Here are 15 super cute games for the 3DS to celebrate the consoles 10th anniversary.

It has been exactly 10 years since Nintendo launched the 3DS in North America. The handheld console may have had a rough start with a price tag a little too high but once Nintendo listened to its fanbase the handheld quickly become a fans favorite gaming machine and has sold more than 75 million units since its original launch back in February 2011.

With the Nintendo Switch just recently celebrating its third birthday, I thought it would be a great idea to take a look at the Nintendo 3DS. This handheld console was first released in February of 2011. The 3DS features a library of more than 1297 games – I took 15 of the cutest ones and listed them right here for you! Join me on a journey through The 15 Best Cute 3DS Games.

I also compiled a list of my 15 favorite Nintendo 3DS games, so if case you missed that list, check it out! This time I am being a little more specific. Kawaii lovers rejoice! Here are some of the 15 cutest 3DS games.

    • Disney – Magical World: Released in 2013, Disney Magical World was highly anticipated by Disney fans and kawaii lovers alike. Being cute, wholesome and not requiring commitment, the game is perfect for children, and casual gamers with busy lives. ( get it here )
    Disney Magical World 2
    • Disney – Magical World 2: With all the same perks as the game’s predecessor, as well as new characters, outfits, items, minigames, and worlds to explore, this game was also very well received. ( get it here )
    Detective Pikachu
    • Detective Pikachu: Detective Pikachu is a recently released game for the 3DS. Considering the main character of the game (who has a cult following due to his cuteness) is a lil detective (●´ω`●), it’s safe to say this game is cute. ( get it here )
    • Pokémon Rumble World: Cuddly toy Pokémon. Those three words scream cuteness (although as Pocket Camp would say, not literally, as that would be terrifying). With the ability to play as a Mii character in a kingdom of toys, the retail version of this adorable game was released worldwide in 2016. ( get it here )
    Animal Crossing: New Leaf
    • Animal Crossing: New Leaf: OBVS. With a cute alpaca couple, three hedgehog sisters, a pigeon barista, and a town full of anthropomorphic animals, there’s nothing about this game that isn’t cute! This classic installment in the series is still popular today for its adorable aesthetic alone.  ( get it here )
    Tomodachi Life
    • Tomodachi Life: Released worldwide in 2014, Tomodachi life is a surprisingly entertaining game. Using mii characters, players can populate the island, unlock new shops and items, form relationships, and even have a baby. ( get it here )
    Fantasy Life Online
    • Fantasy Life: Aesthetic AND cute. Released worldwide by Level 5 in 2014, it comes as no surprise that the game is endearing. If slaying dragons isn’t your cup of tea, you can instead enjoy the entertaining storyline and numerous cute features (such as plushlings and pets) that the game has to offer. ( get it here )
    Moco Moco Friends
    • Moco Moco Friends: I hadn’t heard of this one until recently. At first I thought “Oh, like Pokémon Rumble?” due to the game’s cuddly toy theme. Apparently, it’s possible to get even cuter than Pokémon rumble, as Moco Moco Friends combines a magic school and cuddly toy monsters whilst also evoking a ghibli-esque theme. ( get it here )
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
    • Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask: It’s no secret that the Professor Layton series consists of games with stunning stories, mesmerizing music, and amazing artwork. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask doesn’t disappoint with it’s colorful carnival-esque theme and unusual plot. ( get it here )
Professon Layton and the Azran Legacy
    • Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy: Admittedly, this game was kind of bittersweet due to being the last main series game to be made. However, with it’s multitude of worlds to explore, treachery, and plot twists, in combination with the usual incredible artwork and music, this game is also a must-play for 3DS owners and Layton fans. ( get it here )
    • Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Released in 2012, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a rhythm video game made by Square Enix with Final Fantasy characters. Rated 8.5/10 by IGN, the chibi game was popular enough to warrant an iOS sequel in 2014. ( get it here )
    • Kirby: Triple Deluxe: Kirby himself is a little cutie pie (the words of my brother), so naturally the 2014 game Kirby: Triple Deluxe was going to make this list. After Kirby’s friend Dedede is kidnapped by Taranza (who has created a giant ‘dreamstalk’), Kirby sets off to bravely rescue him! Is it just me who finds it hard to take such a cute little hero seriously? Tee hee. ( get it here )
    • Yo-Kai Watch: Jibanyaaaaaan! Also a product of Level 5, the colourful game Yo-Kai watch is definitely cute with cat yo-kai such as Jibanyan, a scatterbrained butler named Whisper, and it’s anime like features. ( get it here )
    Yo-Kai Watch 2
    • Yo-Kai Watch 2 (Bony Spirits, Fleshy Souls & Psychic Specters): Oh mah swirls! Like it’s predecessor, Yo-Kai Watch 2 (which has 3 variations) is also a cute must-play 3DS game. ( get it here )
    • Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale: Described by Hardcore Gamer as “thoroughly charming from the very start”, this 2016 rarely talked about game is definitely cute enough to warrant a play-through. ( get it here )

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold is an endearing action RPG that releases on Nintendo Switch on Valentine’s Day, 2020. Level-5, who are notorious for the highly regarded Professor Layton games, Yo-Kai Watch franchise, and Nintendo 3DS game Fantasy Life, are both the developers and publishers of this game.

    About The Snack World franchise:

The Snack World is a multimedia franchise created and developed by Level-5. The franchise consists of a ‘rogue-like’ RPG that was initially released under the name ‘The Snack World: Trejarers for the Nintendo 3DS in August 2017 in Japan. An expanded Nintendo Switch port of the game under the same name was released in Japan on April 12th, 2018. Android and iOS versions have been confirmed, but are yet to be released.

Fast forward to November 2019, when Nintendo announces that the game will be released in the west, where it would be re-titled Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold.

Two manga adaptations of the game have been released, and an anime television series which aired on Cartoon Network in Australia from 2017-2018.

The game also has a toy line by Takara Tomy in Japan.

About Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold:

Described as a dungeon-crawling adventure with ‘real bite’, the game offers players the option to play solo, or to join forces with up to three others (either locally or online). The aim is to save the world from being swallowed whole, so no pressure, right?

    Plot:

You are found unconscious at the gates of Tutti-Frutti and have no recollection of who you are. Bummer. Then to make matters worse, it seems that an evil sultan could be resurrecting a mighty deodragon to eat the entire kingdom. Great!

King Papaya and his demanding daughter, Princess Melonia, enlist the help of you and the other heroes of Tutti-Frutti to save the day. With numerous dangerous dungeons (I guess it’s in the game’s title) and plenty of menacing monsters to face, you’re going to have your work cut out.

    Features:

    • Numerous randonly-generated dungeons to explore (and loot), which contain rare treasures and new equipment. Remember: the more you achieve during a quest, the more chests you’ll attain, each packed with loot.
    • The ability to change your hairstyle, facial features and body shape before setting out on your adventure.
    • Find and equip jaras (the most important loot-hunting equipment around) to arm yourself with weapons, shields, healing tonics, and status-enhancing colognes. Each of these have their own unique skills, abilities and passive powers.
    • craft your own gear by merging materials gathered from dungeons into jaras, clothing and armour. Additionally, you can merge any doubles you find or make to improve their stats.
    • Obtain ‘Snacks’ (plastic cards of monsters and characters) by taking their photograph with a device called a Pix-e Pod.
    • Defeating monsters and taking their snack shot and lending characters a helping hand are both ways to obtain snack shots.
    • You can add Snacks to your party before venturing forth, or summon them in battle to give yourself an advantage.
    • Play with up to three other people (either locally or online) and team up to defeat dastardly dungeon-dwellers.
    • All downloadable content released for the original Japanese version are included, free of charge.

The 3DS is dead! We keep hearing this. Is it true? Well…sort of. It’s certain that new 3DS games are very thin on the ground these days. But even if the amount of NEW games coming to 3DS is scanty, the existing library is already ENORMOUS! And very high-quality, too. Just check out this list of adorable games you can try for FREE right this minute and see if you don’t agree! We highly recommend grabbing your 3DS and snatching these demos off the e-shop if you have not done so already.

    Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn

Extra Epic Yarn is just the newest in the Kirby series. Including the Virtual Console games, there are 14 Kirby games to play on 3DS. As for demos, 3DS also has them for Kirby: Battle Royale and Kirby: Planet Robobot. This is a Nintendo first-party series, so we doubt we need to tell you what it’s about. This is action-adventure gaming in that adorable way that is so classically Nintendo!

    Monster Hunter Stories

Ever been interested in Monster Hunter, but thought it wasn’t really very, well…cute? Well Monster Hunter Stories is the answer to your problem! This cute spin-off from the main series is just what fans of happy, wholesome gaming would want. Collect monster eggs and hatch yourself some monster buddies, each with unique skills. You can even do some gene-mixing to create monsters with the best abilities. You’re going to need a good team to get through this game’s big world and the many side quests that branch off from the main story.

    Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit!

Cooking Mama is the mother of all cooking games. (Sorry, we had to say it!) And you can try Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit! for free any time you want, and see why games that came after it (like Waku Waku Sweets) have modelled themselves after this cute series. And if cooking is just not your thing, have a look at Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends instead! It’s every bit as cute. Possibly even cuter if you’re more about cute critters and pretty flowers than strawberry-topped cupcakes. (Do we really HAVE to choose? Oh wait…NO, WE DON’T. Both of these games have demos!)

    Style Savvy: Fashion Forward

The 3DS has demos for both Style Savvy: Styling Star and Style Savvy: Fashion Forward. In our review of Style Savvy: Styling Star we show that it is a pretty good game itself! But if we compare the two, we give Fashion Forward the edge on it. You won’t just be dealing with designing clothing and dressing customers in these games. Giving someone a new style involves hair and make-up, too!

    Pokemon (many versions!)

There are plenty of Pokemon games free to try on 3DS. Not just Sun/Moon, but also Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and spin-off Pokemon games Detective Pikachu and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity! Not sure you’d like a spin-off? Thanks to the wonderful invention of game demos, you can try these charming games for free whenever you please.

    Disney Art Academy

Even if you can’t draw, Art Academy instructional games help you produce surprisingly good work! If you love how cute Disney characters are and wish you could draw them yourself, Disney Art Academy is definitely the game for you.

    Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder

Chibi-Robo!: Photo Finder is a very unique game. We’ve never played another quite like it. In it you are a tiny robot who is helping to make the opening of a new museum a success. You won’t just be cleaning up little messes and finding stamps, you will be collecting relics of the past. You buy pieces of film with silhouettes cut into them, and then search history (our real world!) for an object that matches it. Take a picture with your 3DS camera to match that silhouette as precisely as possible and Chibi-Robo can transport the object and put it on display in the museum!

    Ever Oasis

This game is so unspeakably cute that it makes our teeth ache! It must just be that sweet. But we love it…oh my, yes. Ever Oasis is about defending the desert’s last oasis. You must turn this poor little puddle into a safe haven to house all of the creatures who have been unhomed by the malicious and fast-spreading Chaos. Explore and conquer dungeons and rescue other survivors and escapees. If you can entice them, they will move into your oasis and open their own shops or provide services such as farming for you or heading out into the desert to gather resources. Put those with the right skills into your party and no barrier will keep you back. Build your little oasis into a thriving bastion of health and happiness!

Since the initial release of Professor Layton and The Curious Village for Nintendo DS back in 2007, Level 5’s Professor Layton crime-solving puzzle games have become a firm favourite with gamers worldwide. It’s therefore no surprise that Level-5 decided to port their most recent spinoff game, Layton’s Mystery Journey to the Nintendo Switch console.

The game’s full name, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy – Deluxe Edition (what a mouhtful!) will be released on November 8th of this year; right in time for the magical holidays. It will be available to purchase both digitally and physically.

On October 9th, Nintendo revealed the following charming box-art for the Nintendo Switch deluxe version on Twitter.

    laytons_mystery_journey_box_art

    About the game:

In the 3DS version of the game, The notorious Professor Layton is absent. Layton’s Mystery Journey stars the Professor’s previously unmentioned daughter Katrielle as the Protagonist. Katrielle has undoubtedly inherited her father’s intelligence, but sometimes has people dubious due to her ‘gut feelings’. She is also a little more outspoken and disorganised than her gentlemanly father.

The Professor has been missing for quite some time, and Katrielle is starting to become worried. Nevertheless, she decides continue her father’s legacy and sets up the Layton Detective Agency. Alongside her talking dog (Sherl), her infatuated assistant (Ernest Greeves), and her rival (Emiliana Perfetti) she tackles various difficult cases presented to her by fellow Londoners. The mysteries are often odd, with unexpected culprits, which makes the game unpredictable and interesting.

The game is similar to previous games in the series due to the ability to find and solve puzzles, explore surroundings, collect items, and play minigames. It differs in that instead of having one main storyline with chapters.

The Deluxe version for the Switch however, has a few added features to enjoy. To read more about these, click here.

There are plenty of strange things in the Animal Crossing franchise if you stop and think about it. It’s true that some elements of the game are more strange than others, and many are mostly likely unintentional due to the wholesome nature of the game. But Nintendo definitely has a sense of humor, so who really knows?

From predators and prey cohabiting peacefully (for the most part) to the respawning of buried fossils, here are some of the strangest and quirkiest things from the franchise that range from disconcerting to rather hilarious.

Make sure you also take a look at the absolute salvagers in Animal Crossing!

You’re the only human in a town full of animals.

Plantera is a farming-style clicker game that was released in 2016 by indie developer, VaragtP. With a “Very Positive” rating and over 3,000 reviews on Steam, it is easy to see why the developer has announced plans for a Plantera 2. Once finding out about this, myPotatoGames approached the developer to find out more information about the popular indie game sequel.

There is not much known about Plantera 2 as of yet but there are some adorable screenshots to help give an idea of what to expect. As of now, there are two animals that have been officially announced in the game. These two animals include an adorable round cat that throws up hairballs and fuzzy pink llamas that drop fur.

Excited for the new animals, myPotatoGames seeked out more information from the developer. @VaragtP told us that Plantera 2 will consist of about double the animals and plants as the first game. There will also be a new category of items and a big tree that will grow during gameplay and give a new kind of currency to use for plantation upgrades.

With this exciting news, we are looking forward to hearing about a release date which is still TBD. Stay tuned to myPotatoGames for more information on Plantera 2 and other games. Happy Gaming!
