Mineko’s Night Market is an upcoming cat-themed crafting adventure game that celebrates Japanese culture and is essentially about friendship, choices, and of course, cats. The indie game is being developed by Meowza Games, and being published by Humble Bundle, who will also publish upcoming games Forager and Ikenfell.

The exact date for the games release is yet to be determined, though the creator mentioned that it may possibly be early this year.   I thought I’d provide everyone with a detailed article on everything we know about this cute cat-filled creation!

    What is the game about?

Playing as Mineko, a girl who has moved to a superstitious fishing town inundated with cats, you will uncover secrets whilst assiting Mineko in becoming a successful young entrepreneur. This can be done by completing tasks, undertaking quests and gathering resources in preparation for the weekly night market.

Players can craft a variety of odd items, toys, and trinkets, which can then be sold to townsfolk (who are now your customers) at Mineko’s night market stall. After you’ve finished selling your items, you can explore the Night Market yourself, where you can play mini-games, eat unusual foods, and purchase collectibles.

The game allows you to explore distant lands by unlocking different types of transport (which include buses, bullet trains and cat carts). Each land offers new people to meet and unique things to do, dependent on the time of day and season.

There are 16 uniquely themed markets every year which all feature a stage event that you can partake in. Examples of events include Taiko drumming, karaoke competitions, sumo suit wrestling, and more!

The better you perform at the market, the bigger and better the market will become, which may well attract new townsfolk and even celebrity guests!

What sort of stuff can I do in the game?

Some features of the game include:

    • Explore the village and surrounding areas to find rare resources and make new friends
    • Craft peculiar items with the resources you find around the world
    • Barter with townsfolk at the weekly Night Market to sell your creations
    • Explore the night Market to discover unusual culinary dlights and collectibles
    • Play and compete in a variety of Night Market games like cat racing,
      pachinko, and whack-a-tako
    • Uncover the mysteries of the Sun-Cat Abe and Mount Fugu Island!

    How much will it cost?

The price of the game is still TBA.

What platforms will it be released on?

    • PC
    • Mac
    • Nintendo Switch

    When will it be released?

The Nintendo website claims that the game is ‘coming early 2019’ to the Switch console. As the PC and Mac versions were in the works first.  However it was delayed until 2020 with no concrete release date, however let’s hope we can all play the game this year!

Is there any game merchandise available to buy?

Yes! The following items can be purchased whilst you (im)patiently await the game’s release:

I sat down with Brent, developer behind the game for an exclusive interview last year. For some more sneaky details on Mineko’s Night Market, make sure you check out the interview here

If you’re anything like me, exercise can probably seem both a bore and a chore. But what if you could get fit whilst having fun? Sound too good to be true? These four fitness-themed games for Nintendo Switch are proof otherwise!

    Ring Fit Adventure

A must have for fans of the Wii Fit, Ring Fit Adventure utilises bespoke Nintendo Switch accessories to gauge players’ movements’ and turn them into in-game actions.

The game comes with two accessories (the Ring-Con and Leg Strap), which allow players to explore the vibrant in-game world and battle monsters using real-life exercise, and therefore getting a workout whilst having fun.

Additionally, the game features a quiet mode, which essentially swaps running for knee bends. A handy feature to avoid waking the entire household if you ever decided to have a 3 a.m. workout…

    Just Dance 2020

The first Just Dance game was released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2009. Owing to its popularity, the games are still being released 10 years later!

As with previous Just Dance games, players have to copy the dance moves shown on the screen to a chosen song using motion controllers (joy-cons in this instance).

This year’s soundtrack features over 40 new tracks. Just a handful of examples include songs by Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Lil Nas X.

Kids can also join in with the fun! The children’s section contains plenty of songs that are more appropriate for little ‘uns, including the infamous Baby Shark. (Oh no!)

    Zumba Burn It Up!

Created by a Colombian dancer in the 90’s, Zumba combines high intensity workouts with catchy Latin American music. It soon became incredibly popular, evident in the fact that over 14 million people now participate in Zumba classes worldwide.

Switch console owners however, need not even leave their home to have some Zumba fun, thanks to the release of Zumba Burn It Up! for Nintendo Switch.

With over 30 tracks, and routines based on music and dance styles such as reggaetón, salsa, merengue, cumbia, hip hop, and Bollywood, the game offers something for everyone.

Additionally, the game allows up to four players. This means that you can workout whilst spending time with friends and/or family, and also encourage and motivate each other along the way.

    Sports Party

Similar in principle to the incredibly popular game Wii Sports, Sports Party offers players the ability to participate in six different sporting events. These include: Golf, Beach Tennis, Frisbee, Skateboarding, Basketball, and Jet Skiing.

With a variety of different modes and controls, you can play each sport your way. Sports Party allows players to customize their avatar, and unlock new items as they progress through the game. With easy to grasp controls and the ability to play with up to three other people, the game can be enjoyed by old and young, and by oneself or with others.

Cleaning has never been so adorable! ThinkGeek.com posted on April 1st, 2019 their brand new Kirby Robot Vacuum. This vacuum features an adorable Kirby that will help suck down all your home’s messes.

Kirby Vacuum is taking a little snooze while recharging

When docked at it’s station, the Kirby Vacuum will sleep soundly as it recharges for it’s next cleaning adventure. Once you tell Kirby to start cleaning, he will start to inhale and suck down all of the mess! When it’s full, Kirby will sit there all bloated-like letting you know that he needs to be emptied.

The retailer prices this adorable Kirby for $299.99 – but there’s a catch:

This product isn’t actually real. This is just one of Thinkgeek’s April Fool’s products!

Disappointed with the fact that this isn’t real, I guess we will just have to wait for an actual Kirby vacuum. In the mean time we can join Kirby in his dream land and dream about the vacuum that could’ve been.

Happy April Fool’s Day and Happy Gaming!
