In a long awaited update, Mario Kart Tour will be playable in landscape mode.

Mario Kart Tour is Nintendos mobile kart game that was released for both iOS and Android devices. It has (nearly) everything you would want from a mobile version of what is basically the greatest kart racing franchise of all time, Mario Kart. Even online multiplayer was added to the game an update just this past March.

    Mario Kart Tour

Until now, players have only been able to play the game in portrait mode, which seems like an odd choice considering that it is a racing game after all. Being able to see turns coming up, and what’s around them, really comes into play quite often. Well, all that will be much easier with the update that releases tomorrow, July 21st.

Switching to landscape mode will also give you a new controller layout, which I can only image will be more spacious and make the game much more comfortable to play. Playing in landscape mode also gives the game more of a handheld console feel, rather than just another mobile game (which it is). However, you will still be able to play in portrait mode, if it makes you more comfortable.

A beta test begins today for the real-time multiplayer version of Mario Kart Tour.

For this that missed it, Mario Kart Tour is the most recent game in the Mario Kart series, and also happens to the first mobile game in the franchise. Until now, the biggest drawback to the game is that there is no real-time multiplayer. Instead, the game has you compete by beating the times of your friends while racing against A.I.

Now, this beta tells us that the new mode is there, but still needs a bit of fine tuning. The beta test will be available to all who subscribe to the Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass, which is the subscription service that costs about $4.99 and allows access to extra in-game content. Recently, Mario Kart Tour began their Holiday event, and you can view the trailer for that below!

I just love the holidays because of all the presents…festive joy going around! Which is why I love when video games include limited special events to celebrate! Below are some wholesome games that will be doing just that this month. Enjoy all of the beautiful fluffy snow and brilliant and colorful lights and decorations from the comfort of your, hopefully very toasty, living room!

    Portal Knights – Winter Wonderland

Portal Knights‘ new seasonal event runs from December 1st, 2019 to January 6th, 2020. Rebuild the festive portal and head over to the Winter Wonderland, where you’ll be greeted with new quests, holiday themed enemies, and cool festive items! There’s even an adorable reindeer pet waiting for you! Players need to have visited the first island of the second cluster (Landlubber’s Leap) in order for the event to trigger.

Two Point Hospital – The Jingle Jams

The Yogscast Jingle Jams is an initiative by Humble Bundle where 100% of the proceeds go to charity. You donate an amount to charity ($5, $30, or custom), they give you games and goodies every day until December 20th, 2019. If you buy the Yogscast Jingle Jam Bundle, you’ll be able to get your hands on loads of great stuff including the Two Point Hospital Jingle Jimjams: a unique customisation option for your staff, allowing you to dress up your staff as Santa Claus. Furthermore, if you buy the bundle, you’ll also get a voucher for 70% off the main game if you haven’t already purchased it! I recommend it!

    Slime Rancher – Wiggly Wonderland

The developers have announced that the new 1.4.1 update helps prepare Slime Rancher for Wiggly Wonderland, which is coming soon! It is currently available on PC and will be coming to consoles later this week. The Wiggly Wonderland is a yearly seasonal event that will take place this year from December 18th-30th, 2019. The developers promise “There will be plenty of fun surprises happening both on the Far, Far Range and outside of the game.” Every day of the event, the Twinkle Slime will appear in-game somewhere on the Far, Far Range. Follow the music to find the twinkle slime and receive a collection of musical chimes!

Mario Kart Tour – London Tour

The Mario Kart Tour Winter Tour may be over but Nintendo announced the new London Tour with the trailer below which includes Daisy and Waluigi in some pretty festive outfits! This event starts now (December 3rd, 2019) until December 17th, 2019. Furthermore, if you’re lucky, you can still spot Mario in his Santa gear until December 31st, 2019. Today on their Twitter page, Nintendo gave us details on playable character Daisy which is as follows: “Daisy (Holiday Cheer) appears in the London tour as the second in our series of festive drivers. Her special item is the Lucky Seven, so you know she’s got luck to spare!” Don’t forget there’s also a Mario Kart Tour Multiplayer Beta Test coming this December!

Garfield is back with an all new racing game coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on November 19th but launches today on Steam already!

The original Garfield Kart was released in November of 2013, and wasn’t very well received. Many players found that the super jump ability was just a bit too overpowered when it came to taking shortcuts. But I could never hold a grudge against such a cuddly kitty. So well known for being lazy and munching on lasagna, it is kind of surprising that he’d be willing to go through such high paced action again. Well, here is hoping that this foray into the kart world will treat him better than the last.

    About Garfield Furious Kart Racing

In Garfield Furious Kart Racing you will now be able to play as 8 different characters from the Garfield universe – Garfield, Odie, Jon, Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Harry and Squeak will all be here. The game will also come with 16 different tracks for Garfield and his buddies to go head-to-head. Like Mario Kart, Furious Racing will feature the modes Grand Prix, Single Race and Time Trial.

    Garfield Furious Kart Racing Release

Garfield Furious Kart Racing is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in Europe today. Fans in North America can already get the game on Steam but we will have to wait for the console release until November 19th.

Mario Kart Tour has seen huge success on mobile with more than 14 million downloads so far but players were sad to find a lack of real multiplayer competition in the first mobile installment of the kart racer. Today Nintendo announced that the promised multiplayer mode will finally start its engines this December.

If you’d like to race and compete with your friends, or against other players from all around the world, you are in luck! The big N will be adding a live multiplayer feature this December, at least in Beta form.

How to participate in the Beta Test

To be able to participate in this beta test you will need to be a Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass Subscriper. This is Mario Kart Tours $4.99/month subscription model that unlocks new characters and other goodies every month.

Mario Kart is finally celebrating its mobile debut – Mario Kart Tour is now available on iOS and Android devices worldwide.

After a long delay and a beta test that concluded this summer, the mobile kart racing game is finally available for everyone. Mario Kart Tour features almost everything you come to expect from a Mario Kart game. You can collect items to take out your opponents on your race to the #1 spot, race on exciting tracks and meet some of the most popular Nintendo characters.

It also includes many of the classic and much beloved tracks from the series. However, a multiplayer mode is currently still missing. Players who participated in the beta have voiced their opinions and expressed their disappointment about the lack of multiplayer in Mario Kart Tour.

The in-game menu that lists upcoming features such as Kart customizations, challenges, more drivers and even a shop also lists a multiplayer mode to be added to the game soon. This should please many fans who look forward to competing against friends and players around the world.

You can get Mario Kart Tour for free on iOS and Android. If you are looking for a richer console kart experience, make sure you check out Garfield Kart Furious Racing coming to Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC this fall!
