[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nintendo Switch is still battling heavy stock shortages, with the console still hard to find at most major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Toys “R” Us. New sales numbers from Japan, however, suggest that the Switch is still flying off the shelves.

The Playstation 4 has sold 500.000 Units within it’s first 7 weeks in Japan. The Nintendo Switch has sold the same number of consoles, but only needed 5 weeks to achieve this. This places Nintendos new console ahead of Sonys Playstation 4.

The main reasons for the sharp decline in the Playstation 4 first few months were the lack of games that appealed to the Japanese market. The Switch however, may have enough games to satisfy the Japanese gamer, but the limited availability of the console is holding back sales. It will be interesting to see how the sales of the Nintendo Switch keep up. If the console continues to sell well, third party developer naturally want to release more games on the system.
