If you haven’t completed you holiday shopping yet, or would just like to get yourself something nice, I’ve got you covered here! If you’re an animal-lover and a gamer, below are cute gift ideas for both actual games and video game related merchandise. I’ve even separated the categories as follows: cats, dogs, foxes, fish, and birds!
Aside from the obvious games like Planet Zoo, there are many other indie games with a strong focus on said animals or where you get to be them as playable characters! I recommended my favorite things that you can purchase right now, along with other upcoming games you may want to keep an eye out for future gifts! Every game has animals but offers something vastly different from one to the other.
Cats
There’s just something about these furry feline friends that is so adorable! Below are some games where you can breed them, grow them (yes like plants), ride them (giant cats), and love them!

Developed and published by Falcon Entertainment for PC, Mac and Linux (Steam here) on December 1st of 2017, the game has garnered very ‘paws-itive’ feedback since its release. Through the eyes of a cat, Cattails allows players to hunt for food, interact with other cats, gather herbs, and explore an expansive world. It’s also available now on the Nintendo Switch here for only $19.99.
This is the main hero from Cat Quest! A Dragonblood descending from a long line of dragon slayers, this yellow warrior must summon his pawsome power to defeat Drakoth and save his sister! Dogs
Dogs are indeed lovable and loyal which makes them the perfect companion in games. Below are some games that allow you to cook with them (be them, not eat them), take photos of them, and make sure they get rescued and/or adopted!

Food Truck Pup: Cooking Chef is a cute mobile cooking and management game by Game Start. Prepare crepes in the cooking game and design your shop with furniture you like. You can dress up the adorable pixel dogs, too. There’s a Shiba Inu, a retriever, a beagle, and more. Foxes
There’s a surprising amount of games with foxes in them, possibly because they are so majestic and make for a good character in a heartbreaking story. Below are some games that allow you to save the day or arcade with them, and wonder beautiful landscapes.

Super Lucky’s Tale is a charming 3D adventure and platforming game featuring a rambunctious little fox. It is currently available on Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and PC. You are set on a journey to help your sister protect the Book of Ages, a great book that contains entire worlds. The gameplay has been compared to that of Super Mario 64, and has delightful graphics that make the whimsical plot that much more fun.

Fish
Well maybe I’m not talking about one particular species or type of fish, but some of you may enjoy owning a fish tank or go scuba-diving. There are many wonderful creatures to behold in the depths of an ocean whether you want to fish for them or preserve them. Below are some games for the fisherman to the explorer or conservationist!

Become an expert in aquatic life and run your very own theme park by managing tanks and staff all while keeping your fish and guests happy! Megaquarium was previously released on Steam in 2018 with very positive reviews. Now, Megaquarium is available on the Nintendo Switch, the PS4, and Xbox One for approximately $25. Birds
Birds are cute, talkative, and can be downright silly which can brighten anyone’s day. Well except in the case of a particular goose that is. Below are some games all about singing, training, and performing or watching all sorts of activities as birds!

Thanks to the developers, I was able to play and highly recommend buying a copy on the Nintendo Switch, see review here, but you can also purchase the game on the Epic Games Store here for a steal!

Going to be doing egg hunts this Easter? Well now you can do them virtually as well! We here at myPotatoGames have selected some seasonal events you can enjoy this week. All events have already started so hop to it!
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Bunny Day Egg Hunt
Event Schedule: April 12th, 2019 at 2:00 a.m. to April 22nd, 2019 at 1:59 a.m.
Zipper During this event, you can gather bunny-day eggs that are scattered around the map and you’ll be able to craft them! With enough eggs, you’ll be able to craft the Giant Zipper Plushie and see how your animal friends react! Remember that you can also collect bunny-day eggs at the quarry when the icon is displayed above.
See below what items you can collect during this event! The egg wall from the Wall & Floor Collection is included in this set and will be available until June 9th, 2019. Note that Leaf Tickets are required to craft the Zipper mask and the Zipper costume. You will not be able to craft these items after the event ends.

Pokémon GO Eggstravaganza
Event Schedule: April 16th, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PDT to April 23rd, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
Buneary Here’s what the Pokemon Go Team had to say about this event! Pokémon like Pichu, Smoochum, and Magby will be available in 2 km Eggs, and Egg-focused Field Research will be available to complete. Every Egg hatched during the event will also include bonus Candy to help you power up your newly hatched Pokémon. Buneary is joining in the festivities, and if you’re lucky, you may encounter the Shiny form of this Rabbit Pokémon!

- Pokémon like Pichu, Smoochum, and Magby will be in 2 km Eggs.

- You may find different Pokémon hatching from Eggs than before.

Portal Knights
Egg Hunt – Seasonal Event
Event Schedule: The Egg hunt is a Seasonal Event that occurs around Easter time, and lasts 30 days.
Portal Knights’ official Twitter account just announced that starting from March 25th, 2019, the Egg Hunt Seasonal Event is live! Go find all of the colorful eggs around the island!
Objectives: Craft a Golden Egg. To craft a Gold Egg you’ll need to find 15 Green Eggs, 15 Yellow Eggs and 15 Orange Eggs. Some of the eggs are corrupted and they’ll fight back.
Note: The golden egg HAS to be crafted on the island that the event takes place, otherwise it won’t mark the event as completed.
Rewards: Golden Egg. This is a decorative item that can be sold for 45 GP.
Staxel
Eggcellent Update
Event Schedule: April 17th to April 24th, 2019 (annually)
Find some colorful eggs popping up around your world! These eggs can be opened by interacting with them, and will give you some tasty treats. That’s not all though, the developers have added some new Easter themed accessories to collect from these eggs, but they’re pretty rare! Follow the developers on Steam for more information.
Funko POP! Candy
This is unrelated to video games but the nostalgia was too great not to let everyone know about Funko’s new line of POPS. These classic tasty marshmallow bunnies come in the colors of pink and yellow to all retailers, while the blue ones are exclusive to FYE and the lavender ones are exclusive to the Funko Shop. You can’t eat these but it will remind you of the good ol’ days!
