It is likely painfully obvious that MyPotatoGames adores Animal Crossing. Additionally, as a website that provides wholesome video game news, it seemed imperative to create the following article. An article that is a crossover between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and various games which get a thumbs up from MPG.

It is true that we have featured some video game design ID codes in previous articles. However, this crossover article features a huge variety of some seriously cool video game-themed Animal Crossing: New Horizons designs that you can use in the game.

How To Obtain Custom Designs Using ID Codes

Getting the custom designs app on your NookPhone will allow you to create your own designs and to scan QR codes created by others into your game. However, in regards to clothing with QR codes, you will only be able to place tiles, or wear designs as tank tops. However, you can use Nook Miles to purchase the Pro Design upgrade. The upgrade can be purchased from the Nook Stop terminal at Residents Services for a reasonable 800 Nook Miles.

This will allow you to create different items of clothing as ‘Pro Designs’. There are various types of clothing you can then choose from. Examples include balloon-hem dresses, hoodies, sweaters, coats and more. You can also scan QR codes of Pro Designs from New Leaf.

However, to do this, you need to unlock the Able Sisters clothing shop on your island. In New Horizons, the Able Sisters don’t just sell clothing. The prickly pair have a curious kiosk located at the back of their store. Here, you can save and share designs made in Animal Crossing: New Horizons via Creator ID codes, or Individual Design ID codes.

Providing you have a Switch Online Membership, (and have purchased the Pro Design upgrade), you can use this feature. And despite the game being just a few months old, there are already an astounding number of awesome fanmade designs via the kiosk’s portal. Here are just a few of the best gaming-themed ones:

    Indie Video Game Design Codes:

    Mario Video Game Design Codes:

    Zelda Video Game Design Codes:

    Pokémon Video Game Design Codes:

Animal Crossing Video Game Design Codes:

    Other Video Game Design Codes:

And as the top potato of MyPotatoGames, Henry naturally had to have his very own t shirt as well 😆🥔

If you enjoyed this article, why not check out some awesome Pop Culture Design ID codes for New Horizons here.

It was recently announced that many Studio Ghibli movies would be making their way to Netflix in many countries worldwide. Naturally, US Ghibli fans felt rather disappointed upon learning that the US would not be receiving the popular anime movies on Netflix. So whether you’re celebrating this news, or are looking for something to fill the totoro-sized void inside, here are five fantastic video games that Ghibli fans will enjoy.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is an anime adventure RPG developed by Level-5 and published by Bandai Namco.

The game’s animated sequences were produced by Studio Ghibli

The game is a remastered version of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The original game was initially released in Japan for PlayStation 3 in November 2011. It was then later released worldwide in early 2013.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered was released on September 20th, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows and Nintendo Switch.

The game follows young Oliver who is on a quest to bring back his mother, who died shortly after saving him from drowning.

The remastered version contains the same captivating story, dynamic combat, quests, secrets and variety of creatures and places to explore. However, with the bonus of improved graphics and performance.

The charming anime RPG has received positive reviews, including a 9/10 rating on Steam and an 86% rating on Metacritic.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kindom

No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is an anime adventure RPG developed by Level-5 and published by Bandai Namco. The game is a sequel to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

In the game, the player follows young king Evan on a quest to found a new kingdom. Accompanied by some newly made friends, the king attempts to save his people from a terrible evil.

Ni no Kuni II features RPG elements and dozens of creatures to battle, or befriend. The game also has hundreds of locations for the players to explore. Additionally, the game contains plenty of quests to undertake.

Ni No Kuni II was released on March 23rd, 2018 for Windows and Playstation. Since its release, the game received positive reviews and currently holds a 9/10 rating on Steam.

    Baldo

Currently in development by Naps Team, Baldo is an upcoming action-adventure coming to Switch, amongst other platforms. The Zelda-inspired game has a cel-shaded art style, which is comparable to that of Studio Ghibli and Ni No Kuni.

There isn’t a lot of information available about Baldo. However, the following Nintendo announcement trailer, shows that in-game action is top-down, but that the game’s pseudo-realistic backgrounds are 3D.

From the trailer, it looks like players encounter a variety of characters and monsters. Additionally, it appears that dungeon-crawling, puzzle-solving and exploration all feature in the game.

Baldo will release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.

A release date for the game is still TBA.

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is an action adventure RPG game. The game was initially released in Japan for PS4 on the 30th November 2017. In early 2018, it was announced that the release of the game’s PC version would coincide with it’s PS4 release in the west.

The game was finally published worldwide on Steam and PS4 by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment on May 15th 2018. The game costs $49.99 to download on the PlayStation Store and $39.99 on Steam.

Chamber of Time offers players the ability to uncover the various mysteries of Luna Nova Academy. The game features the lovable protagonist Akko, as well as a variety of her friends. There’s something really appealing about pixel art games. Their simplistic art-style induces nostalgic childhood memories of times when 8/16-bit games were the norm. From highly regarded releases such as Undertale and Stardew Valley, to the influx of upcoming pixel-art games in the making, such as Ikenfell and Eastward, it is evident that retro graphics are still highly in demand, and that pixel art is most certainly not dead. And so here’s our 8 favourite modern-day pixel-art games:

    Littlewood

Littlewood is a new RPG where you play the role of a hero who has completed their quest of defeating the evil wizard, saved the world of Solemn, and is now trying to rebuild the town of Littlewood. Being developed by the indie developer Sean Young, Littlewood brings an interesting spin to the usual town building simulator by melding together aspects of familiar games like Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Littlewood is out on Steam for $14.99 and will soon be available on Nintendo Switch as well.

    Peaceful Days

Peaceful days is an upcoming indie farming RPG game that aims to please fans of the cutsie, yet so engaging simulation game genre. Stardew Valley

Originally released for Windows, Stardew Valley was highly regarded for features such as complex characters, diversity in character customisation and dating, and the game’s enigmas and secrets. Its overwhelming success leads to its release on other platforms including Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS Vita. The popular farming sim is also available for Android and iOS. With Multiplayer now available on Steam and Nintendo Switch – soon PS4 and Xbox One, you can also enjoy farming with your friends.

The aim of the game is to help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain. with over 700 screens of platforming challenges and secrets, and over 2 hours of original music featuring live piano and catchy synth beats, it’s no surprise that the game was given a 92% rating by Metacritic upon its release for Switch back in January. At just $14.99, the game undoubtedly offers good value for money.

    Terraria

Terraria is an indie 2D Action-Adventure game developed by Re-Logic. The game was initiall released for Windows in 2011, but has since been released on various other consoles and devices. Often compared to Minecraft, features of the game include exploration, crafting, building, and combat with a myriad of different creatures. The game has ‘overwhelmingly positive’ reviews on Steam, and as of September 2019, has sold 25 million copies across all platforms. At only $9.99 on Steam, the game is affordable and offers pretty good value for money.

    Undertale

Undertale is a story-rich RPG by tobyfox with ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews. Described as ‘The RPG where you don’t have to destroy anyone’, Undertale is story-rich due to your character’s journey, and also due to player choices affecting the game. You play as a human child who has fallen underground into the realm of monsters and thus, tries to find their way home. You encounter both good monsters and bad along the way, which you can choose to spare or fight. There are a variety of puzzles to complete in order to progress, and a variety of interesting areas to explore.

    Rakuen

Rakuen is a beautiful adventure game that features a hospitalised boy, who travels to the fantasy world of Rakuen with his mother. Upon its release on 10th May of last year, Rakuen was a firm favorite here at MPG, despite flying under the radar a little. Since then, however, it has obtained a well-deserved overwhelmingly positive review score on Steam, and captured the hearts of many. Priced at $4.99, the game offers very good value for money. A mini TV series entitled ‘The Farmer In The Sky’, which is based on the world of Rakuen, is currently in development.

    Moon Hunters

    Golf Story

Golf Story is an interesting take on an RPG. It is a pixel based RPG that revolves around the sport of Golf. It is from a new developer called SideBar Games. Besides a really fun and easy to learn Golf play, the game also features a story mode with tons of fun characters to meet. For the green thumb people, there is also some gardening aspect to the game. For only $14.99 this game offers many hours of fun, especially thanks to the multiplayer portion, the game has great deployability.

    Hearthstead

Hearthstead is an upcoming farming and life RPG game with all the elements needed to make for an engaging experience. Games like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon have redefined the farming and lime simulation genre, with marriage relationships, seasonal events and just so much more to do. Bit of a tongue-twister eh? Are you forever skint like myself? Or are you a thrifty person who feels guilty forking out on video games? Never fear, for the Steam summer sale is here! Lasting until the 5th July, you can now nab those games you’ve been wistfully browsing through and adding to your Steam wishlist. Here are 6 discounted great games that you should totally grab whilst they’re on offer.

    1) Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Being a Level-5 BANDAI NAMCO game, this sequel is naturally of excellent quality, which unfortunately is reflected in its price. It’s original price of £49.99 was too steep for me to even consider. However, it’s current sale price of £29.99 (40% discount) makes it very tempting.

    2) The Witness

Currently discounted by 70% (£29.99 to £8.99), this game is hands-down a bargain. However, there’s also a bundle available on sale, which includes The Witness + Braid for just £9.82. Their combined cost would be £40.98 when purchased individually at their normal price. ????

    3) South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of Truth is very highly regarded on Steam. It’s one of those games you’re always tempted by, but can’t justify forking out for. Well now you can! It is currently reduced by 75% from £26.99 to £6.74.

A bundle containing South Park: The Stick of Truth + South Park: The fractured but whole is also on sale. The bundle is massively discounted by 73% from £76.98 to £20.91! ????

    4) Broken Age

This beautiful game (made by indie developers Double Fine) is still adored 4 years after its release. If you haven’t already had the opportunity to play it, you can currently nab it for just £2.99, which is an 80% reduction from it’s usual price of £14.99!

(Pssst! You can also get the Double Fine bundle, which contains 18 items, for 90% off. That’s £145.83 down to £15.01!) ????

    5) Undertale

One of the most loved games of 2015, you probably already own this charming and interactive pixel-graphic game. If by the off chance you don’t, you can currently get it at half-price for only £3.49.

    6) Firewatch

Firewatch is repeatedly praised for its narrative and interactivity. If you want to play a unique, story-rich game that bridges the gap between games and digital writing, you’re in luck. Firewatch is currently discounted by 75% from £14.99 to £3.74

If none of these games tickle your fancy, there are plenty more bargains to choose from in the Steam Summer Sale.

    Undertale

    Did you kill Goat Mom?

In Undertale, you play as a small child who finds itself underground in a world full of monsters. Some of which are hostile. As you journey through the game’s vibrant underworld in order to find your way home, you get to make moral decisions regarding how you face opponents. With it’s entertaining narrative and forgivable guilt-tripping, this popular pixel graphic game should definitely be ported to Switch.

    Fantasy Life

Level 5’s The Snack World has been confirmed for Nintendo Switch. But their popular game Fantasy Life would be great too!

Fantasy Life is a 3DS game set in a vibrant fantasy world. Players choose a life for their character at the beginning of the game, but can switch between lives whilst completing the adventurous storyline and numerous quests. The 12 lives to choose from are: Alchemist, Angler, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Cook, Hunter, Magician, Mercenary, Miner, Paladin, Tailor, and Woodcutter.

With it’s aesthetic graphics, engaging storyline and entertaining premise, Fantasy Life would make a great addition to the Switch.

    Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros is a popular series of crossover fighting games which feature popular Nintendo characters such as Kirby, Pikachu, Link, Mario etc. The latest release (which was released in 2014 for 3DS and WiiU) would make an excellent port for the Switch. The latest entry contained 19 brand new fighters. There was also new third-party characters such as Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu, Cloud Strife, and Bayonetta. Nice!

    Firewatch

Playing as a lookout in the 1989 Wyoming wilderness, something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest. This story-rich game, which is based on player choices, will reveal a ‘tailor-made story’ and keep you on the edge of your seat.

The game had a very positive reception and obtained IGN’s award for best mystery game of 2016. You’d therefore think it would have been ported to the Switch by now. Because, yanno, capitalism. Nope. This popular first person adventure game is yet to ‘Switch’ consoles.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

This HD remake of the original game was very well received. Boasting a rating of 90/100 by Metacritic and a 9.8/10 by IGN (although IGN are notoriously generous..), many fans complimented the much improved graphics and small tweaks that made gameplay more interesting. Therefore it’s unsurprising that lots of people (admittedly mostly the Zelda addicts..) have called for this game to be ported to the Switch.

What games without a Switch port do you think slipped through the Animal Crossing bug net?
