During today’s Nintendo Direct at E3 2019 in Los Angeles, Nintendo revealed some new features for the upcoming Luigi’s Mansion 3 coming to Nintendo Switch this year.
Luigi is invited to a luxurious hotel with Mario, Peach, and the others. But of course, not long after Luigi arrives, things take a dark turn for the gang. The other guests turn out to be ghosts and they are rather aggressive! Luigi has to save everyone and face every challenge thrown at him. There are many floors to this hotel with each one having uniquely themed designs, ghosts, and puzzles. For example, the floors range from a medieval castle to a museum/production studio!
Luigi now has a new Poltergust G-00 to take care of these enemies with some new capabilities. These capabilities are: Slam (slam the ghost to the ground), Suction Shot (attach the plunger to stuff and pull – effective against ghosts with shields), and Burst (a powerful air-pressure release to get rid of multiple ghosts at once). It should be pretty satisfying to gain experience t unlock these new abilities.
Multiplayer
The game will receive a cooperative mode which includes the best invention from the lab yet; a green blob that is Gooigi. You can alternate between the two to use both their skills. Gooigi can slip through metal fences and walk through spikes. However, Gooigi and water do not mix so stay away from those bathrooms. You can also pass the joy-con to a friend so you can both play at the same time in the main story; one is regular Luigi, the other as Gooigi.
Another new feature is the ScareScraper which offers offline and online play for up to 8 players. Catch all ghosts before the timer runs out or find lost Toads throughout many procedurally generated floors.

If you haven’t watched Devolver Digital’s live-stream on June 9th, 2019 at 10 p.m. ET, don’t worry! We here at myPotatoGames have a fun and colorful game to show you right here! Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, developed by Mediatonic, is a mass-multiplayer online game coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in 2020. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout flings hordes of about 100 contestants together in a mad dash through rounds of escalating chaos until one victor remains. Leave your dignity at the door and prepare for hilarious failure in your quest for the crown!
In case you didn’t know, Devolver Digital has also published indie games such as Observation, Pikuniku, and Katana ZERO. They even published an upcoming game called My Friend Pedro coming June 20th, 2019. Today they announced The Messenger: Picnic Panic free DLC, Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, Carrion, and Devolver Bootleg (contains eight original rip-offs of Devolver Digital games). It’s real. However, one particular game caught our eye so see below for details.

Super Chicken Catchers is a colorful party-game created by White Smoke Games, an indie studio based in France. The game was released on Steam Early Access here in April 2019 and already plays amazingly well with regular updates. The team also puts together actual tournaments online for the community on specific dates. You can check out the schedule and sign-up here and become the Supreme Chicken Catcher.
About Super Chick Catchers
Welcome to the wackiest tournament! In this crazy action coop game, a team of two players compete against another one. In each team, one player is the mount, the other is the rider. Both have very different yet complementary abilities. To win they will need to catch the chicken and run away from the other team in order to score points and become the Super Chicken Catchers!
Play on a couch with your friends or online to show off your skills. Split, regroup and pass the chicken at the right time, use your environment to flee, chase or fight your opponents and try to master the duo complementary abilities!
Our Early Access Review
Firstly, we’d like to thank White Smoke Games for providing us with Steam codes to play this adorably quirky game. We wish them all great success and truly can’t wait to get our next fix and catch those darn chickens.
Learning the Ropes
The tutorial at the beginning of the game is quite detailed in teaching you how to be both the rider and the mount. However, it became obvious that I forgot the either-or concept of character selection and for some reason panicked and forgot how to use all the buttons during my first match. I just started mashing buttons which is definitely not the way to win and requires a little refined practice. Although, I was later told that the buttons you need to press are helpfully displayed on the screen at all times, if you dare take your eyes off the prize for one second.
Available Modes
Right now you have the option to either play local split-screen with four friends (no more, no less) or online with four friends. It would be really great if the two were mixable but perhaps this will eventually be added at a later date. When playing online, you can create a Custom Game or a Quick Game. Quick Games are great because you will earn points and therefore coins to be able to purchase items to customize your character in the Lockers menu.
Choosing Your Strategy
When choosing whether you want to be the rider or the mount, you must consider their pros and their cons. Specifically, the rider is very slow on ground when running but can jump, glide, throw bombs, and really can reach the most amazing heights. Alternatively, the mount can’t jump but can charge at the enemy and the chicken, run really fast, and pull-off some really awesome drifting moves. I personally was in love with the rider because I felt so free just flying around all over the place. Also, the rider looks like a Minion and that’s amazing.
Who’s Holding the Chicken?
When you’re playing together with the rider on the mount, which you are free to decide to do at any point, you can basically combine both of their unique abilities. For example, while my piggy partner was running away, I was throwing bombs at the opposition and occasionally flew us into the air when needed. Once the chicken is caught however, whoever is holding it won’t be able to perform one of their abilities. Meaning, if the mount is holding the chicken then it can no longer charge. If the rider is holding the chicken, then they can no longer fly. Feel free to pass the chicken around between the two of you whenever possible.
You really do have to think things through quickly and communicate with each other! Even though the game could be so fast-paced, I found it very easy to know where my partner was at all times. Not only are you both the same color, but there’s also a clear line that links both of you together in case you lose each other. Or if you want to corner the enemy for example. You also know which direction the chicken has gone and who is currently in possession of it with the glowing feather symbol.
How to Win
This depends on what type of game you decide to play. A new goal has been recently added to the latest patch which has a different objective. In the regular game, you need to flee from your opponents for as long as possible and hold on to that chicken. A meter bar at the top of the screen will start to fill the longer you have the chicken and you must reach 100% to win the match. The percentages will not drop even if your opponent takes the chicken away from you so it can make for a very intense game.
The new game is about catching the chickens and then bringing them to your flag location to score points! Earn enough points and you win that round. Furthermore, in this new update, there’s a new magenta chicken (as opposed to green), which will allow you to score five points at once! It only appears a few times per game so you must keep an eye out for it. What I found really interesting was that if there’s a certain team that is ahead, their flag location will start to change places so as to make it more difficult and give the other team a fighting chance.
The Arenas
There are a few arenas to choose from in the game and all of them offer very unique features. I absolutely love how colorful and detailed they are and try to not spend too much time gawking at the scenery while playing. The clever design of each arena offers tons of replayability and ways to change up your strategies. One area had moving window panes that you can choose to fly through, another had targets you can bomb for shortcuts, and another had the occasional burst of lava that could get in your way. I loved them all!
We highly recommend this game to anyone that wants to have a good time and a good laugh. Below we have 15 minutes of gameplay for your viewing pleasure of a couple of matches I participated in. I’m the blue rider most of the time and I win once! The last game I was orange which threw me for a loop. Just goes to show how this game can keep you on your toes. Pokemon Sword and Shield is an adventure game to become a Pokemon Champion. New grasslands and many other new locations are filled with trainers and Pokemon working together. You will need to fight in special gyms throughout the new region that will allow your Pokemon to Dynamax. Battles with two Dynamax Pokemon will cause the energy and excitement in the stadium to reach its peak with the audience. See below for everything you need to know about the Pokemon Direct hosted by Nintendo today.
New Pokemon
Wooloo: is defined by its fluffy fair that is traded by weavers in a town in the Gallow region. They use it to graft popular specialty goods.
Gossifleur: a Flowering Pokemon that favors places with clean air and water. Its pollen is said to have healing properties. When Gossifleur evolves, it becomes Eldegoss. There are now small seeds scattered around its fuzzy head. These seeds are said to promote growth in plants and can revitalize both people and Pokemon.
Drednaw: the Bite Pokemon. The sharp and jagged edges of its jaw allow it to bite off chunks of rock and iron. Its vicious nature makes it a difficult Pokemon to tame for all but the most experienced of trainers.
Corviknight: can be seen flying steadily through the sky. It puts its skills to use when working as a flying taxi. It will take the player back to any town they have previously visited.
The Legendary Pokemon: they are Zacian and Zamazenta but you will have to wait to find out what role they play in the game.
New Region
In the Galar Region, a place to go for many wild Pokemon is in the Wild Area. This Wild Area stretches between cities and is filled with abundant nature as far as the eye can see. Different Pokemon can appear depending on where you are and what the weather is like. Meaning, there will be new discoveries for you each day.
Dynamaxing
Some Pokemon can now grow in size and gain tremendous strength. This new feature will offer more strategy options in battle. All the moves they know turn more powerful. Dynamaxing can only be used once per battle. However, the Pokemon will revert to normal after three turns. Therefore, you need to choose wisely when to trigger it.
Max Raid Battles
Four Pokemon trainers can join together in a multiplayer battle (using local wireless or online) to challenge wild Dynamax Pokemon. In these battles, the wild Dynamax Pokemon keeps its form during the entire battle and has special powers that make it an extremely formidable opponent. Only one of the four players can Dynamax their Pokemon in these battles so coordinating with your team is crucial. If your team emerges victorious, you get the chance to catch these Dynmax Pokemon! The different types of Pokemon you can fight in battle will also vary depending on where you are and the state of the weather.
New Characters
Leon: current champion of the Galar Region and holds an undefeated record. His shining personality also gains him popularity and the adoration of trainers across the region. The champion’s younger brother is actually one of your rivals.
Hop: dreams of one day becoming champion just like his elder brother Leon. He trains vigorously every day toward this goal. His journey in the Galar region will begin on the same day as yours.
Professor Magnolia: a researcher that specializes in the Dynamax phenomenon.
Sonia: Is magnolia’s granddaughter and also serves as her assistant. Their wisdom and sound advice will come in handy during your adventure.
Milo: is a Grass-type expert. This gym leader is all about enjoying battles with his trusty Pokemon. You will have to fight him and his tenacious fighting style to continue your journey.

Fling to the Finish is developed by SplitSide Games, a small team of students based in Philadelphia. The game will be released early in 2020 on PC and the Nintendo Switch. Types of courses in this unique racing game include: floating parks, giant casinos, and even worm filled asteroid fields! There are also a dozen of adorable characters to choose from and pair together that we here at myPotatoGames have a hard time deciding our favorites! You’ll be tethered by a stretchy elastic rope that you can use to swing around perilous obstacles, and fling your partner up ledges before they fall to their doom.
Choose your favorite pair of characters! Fling to the Finish is the first game built from the ground up to combine the racing and platforming genres. It was inspired by games such as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Mario Sunshine, and Super Monkey Ball. It was also inspired by TV shows such as Wipeout and Survivor.
What is Fling to the Finish?
Fling to the Finish is a competitive physics racing game where you’re tethered to your best friend or worst enemy. Share a controller with your partner and coordinate your movements to master crazy obstacle courses. Take the lead against other teams by attacking them with barrages of plungers, humongous anvils, and deadly lasers! Take part in an innovative mix of genres as you platform through the most outrageous racing game to come to the market in years.
Play local couch co-op with a friend by sharing a controller! Fling is playable in single player, local co-op, or local/online competitive multiplayer with 1-16 players. Not only can teams that fall behind in races use items to gain the advantage, but obstacles dynamically adjust themselves to become easier to navigate for those not in the lead. For example, some platforms will actually become larger and easier to land on after the first place team has passed them. This ensures that even if players fall behind they’ll be able to win.

Temtem is a MMO creature-collecting game heavily inspired by Pokemon and created by Crema, a studio based in Spain. The developers have ended their Kickstarter campaign back in July 2018 and are now in full production. You can get caught up on the basics of the game with us at myPotatoGames here. The game will be released digitally on all consoles and PC with no monthly subscriptions (online only). In addition, the creators intend to add cross-play with a cross-save option. Digital Temtem and TemCards
A group of scientists, Professor Konstantinos, Tihani, Yareni, Nalla, Dr. Sasaya, and Dr. Hamijo, have been researching technology and Temtem. Together they created a new type of Temtem; Digital Temtem, a Crystal-Electric hybrid. Furthermore, by studying volcanic crystals, they also created TemCards; items capable of storing Temtem (essentially the Pokeball).
Alpha Content Update 1
The first Alpha, available since April 2019, “Features the full first island, 30 Temtem, complete single-player mechanics (tamers, wild battles, catching and training Temtem, story, quests…), and basic multiplayer functionality (1v1 battles, chat, persistent online, seeing other players within the world…).” The Alpha updates will all be accessible to old and new backers. Meaning, a pre-order option is soon to come for the game and instant access to the Alpha (for Steam only).
Aguamarina Caves
The Aguamarina Caves are a complex of caverns that run deep under the Thalassian Cliffs. The better known entrance is through the Sillaro River, but they’re so huge they even cross the whole cliffs and connect the river to the upper area of the Indigo lake.
The Caves have five different floors and they include a new gameplay feature: the crystal areas. We don’t want to spoil too much, so you’ll need to go ahead and discover it by yourself. The crystal areas affect how the player moves through the terrain and they will be very present along the whole Archipelago.
Right now the Caves are a totally optional area to explore and they don’t have too much in terms of interesting new Temtem or items. In the future we plan to re-populate them with some more Temtem so they will become the first area in the game where you will be able to obtain them. They will also hold a special and unique shrine you will be able to reach with the climbing equipment…
House Interiors
One of the more prominent features missing from the current Alpha is the option to go inside the houses currently placed on Deniz. This ends today!
With this patch you will be able to visit the houses and talk with the people inside them. Houses are also usually something optional, but they add so much richness to the lore and the overall feeling of the game we wanted to include them as soon as possible.
You’ll notice some of the houses are still closed. These houses are “special” places that will open in future updates since they are related to some unavailable features right now. We added an Alpha sign to them so you will know where you can enter or not.
By the way, almost everything you see in the NPC houses will also be available to player housing. We’re doing everything as flexible as we can so everything works for the player’s houses too.
Alpha Content Update 2 and More
The developers are currently working on another huge content patch for the Alpha, which will includes:
- a whole new Island (Omninesia)
- new Temtem
- several new features such as gameplay mechanics
- new original soundtrack by Damian Sanchez
However, this second Alpha patch has been delayed a couple of months to approximately June 2019. Consequently, this will also delay the Early Access launch on Steam (estimated September 2019) as well as the final release of the game which was previously slated for May 2020.

Puyo Puyo Champions Puyo Puyo is like a cute, bubbly version of Tetris.
Sega announced recently that Puyo Puyo Esports will be releasing in the West under the title Puyo Puyo Champions. This title is a multiplayer puzzle game with a heavy focus on online play. Champions has the fast-paced thrill of the previous titles, only now with other features and game modes to expand the experience a bit. One of the more notable additions is the tournament mode, in which 8 players battle against each other to be the best.
Puyo Puyo Chamions It appears that Puyo Puyo Champions shares much likeness with Puyo Puyo Tetris, another installment in the series. With a shiny new coat of paint, and other new features like being able to save replays of your craziest moves, Champions is a great addition to the growing genre of online multiplayer puzzlers. Champions will be releasing in the west on May 7th, and will cost only $9.99US. The western version of Puyo Puyo Esports will be released on PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
