[dropcap]M[/dropcap]inecraft Switch Edition is finally here. When we reviewed Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch, we couldn’t help but notice the ” Minecraft Store ” button on the home screen. At the time we reviewed the game, the button would only open the Nintendo eShop, with an error message stating that there are currently no items for sale. However, Microsoft is currently expected to open the Minecraft Marketplace in the very near future.
The Minecraft Marketplace is a platform for players who wish to sell their creation to other Minecraft players. The gold currency can be purchased per micro transaction inside the game, the gold can then be spend on ” skins, textures and worlds designed by the community “. As the official Minecraft website states ” For the first time, skins, textures and worlds designed by the community are coming to the store in Pocket and Windows 10 edition. We’ve made it safe and easy to purchase community-made content for your Minecraft. Buy once, then enjoy it on any Windows 10 or Pocket device, forever. “
This could potentially provide an endless amount of content to any Nintendo Switch Minecraft player. The option to purchase additional skins, textures and even entire worlds designed by other players could expand the games content tremendously.
The Minecraft Marketplace is currently only planned for the Minecraft Pocket Edition and Windows 10 devices. It is questionable if the developers plan to open the marketplace up for Switch users as well, or how the ” Minecraft Store ” will be utilized otherwise. We have reached out to Microsoft and we will update this article once we receive more information and clarity on the situation.
