) but can also come from the creatures very own abilities. Not only can these changes alter the appearance of the monsters, but can also change their abilities and moves type. Morpeko is a new monster with the ability to change form. It is a ravenous little cutie that changes into meanie any time it gets too hungry, like most of us.

    Galarian Forms

Some Pokemon in Sword/Shield will actually have forms that are specific to the region. Given that the game takes place in the Galar Region, these are obviously referred to as Galarian forms. These specific forms can not only be found just in Galar, but their evolutions can also only exist from the Galarian form of that Pokemon. Example: the new Obstagoon can only be obtained through the max evolution of the Galarian form of Zigzagoon. Otherwise, you will not be able to evolve past Linoone.

    Galarian Form

    Team Yell – New Rivals

Some new bad guys will also be coming to the Pokemon universe, and they look pretty hardcore. They are called Team Yell, and they have absolutely no trouble announcing their intentions. They are the new baddies and are here to hinder you in any way possible, much like the ne’er-do-well’s of every other title in the series. Always putting up a lackluster front to keep you from reaching the opponents that actually matter, the Gym Leaders and other close heavy trainers.

The release of the brand new Pokemon title will come with some brand new Pokemon.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will be released this year on November 15th, and you can find out plenty of information about it by clicking here. Right now, we would like to discuss the topic of the all new Pokemon that will be joining the adventure when the game drops. Each new Pokemon title tends to come with its own array of new monsters, and Sword & Shield are no different. We now have some pretty in-depth details about what these new monsters will really be like.

    Alcremie

Having a name that is also a play on words is pretty much the basis for all Pokemon. Apparently a mix between alchemy and creme, we expect this ultra-cute creature will have some pretty tasty abilities. Alcremie totally has the ability to produce creme, which it can use in the pastry business, or to blind foes and bail. The creme is also super potent in its soothing affect, causing foes to lose the will to battle. That sure is some “heavy” creme. Alcremie will have a Gigantamax version, making it more powerful and even creamier!

    Yamper

Yamper is an adorable little pupper Pokemon with same tendencies as its real-life counterpart. Yamper is easily distracted and loves to chase everything that moves! Yampers ability is one that is new to the series. Ball Catch allows Yamper to catch a Pokeball that missed its target, as long as Yamper isn’t holding an item. Yamper also has the ability to create electricity as it moves, so he looks super charged up as he chases whatever is around.

    Rolycoly

Rolcoly is definitely one of the most useful rock Pokemon. It can easily guide the way through caves with the light that illuminates from its eye. The coal that its body produces is often used in helpful ways. Its new ability, Steam Engine, will drastically increase its speed if its attacked by a fire or water move. This is one stone cold Pokemon that every spelunker needs.

    Duraludon

Duraludon is made of a very light alloy, which gives him the ability to move quickly and precisely. This alloy unfortunately does have the weakness of being extra susceptible to rust, however. Duraludon is a mountain dwelling creature, and uses its two unique arms to grind up mountains for food. Certainly a formidable foe that will be worth catching.
