Announced in the recent Pokemon Direct, there is an all new Pokemon Snap game that will be released for the Nintendo Switch.

Nostalgia abounds in the latest streaming of the Pokemon Direct. The Pokemon Company has announced that there will be an all new Pokemon Snap game coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game is being developed by Bandai Namco, and it appears to be called simply “New Pokemon Snap”. There was much information revealed, as well as a trailer for the game which can be viewed below.

    New Pokemon Snap

    About Pokemon Snap

The original Pokemon Snap was released for the Nintendo 64 back in 1999. Some of you may be too young to remember, but it was a huge hit and a major success in the Pokemon series.

Certainly a unique game within the franchise, it is a first person “shooter” where the player adventures through unknown lands taking pictures of Pokemon in their natural habitats. The primary goal being to fill up Photodex with as many Pokemon as possible.

Players move through the world on a rail, and use different items to help achieve the best possible photos. At the end of each level, the player is then judged on the quality of each photo taken. You could even take your cartridge to certain stores to have your pictures printed on stickers.

    The New Pokemon Snap

The idea is essentially the same for the new iteration. You will travel to unknown lands to take pictures of Pokemon as the exist in the wild. The goal of the game will be to fill up your Pokemon Photodex with as many Pokemon as possible, with as many different expressions as possible.

The Pokemon Company also released the following features list:

    – See a different side of Pokémon in a new photo-snapping adventure, only on Nintendo Switch
    – Research various Pokémon in their natural habitats and capture Pokémon behaviors that you’ve never seen before
    – Explore unknown islands with scenery like lush jungles and tropical beaches throughout your journey
    – Take in-game photos to make your very own Pokémon Photodex

The Pokemon Company has launched the official web page for Pokemon Home.

For those that are in the dark on this one, Pokemon Home is set to be the new cloud storage service offered by The Pokemon Company. It is set to be a place where you can store all your captured Pokemon from many different Pokemon games.

    Pokemon Home

Not only will you be able to store all your Pokemon in one convenient location, you will also be able to view their stats, moves, and other attributes using the new service. Pokemon Home will be offered as an app, and will be compatible with many different mobile devices, including the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.

Possibly one of the coolest functions of the new cloud service is the ability to also trade the monsters you have caught from all these games. The Switch version of the app will include Pokemon from Sword/Shield, and Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee. The mobile version will eventually include the creatures collected Pokemon GO.

The app will also feature a sync ability with The Pokemon Bank from the Nintendo 3DS. This app is really turning out to be everything we originally hoped The Pokemon Bank would be. For more information on The Pokemon Home app, check out the newly updated site.

It appears the developers of this amazing creature collection game weren’t ready for such a big launch.

Temtem is the new creature collection game on the block, and it boasts online functionality like no other Pokemon-like (or Pokemon game, for that matter) currently on the market. With super cute graphics and the ability to play the campaign with friends online, Temtem got pretty popular leading up to its release yesterday.

    Temtem

Since launch, there have been a few hiccups with being a bit over capacity. Players of Temtem have been experiencing issues with loading into games, and staying in them as well. It appears the developers of the game did not anticipate such a huge reaction from the fans.

The servers are a bit overloaded, but the developers are doing their best to fix the issue, as well as keep players up to pace with what is going on. The most recent patch says that they have now even fixed the co-op, so things are surely looking to be running at full capacity very soon.

    Temtem Official Trailer

If you would like to see what all the hubbub is about, head over to Steam where you can get Temtem for $34.99. To stay up to date with what is going on with the fixes, you can follow the game on Twitter. For more fun creature collection action, check out my coverage of Pokemon Sword & Shield.
