These have been some of our most anticipated games as of late and we’ve noticed that our Potato Family is also eager for the release of these games! We’ve put together some links for you below to wishlist along with the most recent updates to tie us all over until we get the chance to play! If you’ve only just heard of these incredibly adorable games now, or if you’ve missed our other articles on them, we’ve also added those links for you!

    Snacko

Snacko, the game where you play as a cat, is an adorable farming simulation with unique puzzles. Below is the announcement from June that we are most excited about but if you want to read their entire devlog you can do so here. Snacko still has a tentative release date of 2021 for PC and the Nintendo Switch. If you missed our last month’s updates on this game, you can read our article here.

An entirely new building system is in the works which includes their new camera rotation! Now you can see all your wonderful decors from all angles and rotate your items to place however you want! Take a look at the video below to see how it will work. We’ve also listed everything else for that pertains to your furniture and decor items.

    New Features:

    • world-aligned grid snapping – this means no matter where you are on the map, you can always make a perfectly straight line, even if the building area is offset from the others.
    • rotate freely – rotate on 45 degree angle increments by holding CTRL and sliding your mouse…just like in the Sims! Part of October’s update will also be adding additional support for controllers, although it won’t be fully polished
    • free build mode – my personal favourite: you can go off the grid and rotate at any degree you want! Although the default is set to snapping since we feel like most players would prefer that, you can toggle on free build mode to place things wherever you’d like
    • placing multiple things on surfaces – as long as there’s enough room, you can stuff as many things on top of a surface, such as a table or counter, as you’d like. No more messy snapping algorithms that limit how you can decorate your kitchen counters when you can just use free build mode!
    • dyes – certain objects, indoors or outdoors, can be dyed with items and their patterns changed. Dyes can be crafted or purchased, and items with different patterns can be purchased from certain NPCs. For example, you can keep the style of your bed frame but swap out the blanket pattern by purchasing a new blanket…you can dye it afterwards, too!

    Alchemy Story

Alchemy Story is a magical farming simulation game where you’ll have to turn the poor townsfolk from animals to humans again! We’ve played an early version of the game on itch.io which you can purchase here, or you can read about here in our review. You can also wishlist the game on Steam here so you’re notified of the Early Access release which is expected this August 2019. If you purchased it earlier on itch.io, you’ll get the Steam code for free when it releases.

Last month’s update Penelope Fineyarn and mines where added, now we get to take a look at newly added Madeline Fineyarn in this new devlog! Once you help her out, this cute tailor will open her boutique in Rosehill and you’ll be able to shop for new outfits! Another new area added is the Market. You can now unlock eight market stalls in the town center and place your ingredients for sale. You can add fish to the list of things to sell (five different kinds) as you can now go fishing anywhere with a body of water. Finally, a map and a “guide me” feature has been added so you can follow along to where you’d like to go!

    Ooblets

What can we say about this wonderfully unique simulation and adventure game? Ooblets is about growing and training these adorable creatures on you farm to then follow you in exploring strange lands and doing dance-battles with other trainers and wild Ooblets. There is still no release date as of yet but you can wishlist it on Steam here and expect the game to also release on Xbox One simultaneously. You can catch up with our last article here or read on for the latest devlog (which you can also do here).

Now there’s a rare weather event to catch Gleamies, the rarest variation of each Ooblet type. This sparkly rain brings out a higher chance of running into local Gleamies for you to challenge and looks beautiful too. Below you’ll also see the newly added Ooblet, Spuddle!

    Button City

This game about a fox and his friends trying to save their local arcade is still in early development so we do not have a release date or confirmed platforms but what we do know is that it’s darn cute. A couple of months ago we introduced to you the characters along with their gaming rivalry here but now we have a little more information from their new Patreon page here about how to travel around this beautiful pastel-colored world. They also recently announced that they are hiring 3D artists if you happen to be one and are reading this now.

Use the Zoomie to get to other places in the world super quick. When you play the game you’ll be able to press a button or use a finger gesture to zoom out of the level, enter the level selection stack, and pop into a new place. What you see below are the actual floating islands to which you’ll be navigating so this new form of fast-travel, the Zoomie, is a way to interact with this type of design choice.

We have a sneak peak of the concept art for a new character, Peppermint Pepperbottom, who’s the one behind the wicked scheme to shut down the arcade. You also get to see some lovely art of the downtown street that’s going to have tons of little shops. As of now there’s a market, pizzeria, book store, and a music shop!

Stay tuned with us here at myPotatoGames for the latest and greatest on wholesome games!

Farm, fish, decorate, explore, and recruit animal friends to rebuild an abandoned island is how the Snacko Developers describes their own game in a few words. The indie studio bluecurse founded by husband and wife Jordan and Erisa, recently delighted their fans with the monthly devblog update all about the adorable Snacko.

Snacko is farming sim game where you might have guessed, cats rule the world! Players can go on adventures to do some fishing, exploring, decorating and so much more. Town and farmland customization are also part of the fun.

In the most recent devblog it was announced that Snacko now features more weather! After announcing snow in the previous devblog, we can now enjoy the beautiful fall seasons with all its pretty colors. The developers of course note that “cats aren’t especially fond of getting wet, the bright side is at least now you don’t have to water all your crops!” We love our rainy days in games like Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons to evade garden chores for a day, so this is a great addition!

A unique twist on the game are the new puzzle dungeons that add a little bit of a spin to the gameplay. Puzzle dungeons have multiple levels with puzzles that need to be solved in order to advance. The developers left us wanting for more information, but the early concept art give us some Zelda dungeon/puzzle vibes – we are so excited!

Foraging was another feature that has made its way into Snacko. The developers talked a little bit how foraging is going to work in the upcoming indie title. Much like in other farming simulation games like Stardew Valley, foraging takes up stamina but in Snacko players can “hit it at the right time when the circle closes in, it won’t use any stamina at all! Time your hits carefully to make the most out of your day.” This adds a little bit of skill-work to the mining process.

Head over to the official Snacko devlog for some more details and information on how the game has evolved since the last update! Snacko is expected to release sometime in the year 2021 for PC and Nintendo Switch.

If you love Animal Crossing and cat themed games as much as we do, we recommend checking out Calico – an Animal Crossing inspired game with cats & magical girls.

For more information on Snacko check out our cat-tastic preview of it including all the fun features.

Snacko is a farming simulation game developed by an indie studio called bluecurse where you play as a cat! If you haven’t heard of this amazing game yet you can get caught up with us here. You’ll be able to farm, fish, cook, decorate, and recruit different animals to your island sometime in 2021 on PC and the Nintendo Switch. See below for bluecurse’s latest devblog for the newest developments in Snacko.

    Crafting

Crafting can be a lot of fun as you have to find recipes by talking to new characters and discovering new locations. That means there’s a lot of exploring to do! You can also find the required materials you need to build things around your farm and other areas outside. You can see in the image below that some items you can craft will be for cosmetic purposes so you can have fun decorating.

Other items will be very useful in helping you with your farming such as sprinklers for your crops, and a lamp to help you see at nighttime. Moreover, there seems to be tools that you need to craft to perform certain activities (i.e. fishing rod for fishing).

    Cooking

Cooking just became a lot more pleasant as not only do you follow recipes from a book but you can also experiment and your recipe book will record what you’ve learned! Furthermore, there are recipes that will require very specific food items to complete, such as tomatoes for tomato soup, and there will be recipes that are a little more general.

For example, to make a fruit tart you can choose any kind of fruit you want and any attribute that adds a “sweet” flavor. All consumables will have categories like vegetables or meats, as well as whether it tastes sweet, sour, etc. This way you can get a little more creative with your dishes as long as they meet the conditions listed.

    Camping Out

There will be four distinct islands asides from the main island which houses your farm and the town. Each new island you discover has its own puzzles, resources, monsters, and creatures. Since there is so much exploring to do, the developers have thought of a unique way that you can stay out for several days. Instead of having to return all the way back home, you only need to bring a few of this key item: cardboard boxes!

Cardboard boxes are the most comfortable beds to a cat as long as they stay dry. This means you will have to make sure you find an area that is covered or go inside caves. It’s easy to obtain them; get them for free from shops from time to time or check out the junkyard. Each box can be used for up to three times so it is important to stock up if you want to be out for a while.

    Seasons

There will be different weather or environmental effects on the other islands. Therefore, the developers are working on adding summer, fall, and winter to the game, which already included spring. As time passes you will get to see the environment change and have many lovely things to look at; spring has cherry blossoms and now fall will have colored leaves. In addition, notice in the image below how your character Momo has left behind some adorable little kitty footprints in the snow!

    Merchandise

The creators have started selling more merchandise from their online store here, and are providing their supporters with discount codes. New this month is the adorable keychains you can see below. You can also continue to support this game on Patreon and receive some interesting perks!

Want to know what else is new for the month of April on other games we’ve covered? Check out Calico (another game with cats), Alchemy Story (an adorable farming simulation game), and Ooblets (grow your own companions and “battle” by dancing).
