STRAY is an upcoming game that combines cyberpunk/cybercities, adventure, mystery-solving, and cats. The developers of STRAY, BlueTwelve Studio, are a small team from the south of France. Supposedly, they are “mostly made of cats and a handful of humans..”. Publishing STRAY is AnnaPurna Interactive, who also published the highly regarded ‘What Remains Of Edith Finch‘.

    The Origins Of STRAY:

STRAY originally started off as a concept called HK_Project. The premise being that players explored a strange/modern city as a stray cat. The few images and gifs that were floating about the internet became pretty popular and piqued the interest of many. A few years on, after many had forgot about HK_Project due to radio silence, the game made a surprising reappearance. On June the 11th 2020, an official announcement confirmed that the game, now entitled STRAY, will definitely be released. Even more excitingly, the game seems quite close to completion. The cyberpunk aesthetic, and awesome graphics of STRAY can be seen in the awesome trailer below:

    STRAY’s Gameplay & Plot:

The game’s official website says: “Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.” As a lost and alone cat, players must “Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.”

With no humans about, it’s clear that their are mysteries to unravel whilst you try to escape this weird cybercity.

Seeing as you are a feline after all, the game lets you ‘cat’ in some fun and playful ways. With danger present, you must obviously be stealthy and nimble. However, you can be silly and mischeivous whilst exploring the strange world too.

Whilst exploring, you will befriend a small flying drone, called B12. Between you and your new companion, you attempt to find a way out.

    STRAY’s Platforms, Release date, & Price(s)

The masterminds behind the game are aiming for a 2021 release. The game will definitely release on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the game will be backward compatable with consoles such as the PS4. However, as the announcement is very recent, more information regarding gameplay, compatability, pricing, etc, is likely to emerge in the future. So make sure to stay tuned!

If STRAY piques your interest, why not check out a Street Cat’s Tale here?

Dreams is a game developed by Media Molecule a gaming company you might know from fabulous games such as Little Big Planet and Tearaway. Dreams is the companies next ambitious project where you can create anything you want.

In Dreams you can create pretty much anything and players who are currently dreaming up amazing levels have proven how extensive the creator really is. Recent videos that emerged from the early access have shown re-creations of games like Sonic which was fully made inside Dreams.

Much like the level editor in Little Big Planet, the tools provided in Dreams come with an endless amount of options where you can explore, experience and play in the limitless imagination of players around the world. Check out the video below for some incredible ambitious projects from dedicated fans who have recreated Zelda Ocarina of Time, Cuphead and even mobile hit Flappy Bird inside the world of Dreams.

Media Molecule reveled in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, that they are currently considering to expand the universe beyond the PlayStation platform to allow creators to share their Dreams with anyone in the world and even make a good penny doing so.

Concrete Genie is a new action adventure game exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The game is being developed by PixelOpus and produced by Sony Interactive Entertainment. I simply can’t wait to play this beautiful game starting October 8th.

    About Concrete Genie:

The game follows Ash, a bullied teenager. Ash lives in the former fishing town of Denska. Denska is all but abandoned thanks to an oil spill. Now, the town’s water is inky and poisoned and the town is covered in a force called Darkness.

Ash is creative and spends his days working on his sketchbook. After bullies snatch the book and rip out the pages, Ash embarks on a journey to save them. Along the way, he discovers his creativity might just be what saves Denska.

You will follow and control Ash with a 3rd person perspective. You’ll use his magical Living Paint to paint creatures, called Genies, on the town walls. By creating colorful street art, Denska will slowly be restored. You will also find the lost pages of Ash’s sketchbook. Each page will expand the design toolset.

According to developers, each creature you paint will have its own personality and abilities. This is thanks to each one having its own A.I.

The game will launch with both a VR Experience Mode and a VR Free Paint Mode. In VR Experience Mode, you will follow a Genie and help it discover a new, mysterious power. This mode will then unlock VR Free Paint Mode. In VR Free Paint Mode, you’ll move your paintbrush by using PlayStation Move Motion Controllers. How awesome is that!
