President of Nintendo America Doug Bowser shared some uplifting news for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

The E3 has come and gone and Nintendo neglected to share any news that would inspire Animal Crossing New Horizons fans to get excited about the adorable village simulator again more than a year after its original release.

Many fans were hoping to hear something about the much rumored DLC pack for New Horizons but instead we have had nothing but silence in regards to our favorite village simulator.

Nintendo instead shared a first look at the Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel and left Tom Nook followers empty handed. However, the Animal Crossing community made it a mission to get a statement from Nintendo by sending hundreds of mails to the company requesting some information about the future of the game.

    Nintendo responds to fan mail

In a very surprising turn Doug Bowser, the president of Nintendo in North America responded himself and promised that the big N will not let down the 33 million Animal Crossing New Horizons players and assured there will be new fun activities to engage in soon – he asks fans to wait for more to come as revealed in a NintenTalk video!

animal crossing new horizons content update

It is not uncommon for Nintendo to only make one big announcement during the E3 and this years focus was on Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. It is to assume that Nintendo might focus on Animal Crossing in a later summer or early fall Nintendo Direct much like prior to the release of the game.

A major update for Animal Crossing New Horizons closer to this years holidays could potentially boost sales and interest in the game again. Lets hope we will be able to welcome Brewster to our islands sometime this year!

For the ones who haven’t heard yet, Nintendo recently announced that the official New Horizons soundtrack will be released this year for your eardrum pleasure.

The music heard in any Animal Crossing games has always played a substantial role in creating the cozy and loving atmosphere we love so much in the games – now you will be able to to listen to the soothing tunes whenever you please.

No wonder that the upcoming soundtrack bundle will include more than a whooping 250 tracks and songs from our beloved villager simulator. In addition to wholesome music, the bundle will also include a few goodies to make this a real collectors edition all nicely put together in an Animal Crossing keepsake box.

    Release Date and Pre-Orders

With E3 around the corner lets take a look at a possible Animal Crossing New Horizons DLC Expansion.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is available for over a year now. After a seven years break between New Leaf and New Horizons the AC community was eager to jump into a whole new adventure on a brand new console.

Animal Crossing New Horizons packs everything an Animal Crossing fans heart desires. Tons of items to collect, a big island to decorate and terraform, costumes content, adorable villagers and just so much more.

But after a while fans noticed more and more the things we came to love so much from previous games that just weren’t included in New Horizons.

    Gaming has changed

To understand the possible reason behind the lack of features we have to take a look at the gaming industry as a whole. Gaming has changed – New Leaf is a perfect example of this turn. When Animal Crossing New Leaf released it was considered a complete game and therefore there were no expectations of frequent content updates.

Nintendo released one major update many years after its original release – Welcome Amiibo which added MEOW points and the campsite to be able to scan Amiibos. Every other feature found in the game today was there the day it launched back in 2013.

New Horizons launched with a basic set of features with the promise that Nintendo would add more content in the future and deliver events via downloadable updates. While there were plenty of content updates in New Horizons first year, such as swimming in the ocean and seasonal items, the big hopes and dreams fans had were left unfulfilled.

The return of Brewster, Kapp’n, multiple missing villagers, villager home visits, more shops, Club LOL and more are yet to be added to the game.

Animal Crossing New Horizons most successful game in the franchise

animal crossing new hoirzons sales records

New Horizons has sold more than 33 million copies worldwide so far, which makes it the most popular Animal Crossing game ever released. It surpassed New Leafs seven year lifetime sales of 15 million copies within only 12 months.

With a huge fanbase like this it is undeniable that Nintendo must have considered a DLC for the game. Other Nintendo games such as Pokemon Sword and Shield, Zelda Breath of the Wold and even Splatoon a game developed by the Animal Crossing team has received paid DLC.

Given how Nintendo and the gaming industry as a whole have changed, it may be very possible that the big N is currently working on a paid DLC. Based on prices for other Nintendo Switch games, this DLC would most likely be $19.99 and should come with enough content to justify the price tag.

Would you be happy to pay for a DLC that could possible introduce more shops, Brewster, and other highly desired features? Perhaps something that is new to the Animal Crossing series?

With most games now releasing with fewer features and more often than not even featuring micro transaction, I would personally welcome a DLC to make New Horizons the best and most complete game in the series.

A short update on the Tiny Village pre-orders.

As you may know the Animal Crossing inspired Tiny Village pre-order is about to close and everyone who has placed their pre-order is eager to receive their cute little village.

The Tiny Village pre-orders are expected to ship this summer as initially outlined in the original announcement. As you may know this is a one time only edition and once pre-orders have been exhausted, the Tiny Village won’t be offered anymore making it a rare collectors item.

The Tiny Village is an intricate and difficult-to-produce item. I will be doing pre-orders to allow myself to keep up with resources but its also a lot of fun and just so super adorable. I wanted to take a moment and share some progress in the making of the Tiny Village.

    Tiny Village 3D model

Each of these adorable little clamshells is handmade, hand painted and assembled by hand. It starts out with a 3D model which turns into just a 3D printed white shell like this, and all parts are then assembled together.

Of course all characters included are separate, so you may place them anywhere your like in your village.

There was a lot of trial and error in figuring out how to best assemble everything together so that it would open and close easily – and of course also stay open if you wish to display it on your shelf.

I am currently also working on the little box the Tiny Village comes packaged in, I cant wait to share the progress on this in the next update!

If you have any questions about your pre-order please do not hesitate to contact me! I can’t wait for you to get your Tiny Village this summer!
