Final Fantasy VII is a little outside of our usual cutesy coverage, but a certain writer for myPotatoGames happens to be a die-hard fan. Now, it’s not to say that Final Fantasy cannot be cute (forgive the double negative), it is, however, a bit more violent than we are used to. So, just a quick warning to those few left in the world that are unfamiliar with this classic epic.
Final Fantasy VII was originally released on the PS1 in 1997, and is due to be re-released on the Nintendo Switch in just four days time! This installment in the series brought a whole new life to Final Fantasy, eventually creating a large enough fan base to easily support all the games to come. FFVII ranked 15th in Game Informers “Top 200 Games of all Time”, and has won many awards and received countless accolades since release. This title now comes to the Switch on the 26th, with a few added features sure to enrich the experience.
About this legendary title…
To those who truly cared, it could be said that FFVII shaped the hearts and minds of an entire generation of heroes. One man, whose abilities give him the power to create or destroy worlds, is set on a mission to save his planet from a seemingly unstoppable force. With the help of a super-eclectic group of friends, you adventure across the varied terrain of Gaia and meet many wonderful and dangerous beings on your quest to stop Sephiroth, a super-human experiment gone wrong with intention of binding himself to your planet for the purpose of using it’s energy to travel through galaxies destroying everything!
Super deep, right? Aside from the occasionally confusing plot line, this is, personally, a near-perfect title. Each character is fun and unique, adding their own personal flair every step of the way. By time you reach the end, the realization settles that you would give just about anything to keep the story going. The story does continue, however, only not in the way that one might hope. FFVII is a genuinely spectacular game, deserving of every award it’s received since release. It is a true “must-play”.
