Have you ever wanted to be a grape?  To be honest, we previously hadn’t really thought about it.  But once Garden Story made us ask ourselves that question, we realized that we do, indeed, want to be grapes!  Garden Story is a life-simulation adventure-RPG by Picogram, due to be published in spring 2020 by Rose City Games and Viz Media.

In Garden Story, you play as Concord.  He’s a grape.  (We’re not sure if ‘he’ is a ‘he’, though.  Do grapes HAVE gender?)  Concord has a new job: he has become the village guardian.  It’s a task that would normally only require one to keep the village in good shape and the villagers happy, but something terrible has snuck onto the island under Concord’s watch.  ROT.

Rot has begun to spread through the island, and it must be stopped before it overtakes everything.  Thankfully, Concord lives in a village of nice peop…fruits.  They’re a great bunch!  If Concord is a good guardian and helps the villagers with their problems, they’ll be inclined to return the favour.  Concord will have to be wise with time, because there is an environment to take care of, an island that needs exploring, friendships to make, and puzzles to solve.

    Garden Story Features:

    • Restore a dilapidated island: Explore and cultivate each of the four regions as Concord the Grape.
    • Nurture your environment: Care for garden plots, gather resources, and upgrade your tools to better take care of your new home.
    • Solve the mystery of the Rot: Uncover the island’s broken past as you solve puzzles and defend yourself against the corruption of Rot.
    • Curate a library: Deposit and catalogue resources to create a library of island lore!
    • Set your pace: Care for garden plots by day, take a stroll in the evening, or focus on completing favors…It’s all up to you!
    • Acquire memories: Experience new things to fill Concord’s scrapbook with usable perks and traits!

Garden Story will be playable on PC, Mac and Linux. If you’re curious about this game, you can watch the video below, or visit Garden Story’s Steam page to put it on your wishlist. If you’d like to see more cute games where you adventure around, helping people, check out Errand Boy and Chicory.

Potions Paws is created by the developers of Garden Paws; Bitten Toast Games. It’s a shorter standalone game with a spooky theme that includes potion-crafting and dungeon-crawling. If you own both Garden Paws and Potion Paws on Steam you’ll unlock a spooky furniture set, a cat ghost companion, and more! The Kickstarter is live right now (September 5th, 2019) and you can make a pledge for a Steam key and many exclusive rewards right here. We backed this project right away and wanted to point at that the higher tiers will include a pet black cat with a cape! See below for a summary of the Kickstarter page.

    About Potion Paws

You’ve decided to take the risk and purchase a run down house in the middle of a spooky forest near a dungeon overrun with monsters. Lucky for you you’ve been trained in the art of Potion making! Explore the land and dungeon for ingredients to create powerful potions and tasty delicacies. Sell your extra potions and prepared foods to the merchant for a bit of coin. You can use this coin to purchase recipe books, and even expand the land around you. When you unlock new areas you’ll find new ingredients, crafting recipes, crops, animals, secrets and more.

    The Pet Ghost Cat

Unfortunately for you, you’re not a fighter. Many potions have powerful effects which can aid you in battle, whether it’s to make you smaller, faster, blow up areas and monsters or a potion to summon a cute ghost to just hang out.

    Exploring and Unlocking the Map

Your adventure starts at the spooky old house you just bought, which is right by the entrance of an old mysterious dungeon. Heavy fog covers this lands but don’t worry! You can use your resources to clear the fog and uncover more land to explore and find more items to collect! With each area you unlock there are new materials, secrets, and even creatures you can find and carry home. You will want to explore as much of the map as you can and unlock all its treasures. Any item that is larger than you will have to be carried so grab those sheep and toss them into your pen!

    Potion Crafting

With your alchemist skills at hand you can use your cauldron to create a wide variety of potions. Potions can be sold or used for its effects. You can use a potion by drinking it or throwing it to alter the world around you or defeat monsters. For example, if you make a Cactus Potion and drink it, you’ll grow spikes and enemies that touch you will take damage. But if you throw the cactus potion at a group of enemies, spikes will grow out of the ground hurting them.

    Cooking Recipes

This world is full of monster parts, plants and more that you can use to craft into unique goods to sell! You can cook delicious monster treats and craft powerful potions that have plenty of different effects! You can fight monsters in the old mysterious dungeon for treasures and rare ingredients.

We can’t imagine anyone actually wanting to do chores but unfortunately that’s just the way of life. Dreading larger tasks, that hopefully don’t happen too often, such as packing or unpacking, and also the repetitive daily tasks of mowing the lawn and doing laundry? Well you’re not alone! We here at myPotatoGames haves the answers to your problems below! Just follow our instructions below and get ready to do more relaxing and/or playing without much fuss.

    Moving Out

Having to move all of your furniture and household appliances to a new location can be quite the exhausting and time-consuming affair. That’s why we recommend hiring certified Furniture Arrangement Relocation Technicians and letting them handle everything! These contractors have watched the necessary training videos and are capable of smuggling giraffes and busting ghosts. They are even willing to traverse across rivers and lava for those of you that have homes in rural areas, and running through traffic and train tracks foe those of you that live in urban areas. You’ll only suffer minor inconveniences like broken windows and damaged items. These FARTs will only be available sometime in 2020 but you can find out more right here.

    Totally Reliable Delivery Service

Need to move your furniture from point A to point B? We’ve got you covered with the Totally Reliable Delivery Service! They guarantee an attempt to deliver your items and the crew even own trucks! These TRDS will handle your precious goods like no other company and aren’t afraid to take several means of transportation and use various machinery to get the job done. Furthermore, if you need to ship live fish, they’re ready and willing to do it! These couriers will be available soon and can be contacted here.

    Unpacking

Nothing’s more satisfying after moving into a new home and unpacking everything you own. It can be quite cathartic when you find the perfect place for your posters on the walls or arranging your books alphabetically on your shelves. If you love this feeling but have already finished with your living quarters, why not help others in need and unpack their belongings too! You are invited to create a satisfying living space pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home. Eight houses are currently looking for workers sometime in late 2020. To find out more about those locations, go here.

    Mowin’ and Throwin’

Maintaining the grass in your yard in the summer time can be such a drag and extremely boring. Why don’t you turn it into a competition instead? This amazing new sport offers you the chance to team up with friends, dress up as lawn gnomes, ride souped up lawn mowers, and be the first to mow the grass during your allotted time! This is especially necessary if your grass grows quickly and you constantly deal with large stones getting in your way. All the details and rules to make this chore a lot more fun, are listed here. You might not end up with lasting friendships and completely finished or visually-appealing lawns but hey, it’s a price worth paying for an enjoyable home life.

    Laundry Game

After such a long day of mowing the lawn, you’ll probably have some grass-stained clothing that needs washing. Luckily for you, we’ve found quite the amusing laundromat! Why do your laundry in the creepy basement of your home or make your way to a dull laundromat that isn’t run by a talking skeleton. You can also spend your time having a conversation with a very punny sunflower. This laundromat is only just getting started but looks to be well worth the wait! To keep track of its progress and locations, you can check out the website here.

Garden Paws has been one of our favorite simulation games played this year as you can see from our review here. You can already purchase this adorable game on Steam here or wait for the Nintendo Switch release this December. Garden Paws continues to receive huge monthly updates by developer Bitten Toast Games such as: taming many animals, making new furniture sets, farming expansions, etc. Moreover, there are currently 500 quests which deliver hours upon hours of gameplay alone. Even one particular Potato Family member has reached over 100 hours…

After enjoying everything that the game has to offer so far and seeing how there are many of you that have or will play this game, we’ve decided to make a list of things we wish we knew before starting. As most of you already know, most farming games require you to stockpile certain crops or foraged items in order to advance the game or to complete quests. Garden Paws is less stressful in those regards as you cannot miss out on anything big and out-of-season items are purchasable. However, there are a few rare drops of items you might not want to sell and things that we hope will make your life easier with our guide below. It is also as spoiler-free as we could manage.

Garden Paws List of To-Dos Early Game

    • There are extra little islands all around Florens that are hard to reach, even with your glider. Make bridges by using ramps and wooden foundations to get to them. You can actually place anything anywhere by using the Item Shifter.
    • On some of those islands there are beehives. Harvest the honey often for your chance to get the rare “honeycomb” drop as you’ll need at least 5 if you want your own apiary.
    • While you’re there, every island has their own unique rare flowers. You’ll specifically want to grab every color of dandelion you see as those are the only flowers you can paint with. A villager will also ask you for some dye.
    • Poop is something you’ll need to save up a lot of for questing and crafting at the beginning. There are beetles you can tame in a certain cavern that will gather all of your poop for you! Once you reach 100 poop, you unlock the Legendary Feed which you need to tame Legendary animals.
    • Look to the skies near Mooney’s every day to see if there’s a rainbow. That means the unicorn is out there somewhere on one of the islands for that in-game day. Make sure to bring your Legendary Feed and a horse stable in your inventory. You’ll want to start doing this early on as the chances of it happening are as low as 1%.
    • Mine for geodes often in all caverns because silver is a rare drop and you will need a lot of it for important quests and crafting.
    • Make yourself a Stone Furnace so you can turn those silver ores into bars and sand into glass. Just make sure you also put coal in there to get the fires burning.
    • The top two fastest ways to make money is by creating bouquets at the Flower Station and cooking dishes (anything with strawberries) with your Cooking Station and Oven. You need to unlock these by doing quests but you can start saving flowers in packs of 5 and plant fiber now. There are also insects inside of plant fibers that you need to turn into bait to go fishing.
    • As for hording anything else, you don’t really need large quantities of other items except for your farm animals’ daily drops. Milk, eggs, and wheat requests will come up often to expand certain shops or buildings. Wool is needed to tame ferrets and Delicate Fur is needed to make some furniture. Ferrets will pick up all of your farm animals’ drops such as: wool, furs, feathers, and eggs. Meaning, they are quite the life-saver! You’ll need a specific habitat from the Blueprint Vendor before you can tame them or other forest animals first.
    • Flowers, animal by-products, paintings, gems, ores, etc can be donated at the Museum. Once you have completed an entire display case, you actually get an amazing reward. Sometimes even a reward you can’t get by any other means. A couple of them even progress some quests so make sure to save one of each item needed.

    To Learn More…

Extra fun tip: press F11 on your keyboard to freeze time to take lovely screenshots or to view anything from above or at a distance. We’ll continue to keep you posted as more updates become available! The developers are working hard on creating an entire dungeon with enemies, bosses, and loot releasing this month!

Thanks to everyone on their Discord channel that have given us the inspiration to write this article. They are quite the fun community where we discuss and answer questions about Garden Paws. Feel free to also drop us a comment below if there’s anything you’d like to ask!

On August 30th, we will finally get our hands on the game we’ve been pining for. Re: Legend, by Magnus Games! With early access opening so soon, Magnus Games has used their regular 25th-of-the-month update on Kickstarter to talk about what we can expect to see in the world of Ethia. Quite literally, too. We got a good look at the world map.

Magnus Games also made a second map to highlight the smaller islands, which will be of much interest to explorers. Is that island basically just one HUGE STATUE? “Sunken Valphyr”? And the other island looks like one enormous, jewelled turtle shell! And over there is a massive shipwreck! We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to explore these islands for ourselves! What will we find? Treasure? Special materials? Rare magnus? OH MY.

    Explore

With the Re: Legend just about to enter early access, everything we see now is still very much subject to change. Magnus Games is looking forward to player feedback during this period, to refine and add to their game to make it the best it can be. Those of us who will be waiting for the full release are grateful to the pioneers who will play the game in its rougher, not-entirely-finished state. Re: Legend already looks great. Imagine how much fun it will be when it’s polished to its final lustre! Magnus Games hopes to complete the early access phase in 9 to 12 months.

    Farm and go questing

Even in early access, there’s going to be lots to do. Not just finding and taming the game’s many magnus, but also farming and questing. In the screenshots Magnus Games posted, we saw evidence of several quests, such as to find the ‘forest island’ and to search for someone in trouble. We also need to get answers from a guardian? Answers to what? Who is the guardian! Our intrepid (and lucky!) early access players will get to learn these things for themselves in just a few days. We can’t wait for that sweet, sweet farming, whether on land or water.

    Befriend

Also newly revealed in this update was the existence of shadow magnus. They are special (and difficult-to-see) versions of regular magnus, but with special stats that make them well worth carrying around lots of taming goods for. They really are tricky to see, though. We think one is supposed to be in this screenshot. Do you think it’s that blue bit by the spot of light?

If a regular Draconewt has stats like this, what kind of stats would a Shadow Draconewt have? And what will it look like?

    re legend draconewt magnus

We have so many questions, and look forward to all the feedback that will be coming from early access players very soon. If you want to get in on this great action, go wishlist Re: Legend on Steam and get set to sail the seas on the back of one of your aquatic magnus buddies!

In the meanwhile you can also check out some of our previous coverage of Re: Legend and its upcoming early access period.

If you haven’t yet heard of Garden Paws, it’s a farming simulation RPG created by Canadian indie developers Bitten Toast Games. We here at myPotatoGames have been playing the game on Steam but you’ll also be able to play the content-complete version on the Nintendo Switch December 2019. This game has been one of our favorites this year if you want to check out our previous review.

    Spring 15 Easter Egg Hunt

We’ve given you a list of tips for beginners, and now we’d like to share with you all of the Easter Egg locations in the town of Florens, including screenshots. Spring will be the first season you start with and every single year on Spring 15, Ester comes to town with the most amazing of prizes! If you’ve played through several years, like us, and get excited every time Spring comes along but you can’t quite find all of the eggs, well this is the guide for you! However, if you haven’t unlocked every new villager in Florens so far, know that there may be spoilers ahead.

If you want to try and find them on your own, you have until the end of Spring to do so but know that if you find all 20 eggs before, Ester will give you a bonus 10 Tickets! You’ll also want to do this all in a day or two as there is no indicator of which egg you found and haven’t yet found. There is an in-game achievement tracker but it only displays the amount you’ve found. Keep all of the eggs in your inventory (which you’ll probably need to expand at least once) and open all of your eggs at the same time.

Some eggs are rarer than others and will contain better randomized prizes as well as some Tickets. These prizes alone are worth the effort but on top of that, once you’ve collected enough Tickets, you can trade for select Easter-related prizes. You’ll probably need to save up and try again next year for the bigger prizes. Now onto the hidden Easter Egg locations!

    All 20 Easter Egg Locations

    • At the town gate, on the other side of Charlie, inside a wood bush.
    • Climb inside the walled part of the town’s gate, go past the treasure chest to the other open edge.
    • Hidden inside one of Malu’s cabbages behind their stall. Malu is the one that sells cloth.
    • Go to Boris, the one that sells backpacks and storage upgrades, and find the egg directly behind their stall.
    • Next to some crates directly behind Abby’s stall. Abby is the one that sells crops.
    • Inside a Plant Fiber near Ester. Go past Ester and just beyond the first tree near the hill at the bottom where there are stones.
    • Inside of the well in the middle of the town square.
    • Inside a Plant Fiber just behind Miller’s wheat farm. You may not have unlocked Miller yet so go near the pond at the second cave in the town.
    • Inside the town’s first mining cave, go to the left next to a torch you can light. Nestled in between a giant pointed stone and two other little ones (inside the inner edge of the pond) is where you’ll find the egg.
    • Inside the exact same cave, jump on either the minecart or the lower stones to get to the very top right-hand corner above a tunnel entrance that you cannot enter.
    • Inside the pond on the opposite side of the Plant Fiber cave entrance in town. You may not yet have a dock there yet but you can see the egg submerged underwater inside some seaweed.
    • In the same pond area in town, jump on top of the stones to the Plant Fiber cave entrance. The egg is a bit hidden by the grass.
    • Go directly behind the Mayor’s house (next to Beltran) which is on a bit of a hill. The image below may look a little different if you haven’t upgraded their home to the Town Hall. Either way, it will be in the middle near the sign on the wall,
    • There’s an unused red-roofed home right across from Beltran, the town’s Blacksmith, Go to the back where there’s a door and find the egg under the steps next to a large tree,
    • If you don’t yet have the Wanderer and his house/Museum, you’ll want to climb one of the tallest hills in town close to Mr. Jones. It’s inside one of the Plant Fiber bushes just below the highest point on the side facing Mr. Mooney.
    • Inside the closest water bucket behind Mr. Jones and in his chicken coop. You can jump over the fence where it’s lowest or stand on something to glide over.
    • Right next to Mr. Jones’ house in the front there are two buckets and a barrel. The smallest bucket has the egg inside.
    • Inside Mr. Mooney’s barn area there are three stacks of hay next to the entrance. You’ll find the egg wedged in between there.
    • Across from Mr. Mooney on the beach facing some islands, you’ll find an egg under a bench.
    • Go all the way back around to Frank’s little balcony at the back of his house. You’ll need to climb the hill next to them to either glide or do very well-timed jump to be able to reach this egg.

    Trading Tickets for Easter Prizes

Now you’ve found all of the Easter Eggs in Garden Paws! The prizes range in Ticket prices (10, 25, 75, etc) for the following items: several skins for your character, different colored bunnies (i.e. purple) for your habitats, balloons you can hold or use as decoration, decorated egg-shaped storage items, an egg tree, a bird bath, a large egg centerpiece, several aprons and crowns/hats, and a large blue flower fountain.

We hope this guide was helpful to you and if you have any questions, please feel free to leave us a comment! Next time we’ll be making a post about the newly added Summer Festival which includes several mini-games and summer prizes! Save up your coins because you’re going to need them!

    The Last Night

The Last Night is an upcoming Indie Cyberpunk adventure game with pixel graphics. Set in a future where machines surpass humans, in a time referred to as the ‘era of leisure’, the game focuses on Charlie, someone who cannot engage with the augmentation surrounding him due to a childhood accident. Use the legendary sword of Ditto and join other players in co-op battles as you embark on the adventure of a lifetime in a world filled with a variety of characters, loot and battles.
