The first Fishing Tourney is starting in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp! Head over to Saltwater Shores and talk to Chip to get started. During this event, you’ll be able to catch special tourney fish. These fish are the clown fish, the surgeonfish, and the barred knifejaw. To spot one of these fish in the water, you’ll see the shadow of it sparkling.
After you catch one of these fish, go ahead and talk to Chip. He’ll measure the fish for you and once you reach the size goal needed, you’ll be rewarded with some cool new items! Another way to receive rewards is by doing Chip Challenges.Ā Once you complete a Chip Challenge, claim the reward!
If you get lucky, you’ll catch two tourney fish with a normal fishing rod. If you want to catch two fish each time though, use 80 Leaf Tickets to rent the golden rod from Chip. You can also use the tourney throw net to catch multiple tourney fish at once!
At the end of the Fishing Tourney, all players that gave at least one fish to Chip will receive a trophy in the mail. The type of trophy you end up getting depends on the total size of your tourney fish. The first Fishing Tourney goes from 3/15/18 to 3/20/18.
Head over to our Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp discord to talk to other players, trade, and help each other in any way possible! Are you a fan of Splatoon 2? Learn all about the new update coming to the game here.

Funny thing…I hate the fishing tournament in New Leaf (even though I like NL more than Pocket Camp) but it has been quite fun and useful in Pocket Camp. Between this and the Mario event, I’ve made enough Leaf Tickets to finish buying the majority of the underwater theme for my camp, and I think I may be able to get all the prizes before the event ends, which is great. š

I agree! The simplicity of this event is nice. I like how the sizes of the fish can be added together to reach the goal. Iām not sure if that feature would carry over to a main AC title, but it works good for Pocket Camp.

While I’m a way bigger fan of the core AC games than Pocket Camp, I really think that the constantly changing nature of a mobile app is great for a series like AC, where the biggest problem is that after months or even years, you just get bored and run out of interesting new things to do. I wonder if they’ll add river fishing tournaments and bug tournaments, too, and maybe some of the other events, like mushroom-collecting in autumn. I like the addition of terrain customization, too š
