Fans who pre-ordered Doraemon Story of Seasons in Indonesia will receive a packet of seeds with the game. What better way to enjoy a farming and life RPG simulation game then taking the farming aspect into real life by planting some of the seeds yourself! Instead of smashing buttons, you can get your hands dirty and grow some plants on your own! So cute! Take a look at the adorable pre-order bonus below!

If you don’t have a green thumb, rest assured the seeds do come with clear instructions on how to grow your new plant. Doraemon Story Of Seasons will also release in North America on October 11th on the Nintendo Switch eShop, a physical version of the game for the west has not been confirmed but given the popularity of it, I would not be surprised to see a physical release in the western world before Christmas as well!

Hearthstead is an upcoming farming and life RPG game with all the elements needed to make for an engaging experience. Games like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon have redefined the farming and lime simulation genre, with marriage relationships, seasonal events and just so much more to do.

Hearthstead aims to capture the hearts of the above named games by retaining beloved features as well as adding new gameplay mechanics to the popular video game genre. The game is set in a fantasy like world while still being relatable to our current environment. However, the fantasy setting allows the game to take different paths with very little to no creative restrictions. I am thinking fairies, mermaids and garden gnomes who can help with chores!

Hearthstead features an unseen level of customizations

The developers behind Hearthstead are making a big push for customizations and allowing the player to enjoy the game the way they want to. In example on the official Heartstead website the creators say “Customize, customize, customize: Build and personalize your farm, your home and your character to your heart’s content. Hundreds of customization options await you!”

This is especially exciting for farming and life simulation games as they are to be played for a long period of time and creating your own world is a big part of the joy. The developers further explain that customization options don’t stop here, players will be able to adjust pretty much anything to their liking.

Change how fast time goes by

Some players find the time restrictions in games like Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons to be somewhat of a burden. Hearthstead tackles this issue by allowing players to adjust any of these things “Find fishing too hard? Toggle easy fishing! Time goes by too fast? Tweak the timescale!” This level of customization is something I personally am very excited about!

    HearthStead

Hearthstead is currently in development for PC with no release date yet. The developers are not ruling out a release for Nintendo Switch and other consoles later on! You can follow the developers on Twitter for up to date information on the games progress of course I will be keeping an eye on this little gem myself as well!

For more farming related news, Chucklefish is working on the Stardew Valley of Magic.

A new Story of Seasons for Nintendo Switch has also been confirmed and is well underway!

    Hearthstead Features

Enjoy your fantasy life in the town of Hearthstead. You own a piece of the land and it’s up to you to decide how to engage with the game world.

Farming, crafting, fishing, foraging, town events, holidays and more! Activities and tasks are abundant and ready for you to engage with.

A colorful and varied cast of characters for you to meet: Dozens or interesting individuals make life in Hearthstead and its surrounding area. Uncover interesting stories and take part in the life in town.

Customize, customize, customize: Build and personalize your farm, your home and your character to your heart’s content. Hundreds of customization options await you!

Player options and accessibility are key: The game features many options to fine tune the mechanics to your own style of play. Find fishing too hard? Toggle easy fishing! Time goes by too fast? Tweak the timescale! You’ll be able to play and enjoy Hearthstead your way!

Farming games like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon and beloved Story of Seasons are more popular than ever. They often feature relaxed, and laid back gameplay with adorable visuals. Orange Season is no exception. The Farm-Life RPG has everything you would come to expect from a farming and life sim game.

Orange Season offers the traditional farming elements, grow crops, care for animals and befriend the many villagers, You will of course be able to grow and sell all the yummy vegetables you have been working so hard to grow. Besides the busy farm life you can also customize and repair your farm on your path to own the most beautiful and biggest farm in the town.

But where Orange Season sets itself apart is the huge world. Orange Season invites the player to explore more than 100 hand drawn areas. You can explore mountains, forests, caves, lakes, deserts and much more. And with the latest update even more features and enhancements have been added to the already rich game.

Update 0.5.1 has changed the entire beach layout and not only made it prettier to look at, but the overall layout of the beach has changed as well – making for a more atmospheric and inviting location to hang out with your friends. There is now also an empty area just ahead of the beach which is reserved for an upcoming petting zoo! We are excited!

    Orange Season Beach
    Orange Season New Beach

The developer also re-worked the mines and improved the overall layout, according to the update notes “There are also new kinds of rocks to be found on the mines and on the mountains, each one requiring a different hammer level to break.” Mining is a big part of Orange Season and requires certain tools to obtain the materials needed for the in-depth crafting system the game offers!

You can check out the full patch notes for the latest update on the official Orange Season website. There are plenty more enhancements coming to the game in the future such as the long awaited dating system! Orange Season is currently available on Steam!

For more farming games check out the adorable Fields of Mistria an upcoming farming and life-sim indie game. Story of Seasons is also set to release on Nintendo Switch this fall!

About a week ago, we gave a sneak peek at the final bachelor (male marriage candidate) in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. Though not officially revealed to us by Marvelous, a screenshot of ‘Brandon’ came out at the ChinaJoy convention. Brandon and the final bachelorette…a brand new character…have now been officially revealed! You may now formally be introduced to Brandon and Jennifer. (Names not final until localizer XSEED confirms them.)

Mystery candidates no longer a mystery!

Brandon is an artist (and seems to specialise in wood sculpting) and a brand new character to this remake, not in the original Friends of Mineral Town. Jennifer is a wandering artist who wants to be in tune with nature. Perhaps for that reason, her home appears to be a tent. Will she find a permanent home in your town? At the very least, we believe she is a free-spirited young woman who lives at her own pace.

Marvelous Japan also put up a new trailer where these two new candidates and various other new things were shown. It’s in Japanese, but sharp-eyed viewers have still managed to spot lots of interesting things in it, such as upgraded tools and what looks to be the chocolate cow wandering around in the barn, and many other things. You can see the video right here!

    The full line-up

And with this, all known candidates have been revealed. The line-up of candidate silhouettes Marvelous showed us at the beginning has now been filled in.

It is unknown as of yet if the ‘secret’ candidates in ‘More Friends of Mineral Town’, Gourmet, Kappa and Won, will be returning as marriage options in this remake. At the current time, it seems that they are not. Up until now we only saw a very quick, blurry image of Kappa, now sporting a beret and long hair. We did, however, get a very quick (and tiny!) look at Won at the end of the video. A screenshot of Gourmet was also recently uploaded to Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Towns official (Japanese) site.

And a few other characters, too

Also revealed on the official site are villagers Gotz, a carpenter, and Zack, who in the original Friends of Mineral Town, took care of of shipping your goods for you. He also gave you your first fishing rod! We wonder if events will follow the same path in this remake.

Did you spot anything intriguing when watching the video or perusing the official site? We’d love to hear about anything that caught your interest!

If you’re looking forward to Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that Doraemon: Story of Seasons will be out on October 11th.

Information has come out about Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. This reboot is to be the first Bokujo Monogatari game for Nintendo Switch. (It is the official remake of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.) Please note that None of this has been revealed to us by Marvelous themselves. Rather, we gathered this info from Reddit, from u/arehi_wnl. The information comes from two separate interviews with Mr. Nakano.

    More remakes in the future?

ChinaJoy is a Chinese gaming convention that you could think of as their equivalent of E3. Some Chinese journalists interviewed Mr. Nakano, of the development team. They spoke of the upcoming Bokujou Monogatari game, set for release in Japan on October 11th. Some big news was revealed in this interview, including the fact that Marvelous will consider remaking more Bokumono games if this remake is successful.

    New game still in development!

It was also revealed that a NEW Bokujou Monogatari game is still in the works. Those of us who have been pining for a brand new farming adventure can rest easy! The brand new Story of Seasons game we’ve been hoping for is indeed already in development.

    And if that weren’t enough…

We even got a sneak peek at the final bachelor! Up until now, we only had the silhouettes of two brand new characters to go by, but a screenshot of the male candidate has surfaced. His name, it seems, is Brandon. He will live in Gotz’s house and may be the his apprentice. (From the picture we think he might actually be a sculptor, but the reddit post suggests that he is an apprentice. Maybe he is both an apprentice carpenter AND a sculptor?)

    Many more juicy tidbits!

Between the two interviews, we got quite a lot of information. Here are some highlights:

    • The “Best Friends” system used in DS Cute for special characters is being brought back for SoS: FoMT, but in a bigger way. You will be able to choose to make a life-long best-friends bond with any character who is the same gender as your character.
    • It is not a straight remake of Friends of Mineral Town. SoS: FoMT is bringing together a few aspects of Back to Nature, DS Cute, My Little Shop, and newer games like Trio of Towns.
    • Some of Back to Nature’s events and festivals will be in SoS: FoMT
    • You will be able to choose ‘seedling’ or ‘veteran’ mode, as you could in Story of Seasons and Trio of Towns.
    • There will be no online connectivity.
    • Mines will have pitfalls instead of staircases.
    • There will be character customization.
    • Making money will be easier.
    • Animals from Harvest Moon: My Little Shop, with specialty products, like the chocolate chicken, chocolate cow and strawberry cow, will be in SoS: FoMT.
    • Some of the additional houses will have lightened requirements to unlock.
    • Rare crops will be just as rare as in the original.
    • Your inventory will have a larger capacity.
    • SoS: FoMT may have DLC (it’s under consideration)
    • There will be no motion controls
Mining in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town

As far as we know, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch. If this game is of interest to you, check out our initial coverage!

Last Week Marvelous revealed the redesigns of four key characters in their reboot of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. The game is not due for Japanese release until October 17th, but they have unexpectedly revealed another two new characters in this short amount of time! This time we have Ann and Kai. Both are ‘candidate’ characters who can be romanced and married by the main character.

According to the Marvelous, Ann is a chipper girl who works at her father’s inn. She is a foodie and a skilled housekeeper. Kai is a friendly traveling merchant with a relaxed nature. He is from the city and only in town during summer.

Now that we have seen Ann and Kai, there are only two marriage-candidate characters left to be revealed. The two mysterious new characters that we got a glimpse of in Famitsu. Who could they be? Are they visiting characters from other Bokujou Monogatari games, or are they completely new?

Silhouettes of two unknown new characters from Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.

In addition to revealing Ann and Kai, Marvelous has also shown us how Ann’s father, Doug, will look. Duke and Manna have also gotten their debuts. What do you think of these reboots?

Also, please note that because this will be a new localization, names are not final until XSEED confirms them. We are using the names these characters were known by in the original release. These images and more have also been added to the game’s recently updated official site.
