[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ey! Pikmin is the latest installment in the beloved Pikmin series. The game is set to release this summer on July 28th on Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo recently released the first gameplay trailer. Today Famitsu revealed some more Hey! Pikmin Features.

Hey! Pikmin Features and Abilities

– Yellow: Can flight very high, is immune against electricity and never gets paralyzed.
– Red: Is very strong against fire.
– Blue: Is very useful for underwater exploration, strong with water as well.
– Winged: Has the ability to fly
– Rock: Can destroy any hard object in the environment.

Olimar is still the leader in Hey! Pikmin. His rocket was hit by a big meteorite warm while he was on the way back home. The spaceship fell towards a certain planet where he meets Pikmin. On his journey he will have to collect 30,000 kilas in order to fuel his rocket to escape and return home.

The game features eight different areas to explore. Each of these areas has four levels ( also known as blocks ). There are plenty of hidden levels as well. Once you clear a level ( block ) a new one is unlocked.

Hey! Pikmin also features Amiibo support. The new Pikmin Amiibo is planned to be released at the same time as the game on July 28th. Scanning the new Amiibo will let the player call Pikmin at anytime.

The controls in Hey! Pikmin are a lot different. They make use of everything the 3DS has to offer, including the microphone, and the touchscreen of course. Touching the whistle button will call Pikmin. You may press the jetpack button to hover. Touching anywhere else on the bottom screen will let you throw Pikmin to a specific location.

Thorwing Pikmin will help defeat enemies, as well as solving puzzles and winning treasures. One of the examples given for the treasures was the Harmonic Monica, that is worth a whopping 400 kilas ( The in-game currency in Pikmin ). Check out some more details and gameplay footage right here.
